When the wealthy borrow from the poor

1829

Sell fans a ticket, you owe them a game of football.  Whether the standard or result it good or bad, it’s a relatively easy commitment to keep.  That’s what fans get in return for spending money on a ticket.

Sell people shares, you owe them a share certificate.  That’s what shareholders get in return for coughing up for shares.

Borrow money from fans and you owe them much more than a game of football or a share certificate.  In many instances that money will have come from people who had to forgo things to provide you with the loan.  You owe them a duty of care that their loan will be repaid, or converted with their agreement.

It beggars belief that an unsecured loan has been offered to Rangers International by fans group, Rangers First.  If, as claimed, the obligations to Sports Direct have been met, the club will have both the ability and the incentive to pass the securities previously held by Sports Direct to the fans group.  The club’s IP, training ground and ancillary assets should now be unencumbered, who better to have security over these critical parts of the club than a fans group?

Unless, of course, the obligations to Sports Direct have not been met.  Or someone else has their eye on the assets.

The claim that Dave King would match Rangers First’s loan took me by surprise.  This was counter to everything I knew and expected of him.  His swift denial was more consistent with expectations.

There is an axiom in football: Any club who has enriched a PR individual to the tune of £500k in the last year is making a serious attempt to divert it’s fans attention.  Celtic’s PR machine deals with the efficient communication of football information and financial reports.  Nothing whatsoever is spend attempting to lead the news agenda.  This often leaves us on the receiving end of that agenda, but we have nothing to hide.  Which is the way it should be.

Few sights in business or football can be more alarming than when purportedly wealthy people borrow money from poorer people.  The warning signs are writ as tall as the Ibrox stands.  This time there is no hidden Ticketus deal people can claim they didn’t know about.

    Aye for sure K…………..

Just been a long time since I have laughed out loud so much on CQN…

Low grade humour maybe but still better than all of the infighting of recent years…….

Hope that you and yours are well………..

Off to my kip as flying back tomorrow, Jeez……….. No longer a joy for me…..

Good professional performance. Some game time for periphery players. Job done.

Flare igniters are cants .. Ruining it for the team. We know where the focus will be tomorrow.

  3. Standing on the perimeter wall with a banner hiding those setting of flares, looked orchestrated to me, I was talking to a guy in the brazen last week who was in turkey as the flares went up, tried to confront those responsible and was threatened the entire match for his trouble, he is a middle aged man travelling to see his team abroad and spent the entire game watching over his shoulder by his so- called own fans.

Phew!!! Nobody getting their jotters tonight then? Relaxed Celtic with bite and tempo is the way forward. Personally speaking highlight of the day was watching Celtic players playing with a smile on their face, very underrated.

    Disturbing story that

I used to go to European away games regularly

On a number of occasions self policing was evident…..young bucks getting a bit overly rowdy and being brought into line by older heads …all in the name of ensuring CFCs impeccable reputation

Seems some are hellbent on tarnishing it

  8. here’s hoping for an away draw tomorrow the fans who go to the away games prefer it the cqn posters seem to prefer it going by the posts it will be on the telly so will get publicity much better than a lifeless, quarter full celtic park – See more at: http://www.celticquicknews.co.uk/when-the-wealthy-borrow-from-the-poor/comment-page-36/#comment-2751229

The statement was copied from Celtic New now, EPL Scouts, and stated as being confirmed ? By irishnews ?

Celtic are drawn to play Rangers on Monday, do Rangers get more money from a game at Celtic Park or at Ibrox?

its a personal opinion that an away cup draw provides more excitement, comment and involvement than a home cup draw

  15. Evening all,

Enjoyed the game today and glad we had a comprehensive victory. Wtf are these flare throwers about. Another fine for CFC probably. Sickening. Anyhoos, a big Happy Birthday to Prestonpans Bhoy, my ole buddy. Hope you’ve had a brilliant day kiddo. :-))) HH

It is bad enough having to wade through the drivel that you spout regarding matters off the park without having to suffer comments like this regarding on the park matters.

Last year’s Player of the Year may not be having the best of seasons however he never hides or stops trying – as indeed he demonstrated again today, being in my view the best midfielder on show.

However it is currently “fashionable” to criticise SJ just as it is to constantly criticise our club which as we all know is your real area of expertise!

Why you decided to single out SJ for criticism whilst the one man in the Hoops who has demonstrated that he currently is a waste of space, despite being the doyen of many on here and also of the SMSM, namely, Kris Commons.

If ever you need an object lesson in giving the ball away, avoiding physical contact of any type or just plain lack of effort watch the KC performance again.

Second game in a row where his shirt will not need to be laundered!

There will be no fines, if they did fine us, the fines levied at the hun would have them skinter than they are :-)

    Good solid professional performance today.

  19. There appears to be an element that has attached itself to Celtic and chooses to ignore any appeals from the club as regards the throwing and letting off of flares. There was a time decent Celtic supporters would make it quite clear certain behaviour was unacceptable, this no longer seems feasible due to intimidation. As far as I am concerned these people should have no place at an away game or at Celtic Park.

Sky’s OF agenda Alice and well

    ======================================

Alice? Alice? Who the #### is Alice?

Pardon, couln’t resist that. Like tourettes…I’ll get me coat.

As for tomorrow’s draw – this will really be the acid test for all the draw-fix conspiracies, ever.

The Huns NEED a draw against us to guarantee survival to the end of the season.

Will Sky arrange the OF match they so desire?

    BSR,

    Thanks for your comprehensive response.

I don’t know what JC said or didn’t say. It was not the point I tried to make.

If the presence of Them in the SPL next year leads to an increase in ST sales and sell out attendances v Them, then the Board’s perceived view will be in line with the majority of match going fans.

As yet, there has been no coordinated consensus of fan opinion from any of the representative groups, unlike the Joint Statement post AGM.

I feel that it would no harm to express the views of the support in a cohesive manner.

As I said previously, it is easier for me, as I don’t attend games now.

It doesn’t really matter what JC or anyone officially involved in football think.

Cash is king and the cash comes from the supporters/ patrons.

It is approaching put up or shut up time for those with the real power.

  25. Happy enough to be in the draw and no new injuries to worry about. A professional performance – job done bhoys.

Some lower league team beat some other lower league team today too. I think it may have been mentioned once or twice.
