Who suggested Whyte speaks to Ticketus?

384

Today is one of the most significant days for the future of Rangers as Duff and Phelps legal challenge to Ticketus ownership of around £40m of tickets over the next three seasons plays out.  Should Ticketus retain ownership of the tickets it considerably inhibits the phoenix scenarios Duff and Phelps are able to profile as they look to sell the club.

BBC Scotland’s business and economy editor, Douglas Fraser, Tweeted this afternoon that Duff and Phelps asked the court for permission to breach the agreement with Ticketus as it acts as an inhibitor to attracting potential bids for the club.  Fraser also notes that there is little precedent for such a breach and that the Blue Knights consortium have been able to construct a deal recognising Ticketus’ rights.

I heard earlier today that Craig Whyte is particularly distressed at some of the derogatory comments fired his way this week, a few of which he feels are unjustified.  The media are already speculating on what could happen to Mr Whyte in the event that police inquiries lead to a report being made to the crown office.

I understand supporters of Mr Whyte, who has maintained a dignified silence on many aspects of the deal, are curious as to why the person who led him to Ticketus has not revealed his involvement.  I hear that early last year when Whyte privately revealed he was unable to pull enough funds together to complete the takeover, he was told:

“Why don’t you speak to a company called Ticketus?  They are very helpful for this kind of thing.”

Having never worked in the football business, Whyte had never heard of Ticketus.  When I heard who this was I laughed and laughed and laughed.  I’m still laughing.  This is the story that just keeps on giving.  My source is not for going on the record, so discretion is the better part of valour on this one, but if Mr Whyte ever gets to the witness box, get yourself a front row seat.

The Daily Record today suggested Mr Whyte could end up in jail over this business.  I wonder if he’ll be the only one.

Its good to see Neil take a stand against the biased media, but will they still be allowed to attend the press conference.

I’d rather they were barred from Celtic Park and Lennoxtown until a full retraction is given to Celtic’s approval.

  3. Athletic Bilbao players are obviously allowed to go out and “express” themselves without fear or favour. Would we be as patient and understanding if Lenny allowed our players to go out and express themselves, all the while making mistakes? I can just hear it now……..Samaras ya stupid……….If we want the same type of football we have to be prepared for allowing mistakes.

  8. William Collum warmed up well for Sunday at tonights game, sent off a Valencia player, straight red, then gave the free kick to Valencia, glad the rest of Europe can suffer the same standard as we do every week.

The guy who missed two goals against Celtic this year, gets a Cup Final, amazing.

    i dont get it

they talk as if the buying of this club is a foergone conclusion,

no mention of the huge cash hurldes involved to take the club out of administration or the registration and league dificulties ahead if a newco wants to play in the league.

  13. The basque cycling team euskaltel euskadi also used to have a basque only policy…….until the realised they weren’t very good and started getting ringers in……I don’t know the euskadi translation of the word pragmatism

  14. Chatting to my auld Dad today, he was telling me that he had had a visit from the chiropodist. So, says I, you’ll be able to dance a jig at their imminent demise. Yes, says he, they’re going to the wall. Unbidden, he started to talk of all that they have got away with all his lifetime with the connivance of the SFA. When I mentioned that they were also in trouble, he responded with “they’re one and same”. Which, of course, is only too true. Let’s hope the while kit and keboodle goes to the (Derry’s) wall(s).

Our perceptive paranoia is the only true reality.

”I know it’s laudible that Atletico only field basques but I’m struggling to tell the difference between that a team only playing protestants?”

The difference is that Basques are, or perceive themselves to be, a marginalised, subjugated, colonised people and regard Athletic as one of the few avenues open to them that allows them to express their cultural identity.

Different era and more luck that anything we had 11 local lads on the park. Before and after we had many players from all over the place. Not trying to stir up bad feelings but it’s hard for me to reconcile how we can criticise one club for the selective policy when it comes to players, yet applaud another.

Whether it’s nationalities or religions, its still an “exclusive” policy compared to Celtic’s open to all policy.

  19. Loving that D&P want to avoid paying their dues towards Ticketus.

Does this club have no shame.

D&P and Craig Whyte have only been interested in taking money out of Rangers, no wonder they see Ticketus & HMRC as anomalous.

    Pay your dues!

    My uncle left us recently.

A hard graftin workin class man who lived most adult life with the main entrance of Celtic Park as his 1st look outside the windae.

Corner close kinnear rd. other side london rd from kerrydale st.

Anyway John used to take me to games in the Celtic end when i was about 4/5, and no doubt played a part in my future passion & love for Celtic.

Any time we would meet at family get togethers , the subject was 99% related to football/Celtic.

AM sure he’ll be taking an interest, where ever he is .

Reason I say” where ever ” is he chose ACDCs highway to hell for his song at his funeral .

Certainly reminded all of his sense of humour.
