Win over HJK worth at least £6m to Celtic

1408

Celtic will receive £1.65m from the Uefa revenue distribution system for participating in the Champions League play-off round against Helsingborgs.  Add to that around £1m gate money and the guarantee of at least three Europa League games, with Uefa distribution money, you can calculate the value of Wednesday’s win over HJK Helsinki as no less than £6m (all figures are net of vat).  Quite a prize for one game.

Compare this to the projected income from newco The Rangers, who claimed to have sold 25,000 season tickets.  If all sales were at full adult prices (£258 in vat), net income would be £5.375m.

Should Celtic overcome Helsingborgs and reach the Champions League group stage, the club will return to a remarkably strong financial footing.

    A bit unlucky from Joe

Losing at half time but no embarrassment.

    Satisfied with that.

  2. Beglin has a problem with Celtic. Always has had and always will have.

Can’t recall apologists taking his side.

Another soup taker in my not so humble opinion.

  3. Great first half from Dylan MeGeough, thought we showed up pretty well the clash of strips on Celtic TV doing my napper in tho’

Ramos making a complete clown of himself as usual..

Obviously ,you did not get a look at my athletic

figure last week, understandable ,blocked by the

two wee backles ,CRC and Bundoran.

  5. Looking Good so far…… Think we have a good squad , need more striking options, was hoping for some news on a striker after the european game, lenny looking well in the US>

  6. McGeouch is a revelation against a team of Real’s supposed calbre. Does Ramos realise this is a ‘friendly’?

  7. Getting a good work out against a quality team who have most of the possession.

Football wise, this is what this game is all about.

Now I know why AS was invisible.

  8. Young McGeogh playing well, showing great composure. Giving the ball away a bit. Madrid defend with plenty begin the ball then break really quickly. I think we could cause a problem, just need someone to take a chance in the box when the ball comes in. Commons and Mulgrew have been able to get behind.

Beglin a legend in his own mind.

Good to know that money will not be the impeteus in selling Ki then.

Sorry about the over reaction to the Ajax game and the over reaction to us not getting the quality players in we need.

Looks like the club may have gambled well but lets respect Gothenburg

Looking at possible ankle bone reconstruction at the end of the month is my excuse.

Hot and sticky out there celtic doing well.

Great first half performance against arguably the best club team in Europe, if not the World. Keep it going bhoys. Peter Lawwell, please back Lenny and our talented young guns, with a few quality additions this team could do special things. Commons is the key-stone IMHO.

EDB – I’ll never forget or forgive the completely biased BBC radio commentary from Green/Beglin during the home UEFA Cup game against Liverpool during the Wim year. West Brit tosser!

VP – how did yer nap get on? Yer winner from last week did the business again!

    Mine was 3rd. :-(

  12. Considering the opposition and the fact that we are without several key players we’ve done ok. Young Dylan’s been our best player in my opinion. Darryl Murphy (??!!).

    Is Jim Beglin a hun?!

    Andy Townsend – what a tw#t!

    Gaun yerself WGS!

……………………………………..ahem snr messi et al may disagree mo charra

  14. I know its only a friendly but Dylan McGeouch is showing why its young guys like him (Twardzyck, Watt, Irvine etc) who should be given a chance, more game time, than the likes of Paddy, Murphy, Bangura or signing journeymen onloan from down south.

    Give youth a chance.

Nap ,crap, horse from last week won again

at 5/2 ,no good to me ,to low odds :O)

  16. Beglin’s a hun and a scouse fan, awful commentator, seems that british tv gives jobs to any ex Liverpool player no matter how crap they are.

  17. Young Dylan playing very very well. Good player in a more advanced role. Wilson playing really well, as are Charlie and Kayal, Joe is looking very comfortable in that company, and Commons at times with good touches- only thing about Commons is that he gives up too easy at times and tends not to work as hard as he should.

Playing fairly well though- with a much weakened team. No FF, no Big V, no Sammi, no Hooper, no Forrest, no Stokes, no Paddy to make an impact, no Lustig, no Broony to batter a few galacticos…and yet we are doing pretty well at the moment.
