There appears to be nothing more than a desire to move-on behind Johan Mjallby’s decision to leave Celtic at the end of the season but it leaves the original four man coaching team of Neil Lennon, Alan Thompson, Mjallby and Garry Parker reduced down to two. The management team needs to be rebuilt.
Assistants do more than just put the cones out and get players go through their paces. They are an extra pair of eyes and ears, at the side of the field and in the dressing room. Alan Thompson was not directly replaced but irrespective of the speculation which constantly surrounds the club, a wind of change will blow through Lennoxtown this summer, filling the gaps in the original four man team.

Evening all. Just thought I would say that I will not be renewing the 4 ST from my house. The main reason being that as posted about 7 weeks ago my son who has had a st for best part of 20 years was arrested at the ICT game. Now having been with his lawyer today the scenario at the moment is he has not been charged yet and although he was held for 7 hours at the police station was released without charge but they would send it to the PF to decide if he should be charged. To this day no charge has been made yet. However Celtic FC have called him a few days ago and have since sent him a letter to say that he has been banned from attending all home and away games with immediate effect. So there you have it your guilty until proved innocent in the eyes of Celtic FC.

I have tried to get the verbatim minutes of the meetings but government say there are none! Meetings that decided for the first time on a national police force dedicated to policing one group of the people (football fans) and the formulation of the OB Act wasn’t minuted! As I say just wondering why the police need to be in the stadium (by all means they should be around the stadium for traffic & crowd control after the game and also to respond if the stewards lose control or need assistance to a serious issue) and think it’s a comparison the club should look into….

Used to be a Celtic Steward in the back of the Jungle (finally chucked in my bib to the crowd and rejoined my mates when big Jackie scored his fourth against Partizan!!!), and what you say above was indeed the only real involvement of the polis in the stadium – responding when the stewards lost control, or when we gripped a pick-pocket or something along those lines.
Although it was a much less ‘professional’ setup, all of the guys I worked with were tims, and we were most concerned with keeping folks safe with a very light touch – keep everyone off the stairs and keep the passageways clear and that, in essence, was that. Other than that, the general approach was that folks could get on with supporting the team.
Absolute crowd control – and I mean CONTROL – does seem to have creeped up on us all over the past few years, in parallel with all seated stadia, the availability of security cameras, and the ARTIFICIALLY CREATED need to buy a Season Ticket.
Been reading everything on here over the past couple of years about Motherwell seats, Dundee ‘riots’, morning arrests, kettling in the Gallowgate, ‘sharing’ of personal data, etc., and the prevalence of obtrusive surveillance and overbearing control over individual fans is becoming really, really disturbing.
I just want to go to the game with my Wee BGFC on a Saturday without half the world monitoring what I am doing. I’m not doing anything wrong, I’m not a criminal – I’m having a hard earned day off from work enjoying some time with my boy at the football.
Please, Celtic – take a step back from all of this nonsense. Join together with the fans and stop being all bloody ‘corporate’ – it’s supposed to be fun, we are all in the same club.
