Wind of change set to blow through Lennoxtown

892

There appears to be nothing more than a desire to move-on behind Johan Mjallby’s decision to leave Celtic at the end of the season but it leaves the original four man coaching team of Neil Lennon, Alan Thompson, Mjallby and Garry Parker reduced down to two.  The management team needs to be rebuilt.

Assistants do more than just put the cones out and get players go through their paces.  They are an extra pair of eyes and ears, at the side of the field and in the dressing room.  When they are most effective, they are a source of learning, bringing improved techniques and ideas into the club, forcing the manager to reconsider established practices.

Strip some of the greats of their productive partners and they proved to be prosaic underachievers; Cough without Taylor was a sorry sight.  By contrast, Ferguson played the assistants’ game perfectly, swapping them every few years to enhance his stock with fresh flavour.

Alan Thompson was not directly replaced but irrespective of the speculation which constantly surrounds the club, a wind of change will blow through Lennoxtown this summer, filling the gaps in the original four man team.

If you’ve wondered about getting involved with some of the charity events surrounding the club there is a perfect opportunity coming up.  The Foundation is having a badge day at the Dundee United game on Sunday 11 May.  This is an important opportunity to anchor the ethos of the club to its roots by engaging thousands of Celtic fans in the simple act of buying a badge for charity.

All monies raised will go towards supporting those afflicted by homelessness in the Glasgow area.  I volunteered to help on the day and offered to put the word around, over 100 bucketeers are needed.  If you want to help, all you’ll need to do is turn up early for the game, wear a hi-vis vest and hold a bucket, but I can assure you, you’ll enjoy it.  Email the foundation with your name and phone number: cfcfvolunteer@celticfc.co.uk .

You can just tell English commentators never want the Germans to win. Partly due to the war but also much to do with envy.

Sooner or later the huns will be back at CP. Dont matter if its Sevco, Z1 or Z2, they’ll be nastier and more bigoted than ever before, nothing surer.

They’ll be taunted with witty songs and imaginative banners, and not being renowned for a sense of humour, the hun will resort to what they do best.

Let’s see how the OB bill works then, and let’s also see how our own board view their behaviour, in light of the GB treatment.

    ht,

Thats not what I’ve been reading over the last 5 years.

The GB have been taking the derry and blurting out crap like ‘we can self police’

Rarely have they questioned the stadium security’s MO even on their own web site.

Aye they’ve had the odd dig at security and the polis but usually thats been on how they have been treated and rarely on how they operate on an HSE perspective, and any international antagonist mastermind will tell you the way to undermine authorities, is to question their competence, innit.

  10. Hamiltontim is praying for Oscar on

    Canamalar

You’re partly right that they were keen to be seen as in control of the section. However, in more recent times, prior to the disbandment, on the instigation of the GB, stewards were put in place around 111 to ensure that those without tickets couldn’t move in. They were also in place on the concourse to carry out ticket checks.

  11. Good evening friends.

Been thinking a bit (I know) and is it still the case that for cup games the away team are entitled to ask for up to 20% of the stadium capacity for their own fans. I know that few teams drawn to come to Celtic Park would bring anything like 12,000 but I can think of at least 1.

I’m asking this as I initially wondered if that was why Celtic make reference to, as they call them, Rangers on the season book renewal forms. But even if that was our club’s “excuse” they could surely just have said that any fans in blocks such and such were not guaranteed a ticket in the event that any cup opponents take up their full 20% allocation.

Mention of “The Rangers” on the renewal pack will not stop me supporting my team and renewing. But in the event that we ever have to play a game against them at Celtic Park then my seat will remain empty – i.e I’d buy my ticket but not go.

    Mini-rant over.

Ernie I’m sorry but that isn’t an answer to my question.

What I’m getting at here is something I think everyone has ovrlooked. We all know and understand the issues re the data protection act and how it effects buisnesses such as Celtic etc.

My point is about what the Police are legally allowed to do with the information gained from the detention of an individual at a football game.

Now when I was younger I was, on a couple of occasions, detained and charged by the Police for assault. After one particular trial in which I was found not guilty I was concerned about the 2 officers using the fact that they knew my place of work and my employers name to cause me difficulty with my employment by informing the boss that I had been charged with certain offences.

My lawyer reassured me that they couldn’t do this, I still wasn’t happy till he told me that once I was found not guilty the Police were oblighed to distroy all my details from their records. He also stated that if they shared any information about me to anyone then THEY would themselves be commiting a crime.

I can’t remember the exact details of the legislation concerned and indeed the law may have changed over the years. But I think there is something here that could be persued by those who have been banned from Celtic Park.

The move for the goal is superb and Izzie could well take a lesson out of the underlap move by the left wing back Coentrão, what a pass for Benzema to latch onto. C’ monn Bayern, Robben to score in fifteen minutes of second half.

Eddie, I think you might have a point there. My son’s lawyer had to get his permission to contact the fiscals office he had to sign a mandate today otherwise under data protection the fiscals office will not divulge any information even to the lads lawyer. The relevent section of the DPA basically states that the Police may request the details of an individual they suspect has committed a crime OR if those details can be used to prevent a crime.

In requesting details from Celtic the crime need not be football related ie PC Plod could have a description or have seen CCTV of somebody committing a crime, they’re then on duty and see an individual that may be the same person. They are within the law to request their details from Celtic.

Where I think the club have fallen down, is that they suggested (or it was suggested) that they have a fast track procedure with the club for getting those details. That in itself is not a de facto reason for concern. However, based on what we’ve heard over the last wee while it’s been open to abuse. I think after concerns were raised the club said this procedure was under review. I’ve no quotes or dates for that unfortunately – it’s just my recollection of various posts over the months.
