Wind of change set to blow through Lennoxtown

892

There appears to be nothing more than a desire to move-on behind Johan Mjallby’s decision to leave Celtic at the end of the season but it leaves the original four man coaching team of Neil Lennon, Alan Thompson, Mjallby and Garry Parker reduced down to two.  The management team needs to be rebuilt.

Assistants do more than just put the cones out and get players go through their paces.  They are an extra pair of eyes and ears, at the side of the field and in the dressing room.  When they are most effective, they are a source of learning, bringing improved techniques and ideas into the club, forcing the manager to reconsider established practices.

Strip some of the greats of their productive partners and they proved to be prosaic underachievers; Cough without Taylor was a sorry sight.  By contrast, Ferguson played the assistants’ game perfectly, swapping them every few years to enhance his stock with fresh flavour.

Alan Thompson was not directly replaced but irrespective of the speculation which constantly surrounds the club, a wind of change will blow through Lennoxtown this summer, filling the gaps in the original four man team.

If you’ve wondered about getting involved with some of the charity events surrounding the club there is a perfect opportunity coming up.  The Foundation is having a badge day at the Dundee United game on Sunday 11 May.  This is an important opportunity to anchor the ethos of the club to its roots by engaging thousands of Celtic fans in the simple act of buying a badge for charity.

All monies raised will go towards supporting those afflicted by homelessness in the Glasgow area.  I volunteered to help on the day and offered to put the word around, over 100 bucketeers are needed.  If you want to help, all you’ll need to do is turn up early for the game, wear a hi-vis vest and hold a bucket, but I can assure you, you’ll enjoy it.  Email the foundation with your name and phone number: cfcfvolunteer@celticfc.co.uk .

I stand corrected. Fair enough, the club shouldn’t be buying into the same club nonsense for fear of antagonising those with an aversion to facts.

That’s fairy nuff – the question asked by eddieinkirkmichael is where it gets murky, or where the Police just simply ‘shop you’ to Celtic because they can.

Pfayr yes you called it spot on mate. I thank you for your help heartfelt thanks actually. I will certainly buy you a drink on the 10th mate as never got the chance to do so at cqten. Just astounded at the club’s attitude.

  5. Boa tarde all.

St George (Sao Jorge) is also the patron Saint of Rio, so a public holiday here the day.

Havena read too much about tonight’s Libertadores but here’s a quick run down

    National v Velez Sarsfield

National with a few injury worries/ suspensions. Velez likely to sit in and play cautious ( which they’re good at)

    DRAW (55%)

    San Lorenzo v Gremio

SL also a few midfield doubts, but will rely on Correa/Piatti up front – if they can get the ball to them.

Gremio have lost last 3 games and ( for them) in a bit of a crisis. Whole left side of defence is out injured, so likely to be a cagey game.

    ( just) a DRAW ( 55%

    Atl National v Atl Mineiro

    Game of the night.

National Colombian league leaders are pretty solid at home, but have sweeper Medina out injured (a big miss, I reckon)

Galo’s last three games have been 0-0 but have a full strength squad tonight, including Jo and Tardelli up front.

    DRAW (65%)

    Santos Laguna v Lanus

Santos still with fundamental defensive worries will rely heavily on getting the ball forward to their front three ( especially Quintero) tonight.

Lanus going to defend a 2-1 lead from the first leg, apparently had the journey from Hell to get to Torreon.

Santos to go through on away goals. HOME WIN ( 70% )

    Right gotta nash

    Boa sorte!

Brilliant. Me, my brother and his big mate, still young, cramming into the jungle early and watching the ground fill up beyond capacity – seating hundreds on the track around the Celtic end.

Chris Morris scores and the party begins. Happy, happy chaos. Ceaser on the park at the end, Archie MacPherson leaving the TV gantry above the Jungle, walking across the pitch at the Rangers end, chanted at to ‘give us a wave’ and he punches the air to uproarious acclaim. Jumpers for goalposts…

I was surprised to get the offer of a meeting in the first place but had a great chat with John Paul about numerous things , some of which he asked not to publicise as they weren’t yet confirmed but were close to it and he didn’t want to jeopardise them .

I obviously have respected his wishes but regarding the r*****s situation he was pretty guarded , the rest of the stuff I was pleased with his responses.

Considering the offensive behaviour of Huns, Jambos and Sheep….one might expect quite a few ….aye right !!!

  14. Neil canamalar Lennon hunskelper extrordinaire on

    Clashcity.,

The only thing that annoys me about the GB is their insistence that they are responsible for self policing, IMO they should be screaming at the board about the lack of control in their section by the paid security company. How often was section 111 overcrowded to be followed by a GB reprimand from the board ? The board blamed the GB for their own inadequate security issues. People without tickets gaining access became the GB’s fault and the GB seems to take it on the chin, yet some fools think there are political masterminds running the GB for some sort of international political agenda ffs.

  15. Hamiltontim is praying for Oscar on

How ye doin my nemesis? :-)

Not strictly true re self policing by the GB.

The group have consistently complained to Celtic about those without tickets for section 111 not being stopped by stewards and subsequently leading to over crowding.

The admission of fault for the events at Fir Park was a separate issue because it took place at an away ground.

  16. Sandman

Opposite for me. Arrived much later than planned, saw the crowds at the turnstiles, and thought we’d never get in. Luckily, none of us was wearing colours, so joined the Dundee fans, in within 5 mins and walked round to join the fans further round the East Terracing. Centenary year champions. Wonder how many clubs have managed that? Maybe Sevco in 2112??

They phoned Celtic Ticket Office who helped the Police with their enquiries.

There is a definitive legal answer the above wasn’t it though.

I’ve posted it before but these issues damaged the season ticket base long, long before this season’s ticket renewals.

We did discuss the GB and my concerns as to why our support were apparently under more scrutiny than others like Aberdeen and Ajax ( damaged seats at Celtic Park ) yet no arrests or subsequent prosecutions from these groups.

  20. Coneybhoy

    Good point, well made!

Billy does not get a vote, but he is entitled to his interpretation, as are all on here, despite the efforts of some on here to close the debate. never met him personally, but been a big fan from way back, and have seen him many times, mainly at festivals it has to be said. He offers an interesting, positive and welcome outlook on how a Yes vote in Scotland could impact England.

  23. Clashcitybhoy on

    Canamalar, HT,

IMHO everyone at CP and indeed across our support needs to self police……to a reasonable degree.

That of course opens a debate on what is / isn’t reasonable, but we have shown in recent years, particularly in Europe that we can do it.

Anyway, off to play some 5s with some Jambos.

Looking forward to asking them about the safety of opposition managers at their stadium :-)
