There appears to be nothing more than a desire to move-on behind Johan Mjallby’s decision to leave Celtic at the end of the season but it leaves the original four man coaching team of Neil Lennon, Alan Thompson, Mjallby and Garry Parker reduced down to two. The management team needs to be rebuilt.
Assistants do more than just put the cones out and get players go through their paces. They are an extra pair of eyes and ears, at the side of the field and in the dressing room. When they are most effective, they are a source of learning, bringing improved techniques and ideas into the club, forcing the manager to reconsider established practices.
Strip some of the greats of their productive partners and they proved to be prosaic underachievers; Cough without Taylor was a sorry sight. By contrast, Ferguson played the assistants’ game perfectly, swapping them every few years to enhance his stock with fresh flavour.
Alan Thompson was not directly replaced but irrespective of the speculation which constantly surrounds the club, a wind of change will blow through Lennoxtown this summer, filling the gaps in the original four man team.
If you’ve wondered about getting involved with some of the charity events surrounding the club there is a perfect opportunity coming up. The Foundation is having a badge day at the Dundee United game on Sunday 11 May. This is an important opportunity to anchor the ethos of the club to its roots by engaging thousands of Celtic fans in the simple act of buying a badge for charity.
All monies raised will go towards supporting those afflicted by homelessness in the Glasgow area. I volunteered to help on the day and offered to put the word around, over 100 bucketeers are needed. If you want to help, all you’ll need to do is turn up early for the game, wear a hi-vis vest and hold a bucket, but I can assure you, you’ll enjoy it. Email the foundation with your name and phone number: cfcfvolunteer@celticfc.co.uk .

I always thought the appropriate patron saint of England was Lord Rothschild… :-)
I know what you mean, Tony but for me , honesty is involved and whilst yours is an unconditional and honest support, I don`t feel that Celtic are being as honest as I would like over the ” Rangers” situation. Having said that, I need more time for the divorce so I will be back next season 0:-)

DT – You don’t need to post every thought that you have. We generally all already know anyway.
Young hungry Italians? I can think of a fusilli ones.
Choos well you did young JJ ;)
My friends in Celtic,
Regarding possible candidates for NFL’s assistant.
What about ex Celt Steve Keen.
He is currently managing Brunei DPMM but would maybe welcome a return to Paradise. He never quite made it as a player for us and there would possibly be some unfinished business.
Incidentally the club is owned by the crown prince. Played its football in Brunei, moved to the Malaysian league and now plays in Singapore’s S league. All moves sanctioned by FIFA.

Hun skelper,
I just caught the tail end of that on the way home. I heard Danny Kellys voice instead of that gob shite so I left it on.
I take it dk suggested he should be in with a shout? He mentioned, with a chuckle, about the number of emails he got about it.

Heard the bit I mentioned then turned off, the station could be named hunmedia or sevcomedia it’s infested with them in the afternoon HH
Looking at the manager of the year nominees
No problem with Neil Lennon. Won the league, currently 15 points ahead of the pack and currently 10 points better than last year
No problem with McInnes. Won the Scottish league cup. Improving squad
No problem with Tommy Wright. First ever Scottish cup final. Semi final of Scottish league cup. Even managed a win in the Europa league
Stuart McColl ?????
Fell at first fence in the Europa league losing 3.0 overall to Kuban Krasnodar. His team has never scored a goal or won a point in Europe in the last two years
Lost in second round of league cup to Aberdeen
Lost at the first fence to mighty Albion Rovers in the Scottish cup
So no quarter finals, no semi finals, no finals
Yet I read a quote today ” another great season for Motherwell “

I think McCall is a stick on to be the next sevco or whatever they will be called manager, so they need to keep his name in the frame.

just renew.. You know you want to
Evening all. Just thought I would say that I will not be renewing the 4 ST from my house. The main reason being that as posted about 7 weeks ago my son who has had a st for best part of 20 years was arrested at the ICT game. Now having been with his lawyer today the scenario at the moment is he has not been charged yet and although he was held for 7 hours at the police station was released without charge but they would send it to the PF to decide if he should be charged. To this day no charge has been made yet. However Celtic FC have called him a few days ago and have since sent him a letter to say that he has been banned from attending all home and away games with immediate effect. So there you have it your guilty until proved innocent in the eyes of Celtic FC.
somebody was asking earlier about a cheap van to head to Ireland …

To renew or not.
Renew chief, you would miss me throughing things at you. I know you didn’t know I did, but I keep missing!
I’ll be renewing on payday, no doubt. Not all this are rosy, but when have they ever been. The news this week regarding changes at the SFA are encouraging, and as I said to Auldheid earlier, it would not surprise me if Res.12 was used as leverage. Something made the SFA see the time for change had arrived.

bournesouprecipe: Christina Hendricks and Kate Upton would make a great management team. Though what they might manage is best left unstated …

Shocking news mate. Sadly, the actions of Celtic in these cases is all too familiar and appalling.
mighty tim
That is shocking.
Doc,
I think/hope its even better than that but mighty tims experience is not to be ignored, meybe a new resolution in the pipeline :o)

Ah yes, Billy Bragg.
One of the great political sages of our time.
He supported the Lib Dems at the last General Election.
He had his reasons though, so don’t scoff.
He voted for them to keep the Tories out.
What a guy.

And some people question why folk dont just renew,
A sad state of affairs that your name can be blackened by some wee official fud with power inside our own stadium.
Regards to you and yous sir
