‘No one said it was easy.’ How true. When I heard the Celtic line-up I responded, “Would take a 1-0 right now”. No strikers and a new central defensive pairing is not the way to start an important game.
A couple of years ago, you would have an ominous feeling right now, but with Brendan, there’s a belief that we will be prepared in Trondheim. We need to put the ball in the net. Even if we concede first, subsequently putting the ball in the net resolves a lot of issues.
My expectation is that we saw the best of Rosenborg last night. Celtic were clearly well below their best. When the teams meet again Celtic will be one week fitter, and I expect personnel changes.
For so long we missed the kind of football that knots your stomach. This one is hugely important. Enjoy the tension!

He did indeed say that. Still, that can easily be explained away too. Can`t it?
Thanks to e-Tims for this gem from Lubo.

I think that was SFA’s own disciplinary panel – the one that gave them a transfer ban that didn’t actually affect them.
Many thanks.Just so much to remember. My brain hurts.

Exactly 5 years (that’s right FIVE) of stuff to remember because we are still waiting on our game being straightened out.
Should be “Exactly, 5 years…” not “Exactly 5 years”

Been to Ripon races before and nice course, but York beckons this time.
Will be going to Ayr in November (4th) so one for the diary if you are about?
Enjoy your meets and hill walking.

No matter,if it was Nimmo Smith,or the Panel, the language used at the time was not just ,that they deserved a slap on the wrist.”One step away from match fixing “is a mighty statement, and should not be forgotten in any future review.

16 roads – Celtic über alles… on 27th July 2017 6:38 pm
Football is now one of the worst and most boring sports in the world.
Over 2.5 goals?
Lucky if there’s over 2.5 shots in a game.
Sh@ite.
HH.
====================
Hmmm…it doesn’t hand out ‘scores’ like smarties, therefore it must be crap! Maybe its your attention span thats waning. Incidentally what other sports are there where ~150 years after its invention it is still possible to see new skills being developed we’ve never seen before? Cruyff to Ronaldinho to Zidane to Messi to Mbappe… the beautiful game.
So many different ways to score a goal.
You should stick to basketball. Lots of high scoring and big numbers to keep you impressed.

Fair enough.
The rant probably more to do with a bet beaten than anything else.
A lot of people have become disillusioned with football though, particularly because of the EPL charade.
I only watch Celtic nowadays,or listen to the Celtic games on the radio.
That’s all.
Baseball is a fascinating sport, however a game can last over three hours and only finish 1-0.
A boring scoreless draw game of football is brilliant if you have it for minus 2.5 goals, however me personally always go overs so no good to me.
Corners isn’t bad for a wee interest, say over ten or whatever.
Waste of time otherwise.

We’ve had the same refrain for the last five years.
67 EUROPEAN CUP WINNERS
Rosenborg were just that extra % fitter ,more match-sharp being in their mid-season. Luckly they didnt possess the quality to capitalise on the chances that Celtic handed them.
Then a few other factors may have been at play -the system with no recognised strikers didnt work – the atmosphere was muted with no GB and a weeks negativity, perhaps the new turf. And my big bugbear -Forrests inability to find space. He has the skills and the speed but lack football intelligence. We also have a squad overloaded with midfielders but short on attackers and defenders. But I’m still hopeful of getting through to the next round.

About the time this all started to unravel, there was a poster on here who confidently predicted this would go on for TEN years or more. Can`t remember who he was. Just shows you. I thought he was talking a load of old pony.

With Craig Whyte/Wavetower/Sevco 5088 back on the scene the entire story will run for another 5 years at least.
But all the information and evidence for a comprehensive review and overhaul of the governance of the game is already at hand right now.

I went through a phase, couple of years, where I only watched Celtic. Disillusioned with the arrogance of the EPL and the fall from grace of Serie A(and disappearance from Channel 4!) but in recent years the Spanish league for the passing and individual skill and Bundesliga for the technical play and fans passion are a great watch.
And even a bit of late night Argentinian football, mental!
All beats West Brom v Watford anyway :)

See attached on Rangers taking the SFA decision to impose a transfer ban and associated fine to the Court of Session. This was Rangers using judicial review.
I see that SFA member clubs as well as FIFA are reported as being unhappy about that.
FIFA asked that Rangers were sanctioned and if they were not they would impose sanctions on the SFA and member clubs. I don’t recall any sanctions ever taking place.
So Celtic – now there is precedent in place for a club to take SFA decisions to the national court rather than CAS what say you? FIFA will presumably have imposed sanctions on the SFA? No ? Well if not why not? Did the SFA put it down to a little local difficulty yet again?
Good Morning Bhoys from a wet Central Scotland. There was a debate yesterday wither a 2-1 home win was better or not than a 0-0 draw funny that we now have Aberdeen with the 2-1 win and Celtic with the 0-0 draw the outcome of the 2nd away legs will be very interesting. H.H.
BOBBY MURDOCH’S CURLED-UP WINKLEPICKERS on 28th July 2017 9:46 am
Not bad at all!
And talking of new skills being developed, there was the Mexican, Blanco, who’d get the ball between his feet and jump to evade challenges. Not seen anyone try that since!

Yeah I appreciate the board have form for being slow or indeed non reactive in the past, but I honestly feel they won’t let this rest.
I hope I’m not disappointed but admittedly history suggests I could be naive in my view that they’ll go after this one.
You have history to back you I’m going on gut feel….. please God you’re both pleasantly surprised.

Wee Bobby Collins I remember when you could scroll back to have a laugh at the overnight moonhowlers…nowadays? Forget it… moon howling has become a serious business now mate. Day walkers have always been a sordid lot, except for negatron who is funny, especially in these times of trial and tribulation. I blame Henrik . He spoiled us. Took my girls to the Lyon game courtesy of my cuzzie bro Craig Judster. 10,000 at most, second string team, no GB, 0-4 gubbins and they still loved every moment. The simple joy of being in paradise. No righteous anger no trumped up politics. Just the green and white. Hail Hail.
TRADITIONALIST88
If he tried that wearing The Hoops,he’d get a yellow card for obstruction.
TRADITIONALIST88 – No worries chief.
I was still a wee bit raging because Celtic didn’t win the other night if the truth be told.
Apologies for the negative posting.
Hopefully we can get through to the next round of those stupid qualifiers, then the form will be good once again.
Slan.

Joe, we need an away goal ( or penalties). I’d take the 2-1 for that reason though I think we will both qualify.
Davido
I appreciate what you are saying, but is it going to be left to the fans to pursue this (and fund it)?
16 roads – Celtic über alles… on 28th July 2017 10:02 am
I think we’ll be fine next week, Rosenborg missed their chance to take control of the tie and will be nervous from the off about losing goals.
Plus some of our away displays were better than our home displays last season. Think we’ll be fine.

If anyone has it on vinyl for sale I would be happy to purchase said record.

I don’t think Celtic would ever take the whole thing to judicial review. I fear the club are far too conflicted. They do not have a clean pair of hands that can honestly say they didn’t assist in bringing Rangers back into Scottish Football. E.g. They favoured Rangers starting again in the 1st Division. The total lack of traction on Resolution 12 from the clubs perspective. The lack of any real protest at the abominable position Rangers, the SFA and the SPL have put Celtic in.
TRADITIONALIST88 – I think that you could be right.
We should score at least two goals over there, hopefully that’ll suffice.

If you did not obey the rules and and have been found guilty of cheating by the highest court in the land, then the people who run the game here in Scotland have to make a decision on what the consequences should be, the leaders of our game went out and got a QC to defend the club who where caught cheating, making us the only country in the world to condone cheating, its as simple as that, free masonery @ its very best, roll over Scotland fans and get your belly tickled, “fighting Scots” what a myth that is.

Definitely at the Stadium of Light.
Interesting to hear the Rosenburg player saying what a joy it was to hear the celtic fans begin to boo their team and how that gave them a good feeling about their chances.
I never heard booing as such but the sentiment and General moaning and groaning of the spectators was palpable.
The contrast with the energy at Aberdeen ( normally sweetie paper rustlers ) even when it went to 1-1 is significant.
A big benefit of the much maligned green brigade is to mask the moaning whinging nervous crowd at CP.
I also think this was exaggerated by the arrogance of many who did not realise this was our toughest game since Man City at a time when we were bereft of strikers and limited CB options and pre season yet still folk expected an easy win.
These dynamics and the attitude of Rosenburg who are talking themselves up to favourites can work for us hopefully in the away game ….. If we can neuter their Aberdeen type support ….
