With Brendan, there’s a belief

620

‘No one said it was easy.’ How true. When I heard the Celtic line-up I responded, “Would take a 1-0 right now”. No strikers and a new central defensive pairing is not the way to start an important game.

A couple of years ago, you would have an ominous feeling right now, but with Brendan, there’s a belief that we will be prepared in Trondheim. We need to put the ball in the net. Even if we concede first, subsequently putting the ball in the net resolves a lot of issues.

My expectation is that we saw the best of Rosenborg last night. Celtic were clearly well below their best. When the teams meet again Celtic will be one week fitter, and I expect personnel changes.

For so long we missed the kind of football that knots your stomach. This one is hugely important. Enjoy the tension!

Re the “better score” issue, what is true is that if both second leg matches were to end 0-0 in ninety minutes, Aberdeen would be through. Hard to see how that’s not a better scenario than we’d be facing.

Cheers for that. I thought that was the case, it was the Ad on here which was creating doubts. CelticQuickNews? Pffft!

    =============

Sorry to jump in. This is true but the chances of both ties finishing 0-0 are relatively remote. So given you have to play the 90mins, its then about the mindset of the players. Technically Aberdeen can sit back until they lose a goal, but if they lose a goal its hard to just flick a switch and reverse the run of play. Whereas we’ll be at Rosenborg from the start and they will be nervous about losing even 1 since they didnt score.

I actually agree with you but its an interesting question.

Forgetting the first legs and concentrating on the playing squads only, I think we’ll go through no problem with a stronger starting 11 and Aberdeen is 50/50

JJ has been driving a coach and horses through their attempts to bolster the laughable Continuity Myth through their legal advice.

    One example

“It is recognised that the effectiveness of a historical sporting sanction is not a straightforward concept. For present purposes, unless counsel advises otherwise, what might be considered effective in the case of a Championship or Cup might be an order that its award is withdrawn ab initio and a direction to Newco and Rangers FC that it does not represent that it was a Championship or Cup won by Rangers FC. It is understood that the historical awards of Championships or Cups are amongst the ‘assets’ of Oldco purportedly ‘sold’ to Newco, through the agency of the administrators by Oldco, in June 2012; so that Newco might now be sanctioned by SPFL if it did not cease to claim that such an award stood in the records of Rangers FC.

This also does not arise given my answers to the preceding questions.”

JJ: This is risible nonsense. I have seen the bill of sale to Charles Green. It is itemised. Green’s counsel referred to it in court as a basket of assets. He specified that Rangers no longer exist. He did not buy their history. He could have inherited their history if the CVA had been successful. ‘Purported’ by whom. . . . ?

Came across a conversation on Twitter last night, where a guy who actually streams live games said Celtic were cracking down on the illegal streams more than any other club in the UK. And with more success too, according to him. I won`t name him on here, obvs.

  6. The cup titles were not sold, the SPFL awarded them as part of the lie about continuation, to reinforce no doubt they are the same club and broadcasters can sell “old firm games” totally corrupt even for football it takes the biscuit

  7. Anyone waiting on our plc challenging the cheating , are wasting there time . They have deliberately hung off waiting on this scandal going away . Why ? Now there is a question , why indeed. Football in this country has gone . It has no credibility ,run by cheats for cheats . When this is all swept under the carpet , we will still be going to watch the celtic knowing fine well , we are watching a rigged game . I have been following the club over sixty years , the only thing I thought would stop me was ill health or worse . I never thought I would be considering stopping due to blatant cheating , and corruption , but sadly that’s what my consideration is now . My only hope is and I was gladdened by BRTH post the other day , that he saw a wee loophole or two , and a fan challenge may be an option . If I have picked this up correctly , I ask BRTH. AULDHEID , and the other fansite leaders to get together and mount this challenge , if we can raise the roof for Palestine , then I’m sure we can collectively raise enough to take on these people who have ruined the game of football in this country to aid one rotten to the core club .

  11. When and only when will CFC put out a statement will be the time to either draw your swords (as many have already done) or let them get on with it, when it’s appropriate and only when, will CFC release a statement, it’s a case of many and there are many in here (malcontents) who just want to cause it and will not give the club a chance, in they’r minds the club is the enemy, well! If that is the case let’s see what the club statement will be, unlike the malcontents in here, CFC are held responsible for statements they give out, it’s like watching a baying bunch of nutters on crack in here at times relentlessly pushing they’r agenda, PS no matter what CFC put out, they will rip it apart, it’s what they do best, in fact it’s all they do, if they had an original thought in they’r brain, I’m sure it would find itself very lonely, easily led is the term for it, way of the world I suppose, president of the USA Donald Trump, who da thunk :))

It’s been pointed out that Rosenborg will have to come out more over there, which will suit us, as there will be more space to exploit. Yet, at 1-2, they would have been under even more pressure to expand their play, knowing they have to score in the 90 minutes. The 0-0 affords them leeway to be more patient, with the crowd being more tolerant of that than they might be from being a goal behind.

    Hope your prediction’s right!

Celtic fans have been called paranoid conspiracy theorists for as long as there have been Celtic fans.

    Time proved us right.

If Celtic now decide to do nothing, then we will be left with the unthinkable conclusion that our enemies will always conspire against us,and that you just never know quite who your enemies are.

Time has also proven something else.

That we always win. Long game or not.

The truth will out. If someone in our club is conspiring against us to save his own neck,he should brush up on his history.

A real Celtic man would never need to do that,of course. We know our history.

And we know how to win.

    Or why.

  23. BFDJ the number one DOB look for more of this to come from others.

Now there will be supporters that will put pressure on their directors not to let this lie because they feel, wrongly, that Rangers had an advantage during that period. That is nonsense.

In relation to the tax issue, that was for HM Revenue and Customs to deal with and that was nothing to do with the League. In terms of the football authorities, the Lord Nimmo Smith commission was held and Rangers were fined £250,000.

That was the punishment that was handed down at the time and nothing further can be done now, but I fear it won’t go away because you will still get a fringe that want to hammer Rangers.

As far as the SPFL are concerned now, the matter is closed after they took their own legal advice. That should be that and I think they have got it spot on.

It would be great if we could say that is it over and that we could move on. Our game isn’t in the best state and we should be getting everyone together to help improve things.

Instead, there are people focusing on one club and trying to drive them into the ground. They should drop it and look at their own team rather than having a go at another side.

Rangers have done more for the lower leagues of Scottish football than any other club has in the history of our game as the supporters have travelled up and down the country in their thousands.

The clubs have benefitted, the towns have benefitted, the local businesses have benefitted and they have helped every team from League Two to the Championship.
