World class deficit of self-awareness

1194

The word of the day is anosognosia, def. a deficit of self-awareness.

While discussing his Fit and Proper examination by the SFA, Dave King told the media that “If the level of detail that was applied to me was applied to Craig Whyte then he would never have taken over the club.  The club would have had a chance.”

It was Dave King’s job to examine Craig Whyte’s Fit and Proper status, not the SFAs!!!  Dave King was on the board which approved Whyte’s takeover.  The SFA were not and should not have been involved in determining the suitability of Whyte’s appointment, which was the exclusive responsibility of the Rangers board.

The SFA subsequently sanctioned the club for failing to carry out its duty in this respect.

Let’s look at that quote again and allocate responsibility:

“If the level of detail that was applied to me was applied to Craig Whyte [by me, when it was my job to do so]then he would never have taken over the club.  The club would have had a chance.”

There is no Fit and Proper test.  Criteria are published to allow clubs to determine the suitability of appointments.  Whyte did not meet the suitability required.  If anyone on the Rangers board had taken the trouble to check Whyte’s credentials (which they had a fiduciary and SFA obligation to do so), and informed the SFA of their findings, Craig Whyte would have been stopped in his tracks.

A note to my friends in the media:

Guys, ignoring stuff like this is why people said you were compliant with Whyte, Green and Murray.  Don’t come back a year from now and say you didn’t know.

Dave King is a gift.  You know what he’s going to do, you know how this ends.

Walk for Tony

As most of you will know, RWE lost his son, Tony Conway, earlier this year to MND.  12 of Tony’s friends are walking 100km tomorrow and Sunday, from London to Brighton.  If any CQN’ers are local, they’re looking for moral support more than money, so here’s the route they’re taking.  They start on Twickenham Road at 9:40 tomorrow morning, hoping to reach Brighton around 7:00 on Sunday.

Tony appears to have inspired a lot of people, which is a none too shabby legacy.

It’s season ticket Deadline Day!!

It would be nice if a chairperson from one of the clubs asked the SFA to give a scenario where someone would actually fail the fit and proper pish!

Congratulations. In today’s word, any job is a good one to have. And to find one that excites you is a a blessing indeed. And to have someone who is so excited to be teaching can only be a good thing for you and also for the youngsters who will be fortunate to be your students.

they were selling a pint of Stellar Toroise for £1.70. I applied for residency…still waiting to hear back…

Hamiltontim – Me too, really looking for to Sunday. I love days like Sunday, you can see the players enjoy it at the end as well. Seeing the joy on the faces around you as well, I might even hug the moaning old git in front of me who hates Izzy, might be taking this too far now….

  22. mike in toronto on

On my travels around the world, I have seen many, many peole wear jerseys from Real, Barca, Bayern, Man U, Chelsea ( more recently) and the like …

But, having spoken to many of them… very few are true fans of those clubs… (some are, for sure, but most have seen them on TV and like a winner….)

What do we want for Celtic? Do we want to sell the most jerseys? Do we want to win the most CL trophies? For me, that would be great, but they are (i) gravy, and (ii) not the most important thing?

I dont care if we win the most trophies …. even in Scotland. If we are honest, and play well, and lose fairly, I will still be proud.

But, if Celtic can be an agent for change … if we can bring about some real change in Scotland… help to end the bigotry and discrimination….. and, given its power and position, I think it can help to do so … maybe we start by insisting that the SFA get cleaned up ….then, I would be more proud of being a bhoy than I would ever be because Celtic won a tin cup.

The people that are pushing for Celtic to be something more than a team that wins trophies, or ends the fiscal year in the black ….(those things are important for certain, but they dont define us) …. those are the people I want supporting Celtic, and equally importantly, running Celtic.

  23. Morrissey the 23rd on

I did pose the question on CQN, should I renew or not. I probably shouldn’t have as nobody really cares, nobody really cares, nobody really cares. I don’t feel bullied by anybody. I am disappointed in some but that was to be expected. I’m also grateful for the positive words of many which is also to be expected as there are so many lovely people spend time in here. The responses was pretty much what I expected, so have had no effect on my views.

I am glad I just asked a simple short question and didn’t mention such things as the secret five-way agreement; the non-statement or action from Celtic on issues such as Doncaster’s ‘same club’ claim; who abstained and who didn’t, and why on King’s P&PP green light from the SFA.

I could go on and on and on but what is the point. Nobody really cares, nobody really cares, and nobody really cares. We are a club like all the others. The sound of Celtic. Silence.

Perhaps like PL I would be more effective pissing from the tent than outside it. I mean in theory of course as there is little or no evidence it has been effective at all.

  24. Captain Beefheart on

Kev,, if my employees had credible threats made against them by backward hun goons, I wouldn’t be eager to speak. I guess that I am a soup taking, back ofthe bus type though.
