World class deficit of self-awareness

1194

The word of the day is anosognosia, def. a deficit of self-awareness.

While discussing his Fit and Proper examination by the SFA, Dave King told the media that “If the level of detail that was applied to me was applied to Craig Whyte then he would never have taken over the club.  The club would have had a chance.”

It was Dave King’s job to examine Craig Whyte’s Fit and Proper status, not the SFAs!!!  Dave King was on the board which approved Whyte’s takeover.  The SFA were not and should not have been involved in determining the suitability of Whyte’s appointment, which was the exclusive responsibility of the Rangers board.

The SFA subsequently sanctioned the club for failing to carry out its duty in this respect.

Let’s look at that quote again and allocate responsibility:

“If the level of detail that was applied to me was applied to Craig Whyte [by me, when it was my job to do so]then he would never have taken over the club.  The club would have had a chance.”

There is no Fit and Proper test.  Criteria are published to allow clubs to determine the suitability of appointments.  Whyte did not meet the suitability required.  If anyone on the Rangers board had taken the trouble to check Whyte’s credentials (which they had a fiduciary and SFA obligation to do so), and informed the SFA of their findings, Craig Whyte would have been stopped in his tracks.

A note to my friends in the media:

Guys, ignoring stuff like this is why people said you were compliant with Whyte, Green and Murray.  Don’t come back a year from now and say you didn’t know.

Dave King is a gift.  You know what he’s going to do, you know how this ends.

Walk for Tony

As most of you will know, RWE lost his son, Tony Conway, earlier this year to MND.  12 of Tony’s friends are walking 100km tomorrow and Sunday, from London to Brighton.  If any CQN’ers are local, they’re looking for moral support more than money, so here’s the route they’re taking.  They start on Twickenham Road at 9:40 tomorrow morning, hoping to reach Brighton around 7:00 on Sunday.

Tony appears to have inspired a lot of people, which is a none too shabby legacy.

It’s season ticket Deadline Day!!

Would `ordinary` onions and malt vinegar do the trick for that red onion and balsamic vinegar dish mentioned the other day?

A job on sevco’s board will lead to a lucrative deal on the SFA and maybe UEFA all these positions make for a decent pension.

Here we are, huns united behind their Chosen One.

Guaranteed a bigger sale of Season Tickets next season than us because they have The Chosen One,who will lead them to The Promised Land.

Meantime,Celtic are doing all they can to help them along the way. The board facilitated The Clumpany, and the fans ain’t buying into it anymore.

Fellas, the board screwed up by assuming the law applied equally. Not through malice, simply through trust and precedent.

Don’t buy yer Season Ticket if you don’t want to. It’s your choice.

I won’t think any less of you,and I’ll still make my contribution

It’s a personal decision. And for those who are walking away,a hard one. I respect their stance.

But I disagree with it. We need all hands on deck.

True – but he’s (apparently!) got so much cash that I just don’t see why he needs that? Maybe I’m just too cynical but I don’t believe the cover story or helping hs boyhood heroes etc. and I can’t figure out his angle. Perhaps you’re right but I can think of easier ways for him to secure a pension.

I respect your argument but only to a point.

If as you say CFC have colluded in this – can you point out where the board has made money or even a better line from the press? Surely if PL and our board were in on this scam the word would have gone out – go easy on the Tims – they’re really our pals?

If so I must have missed out on all those stories about how great we are or how all our players want to stay!

Don’t get me wrong if I had been in PL shoes I would like to think I would have been straight out there and broadcasting to everyone ” they’re dead – the war is over! The rebels have won – again!” but I’m not nor was I of some of my staff to whom I have a duty of care getting sent letter bombs and bullets!

If we are unhappy at the SFA – we can either work to change it or leave.

Why on earth should a club that has done nothing wrong – voluntarily leave and let the cheats win?

We need to bring people with us – that’s the same people who were cheated along with us by the died Huns – we cannot just make them!

I would finish by saying that there are many people who cannot get to games because of their financial position – they remain CFC supporters.

However should you chose not to support the club financially when you are in a position to do so – then in my eyes you can no longer claim to be a CFC supporter – you would be an individual who has leanings towards CFC. Our club was built and was rebuilt with the active financial support and work of our community. In 1888 many could have stood aside but those didn’t stepped up and built the club from its foundations. In 1994 thousands including my own mother spent £600 – £1200 (that was a big sum of money to her just after my dad died) because they believed in Fergus but above all because they believed in the club.

The club to me is far more than the board or the manager or the players – they come and go as you say – the club is the living embodiment of our community then – now – hopefully for ever.

If you have a problem with the board do something positive and work with those who would change our direction like the Celtic Trust!

But work within the club and support the club against those who seek to divide and weaken us!

I can be as critical of the board over the financial restrictions that they place on our managers. I have been critical of Ronny as a manager – still not entirely sold on him BTW.

But all that is for here – I share those criticisms with fellow CFC supporters.

To everyone else I put on a show of support and solidarity!

We don’t have the TV riches that the EPL has – the club needs our support if they are to progress on the field!

Please reconsider and work from within!

    UK footprint

It is already well known that in the UK, there are geographic patterns to foot size.

“There is a known factor in the industry that the Celtic foot is broader than the rest of the UK, for example,” explains Laura West.

The “Celtic foot” is a very long term trend, but short-term changes could also affect foot size, making this market sensitive data for a shoe firm.
