World class deficit of self-awareness

1194

The word of the day is anosognosia, def. a deficit of self-awareness.

While discussing his Fit and Proper examination by the SFA, Dave King told the media that “If the level of detail that was applied to me was applied to Craig Whyte then he would never have taken over the club.  The club would have had a chance.”

It was Dave King’s job to examine Craig Whyte’s Fit and Proper status, not the SFAs!!!  Dave King was on the board which approved Whyte’s takeover.  The SFA were not and should not have been involved in determining the suitability of Whyte’s appointment, which was the exclusive responsibility of the Rangers board.

The SFA subsequently sanctioned the club for failing to carry out its duty in this respect.

Let’s look at that quote again and allocate responsibility:

“If the level of detail that was applied to me was applied to Craig Whyte [by me, when it was my job to do so]then he would never have taken over the club.  The club would have had a chance.”

There is no Fit and Proper test.  Criteria are published to allow clubs to determine the suitability of appointments.  Whyte did not meet the suitability required.  If anyone on the Rangers board had taken the trouble to check Whyte’s credentials (which they had a fiduciary and SFA obligation to do so), and informed the SFA of their findings, Craig Whyte would have been stopped in his tracks.

A note to my friends in the media:

Guys, ignoring stuff like this is why people said you were compliant with Whyte, Green and Murray.  Don’t come back a year from now and say you didn’t know.

Dave King is a gift.  You know what he’s going to do, you know how this ends.

Walk for Tony

As most of you will know, RWE lost his son, Tony Conway, earlier this year to MND.  12 of Tony’s friends are walking 100km tomorrow and Sunday, from London to Brighton.  If any CQN’ers are local, they’re looking for moral support more than money, so here’s the route they’re taking.  They start on Twickenham Road at 9:40 tomorrow morning, hoping to reach Brighton around 7:00 on Sunday.

Tony appears to have inspired a lot of people, which is a none too shabby legacy.

It’s season ticket Deadline Day!!

I’d like to see Celtic become an official charity. Is this not why we were formed? Does anyone know of a mechanism to change a PLC to a charity?

I don’t give a monkeys what anyone thinks about me for the way I follow my team.

I’ve got too many other more important things going on in my life to worry about that.

Right now I am delighted to be a Celtic supporter.

I lived through threats, assaults, abuse from huns when I was younger.

Why would I let a Celtic “supporter” get on my nerves now?

I didn’t see any point in asking the club about Res12 when the supporters involved feel that they’re not in a position to talk about it.

  7. Celtic have been ‘plastic’ since…McCann got rid of all the rebels off the board then, locked the Celtic supporters outside their club after, making the promise that the fans would own their club…not one person or, one family.

McCann has been described in circles as a hero for getting rid of Farry.

So, if McCann knew that the fix was in, in his 1st week in control of the club when, the SFA told him that he’d have to pay a kings-ransom to hire Hampden for a season and, refused him to rebuild Celtic Park in stages….why then, did McCann wait until his last days in office…5 years larter, to get rid of Farry?

Was it to protect his going away money?

  8. Why don’t we all gather outside the ground tomorrow and boo the champions and the board.

    Close them down I say!

And that will be the end of it.

Don’t care about sevco,Celtic board or any other mind numbing reason you have for not going to watch Celtic. I do and the constant anti-Celtic agenda on here won’t change my mind.

Some random thoughts for a Friday …. (and I will be in and out of meetings, so if anyone does read this and replies, I may not be at my computer to respond immediately…. so apologies in advance if I dont respond right away).

lack of self-awareness?! Good word, and certainly applies to the Govan Graveyard….

But, increasingly, and sadly, it seems to apply equally to us.

They were so busy focusing on winning trophies and putting one over on us, no one was watching their stewards, and this allowed DM and those who succeeded him to steal the family silver. We are so busy laughing at them(and CQN is so busy telling us to look over there, and laugh at them), no one is watching what is being done at Celtic Park.

Everyday, CQN focuses its critical light on Sevco. But, where are the articles asking (quite reasonably, I would suggest) what did Celtic know about this mess. Who is minding our store? It might be that we are clean on all of this, but, the fact is we should know, but Celtic refuses to speak about this ….

We are told what PL/DD want to tell us…. but key information has been and is being withheld from Celtic supporters and shareholders.

For example,we all want to know (or at least we should want to know if we do care about the integrity of our league and team) about Celtic’s involvment in the 5 way agreement (and are drip fed information from Celtic and CQN, but the silence on that – a key issue – is deafening). Can one person on here say that they know what Celtic’s role was or wasn’t in it? What was that word, again? ….anosognosia?!

And while we have been distracted by laughing at them, have ‘returned’ to the SPL …

Most on CQN claim that the Zombies are not the same team, but Celtic have not said that, and in fact, refered to ‘Rangers’ on the Celtic website, and even yesterday SF ( A Celtic employee) spoke about the return of the OF. Anyone who thinks Celtic haven’t factored Sevco’s ‘return’ into their planning is, I believe, mistaken. I say ‘believe’ because, once again, Celtic dont share that, or really any, information with the fans.

The failure of Celtic fans to be alarmed by this is … oh… what is that word again? Oh yeah….anosognosia.

P67’s work is good, and amusing … but incomplete – the light he shines on Sevco and the SFA needs also to be shone on our own club.

    Will check back in later.

  20. I’m not from a football supporting family, so I go on what a lot of the older contributors say about the past.

It seems to me it was at least as corrupt and racist in the past, of course we didn’t have the social media that we have now, so discussions were between closer friends and perhaps it was quite so known about in the wider world.

People still attended though, and your elders took you and introduced you to the love of going to CP. If they felt the game was corrupt and the authorities anti-Celtic, I guess they defied that. They wouldn’t be suppressed. They wouldn’t give it.

My 6yr old doesn’t understand why I might not go but he does understand the joy of seeing a Celtic goal. He wants a season ticket. I won’t deny him that joy.

I’m not sure how he’ll manage the bus and train on his own though. He’s not that streetwise.

I remember the days when you went to the games on a Saturday, went down to the club for the bus, had a few pints with your mates and talk about what team would be out that day, how the opposition were playing and who should we be watchful of in their team. Hoping to see a few goals and keep a clean sheet. Back on the bus discussing who played well, who had an off game, friendly banter with one of your mates if his favourite player played badly that day. Back into the club for a few pints still discussing the game then looking forward to who we were playing next weekend.

Now you have to be an accountant, lawyer, economist, conscientious objector, apologist, supporter/non supporter and that’s before you even buy a fecking pint !

Good on ye, I share your feelings of pride.

  28. Well…..it is said on here and elsewhere that..the huns are shameless.

Well….where was the Celtic fans shame when, the Dons fans displayed

their banner – “You Silence Is Deafening!”…..eh?

You see, the Celtic fans were to busy gorging on the mountains of

jelly & ice cream coz, the huns were voted out the league.

But…crucially…yeez took yer eye off the ball coz, they were granted a licence

to come back and…do the same again…and they will.

Jelly & ice cream gluttony led to you all, sitting back and ‘not’ hammering the

stake through the hun-orcs heart and finishing them off.

The huns shouldn’t have been allowed back into the game of football until, they had been properly investigated and….paid back the full amount of what they stole.
