World class deficit of self-awareness

1194

The word of the day is anosognosia, def. a deficit of self-awareness.

While discussing his Fit and Proper examination by the SFA, Dave King told the media that “If the level of detail that was applied to me was applied to Craig Whyte then he would never have taken over the club.  The club would have had a chance.”

It was Dave King’s job to examine Craig Whyte’s Fit and Proper status, not the SFAs!!!  Dave King was on the board which approved Whyte’s takeover.  The SFA were not and should not have been involved in determining the suitability of Whyte’s appointment, which was the exclusive responsibility of the Rangers board.

The SFA subsequently sanctioned the club for failing to carry out its duty in this respect.

Let’s look at that quote again and allocate responsibility:

“If the level of detail that was applied to me was applied to Craig Whyte [by me, when it was my job to do so]then he would never have taken over the club.  The club would have had a chance.”

There is no Fit and Proper test.  Criteria are published to allow clubs to determine the suitability of appointments.  Whyte did not meet the suitability required.  If anyone on the Rangers board had taken the trouble to check Whyte’s credentials (which they had a fiduciary and SFA obligation to do so), and informed the SFA of their findings, Craig Whyte would have been stopped in his tracks.

A note to my friends in the media:

Guys, ignoring stuff like this is why people said you were compliant with Whyte, Green and Murray.  Don’t come back a year from now and say you didn’t know.

Dave King is a gift.  You know what he’s going to do, you know how this ends.

Walk for Tony

As most of you will know, RWE lost his son, Tony Conway, earlier this year to MND.  12 of Tony’s friends are walking 100km tomorrow and Sunday, from London to Brighton.  If any CQN’ers are local, they’re looking for moral support more than money, so here’s the route they’re taking.  They start on Twickenham Road at 9:40 tomorrow morning, hoping to reach Brighton around 7:00 on Sunday.

Tony appears to have inspired a lot of people, which is a none too shabby legacy.

It’s season ticket Deadline Day!!

I do not know! That was my point. Until I do, I will continue to enjoy supporting Celtic.

  2. Jungle Jim. I am slightly worried by your capitalisation around the word fact. But I will let that slip.

What you are advocating here is the same as kkeevins and co saying that if a Celtic fan doesn’t say he wants the Huns back he/she is lying. It’s an old favourite of discredit those with other views who must be wrong otherwise it means I am wrong.

  3. jj,

And by the same token, some people are suspicious as to why we have not been told the facts and have taken their decision as you have.

Just renewed my ST. For me it was an easy decision, I have the money and I enjoy going to Celtic Park.

2 seasons ago I didn’t get a ST as I thought I’d be working most weeks, but as things worked out I was able to attend most home games which on a match by match basis is a bit more costly than a ST.

I’m now working in Shetland and will probably be there come the start of the season so I expect to miss the odd game. I’ll offer the seat to someone else and hopefully it wont be empty.

For me whether Sevco are in the league matters not a jot as I want to watch Celtic, who the opposition is isn’t high on my priorities though tbh I am hoping we get into CL group stages and draw the likes of Bayern or Real. Give me euro nights under the floodlights anytime over games against Sevco. I actually hate those games. I hate the hate that they bring out in people, I hate their songs and I hate what the game brings out in me. So for me I personally hope they stay in the lower division at least another season.

Looks a healthy queue at the ticket office of people renewing, good to see….:)

  12. Croppybhoy that is an excellent post. For all the reasons you mentioned I found my decision not to renew pretty gut wrenching.

But let me give you my perspective. We all know of the cheating and racism we have endured and you are correct. Our forefathers fought against it.

The latent racism in Scotland still sadly exists. Within Scottish football, as Paul is want to say. Things have changed forever. The Huns hubris broke them. But then we saw how the SFA rallied to their cause. Rules have been broken and or ignored. The media, Scottish politicians, footballing authorities etc are peddling the big lie. They are stuffing it down our throats.

And the board at Celtic are doing the same.

And that’s the important part. All that fighting against the cheating and discrimination. Fighting for our place, being cheated over and over. And the opportunity arises to end it. To change things for good. And Celtic? They did worse than nothing. The colluded to get the same old racism and cheating ably reinstated.

They have betrayed us and like judas they did so for money.

This reveals to us that in fact the cause we are fighting for is not shared by those who run our club. They. Come from the same hue as king and the SFA. They want us to be turnstile fodder and to revert to our role of gallant underdog. They can return to calling us paranoid and all will be as it was.

    There is no going back.

But let me make something else clear. My decision not to renew does not me I am not a Celtic supporter. I am not doing it to give up as you say. I am doing it for the exact opposite. I am doing it to fight back. We need to remove the board. We need regime change at CP. we need a board who shares our fight and who shares our belief and who will not undermine U.S., or collude with our enemies or abandon us to our fate when the going gets tough.

Those of us choosing not to renew do so to take forward our forefathers fight. We have seen we have enemies within, we cannot ignore it. They must be removed.

Apologies for not replying sooner but I was out walking the dog that my girls had promised they would look after – that’s before it arrived!

I was replying to The Glorious Balancesheet who was saying that he would not renew his ST

That’s what I meant by withholding money

In answer to your question about which club helped us – do you mean Hibs who “gave” us some players? Or RFC who played in our first match?

If you mean the latter you will of course be well aware that it was their second team – sometimes called therein”Swifts” that turned out. You will also be aware that the RFC of those days was markedly different from the one that emerged after we won 6 in a row at the start of the 20th century and Glasgow suffered an influx of Harland and Wolff workers just before the Great War.

Did you not say yesterday that your decision to renew was a close one.

    reading too much media then?

Mine is based on the fact that they have managed to fob off an increase in SB price as some sort of fab reduction. Are looking to relocate Tims in order to fit in thousands of Zombies in the hope they come up. And are going to sell my bhoys SB seat for upwards of £42 quid for this game when it’s anuagural match is played at CP.

All that pisses me off big style. They are selling the zombies on the same team propaganda.

So it is very possible that I may not renew unless I happy accept my club selling the Huns as the same club to me.

As you read King’s comments, he defends himself by merely stating that he can’t remember saying things, you can only draw to the conclusion – has this man got a mental medical condition.

I know we joke about him being a liar but I’m starting to wonder if he’s got a split personality!

  23. West end of East end. Sigh. There’s a wee bit in my post where I say let me give my perspective. Is that the same as sayings it’s my opinion. Should everyone’s posts start with its only my opinion? How tiresome.

Of course everyone’s view is valid (apart from Tony Donnelly of course). I haven’t been saying everyone should not renew. I wouldn’t do that now given how hard I actually found it. I wish we would in large numbers because it may help us get change but I am not criticising anyone for renewing.

Tony d ignoring my wee joke above what exactly is anti Celtic about my post? Your an older chap, you should have learned to be objective by now!

Geordie my decision has got absolutely nothing do do with whether the Huns are in the league next season or not. This is about those within our club.

when I was young and care free I would be in the jungle for every game but as I grew older and had a seat and season ticket I chose not to go to games against a team that were then called rangers I had no need to sit for 90 minutes listening to and feeling the hatred of their ‘support’ Indeed the way our own supporters around me changed for those 90 mins also kept me away.

My mum who I sat with at every other game still went she loved Celtic and had to be there to see us gub them.

Conversations are so much better than posts! My decision was not close but the references to and accommodation of Rangers (sic) in the Ticket Renewal booklet pushed me closer to the line. Until and if I cross that line, though, my decision to renew is easy. Just as it will be not to renew if I ever cross that line. I do not expect to be crossing that line.

  26. I’m still unsure why King wants to be involved in sevco. The idea that he is a RRM seems to be a veneer to me. He doesn’t need to be CEO or whatever to provide funding, so he clearly wants to be directing things. Is it to use the place as a laundromat? Any thoughts?

  28. Croppybhoy,

So you stick with the emotional blackmail that the glorious balance sheet is withholding money’s due to Celtic ?

I know exactly who were the first away team to put money in Celtics pocket and I know they did not turn up to sing about Fenian blood, it was your inference that they have always been what they became that rubs the wrong way, whether we like it or not they were not always our enemy and we should not portray them as such they had become so but that was the result of a corruption. If they don’t want to remember that then that’s their issue, me I think we should always remind them of that fact even if it’s just to get up their noses.

My parents and grandparents came up similar to yours but I’d say the crowd at Celtic park is very much different now, I expect over 75% were union members over 90% were catholic! that’s no longer the case so we should not be applying the same sentiment as it would alienate too many.

What is similar is that the establishment still fear us and try to deal with us in the only way they know how, oppression.

My fear is our board support the establishment over the support.
