World class deficit of self-awareness

1194

The word of the day is anosognosia, def. a deficit of self-awareness.

While discussing his Fit and Proper examination by the SFA, Dave King told the media that “If the level of detail that was applied to me was applied to Craig Whyte then he would never have taken over the club.  The club would have had a chance.”

It was Dave King’s job to examine Craig Whyte’s Fit and Proper status, not the SFAs!!!  Dave King was on the board which approved Whyte’s takeover.  The SFA were not and should not have been involved in determining the suitability of Whyte’s appointment, which was the exclusive responsibility of the Rangers board.

The SFA subsequently sanctioned the club for failing to carry out its duty in this respect.

Let’s look at that quote again and allocate responsibility:

“If the level of detail that was applied to me was applied to Craig Whyte [by me, when it was my job to do so]then he would never have taken over the club.  The club would have had a chance.”

There is no Fit and Proper test.  Criteria are published to allow clubs to determine the suitability of appointments.  Whyte did not meet the suitability required.  If anyone on the Rangers board had taken the trouble to check Whyte’s credentials (which they had a fiduciary and SFA obligation to do so), and informed the SFA of their findings, Craig Whyte would have been stopped in his tracks.

A note to my friends in the media:

Guys, ignoring stuff like this is why people said you were compliant with Whyte, Green and Murray.  Don’t come back a year from now and say you didn’t know.

Dave King is a gift.  You know what he’s going to do, you know how this ends.

Walk for Tony

As most of you will know, RWE lost his son, Tony Conway, earlier this year to MND.  12 of Tony’s friends are walking 100km tomorrow and Sunday, from London to Brighton.  If any CQN’ers are local, they’re looking for moral support more than money, so here’s the route they’re taking.  They start on Twickenham Road at 9:40 tomorrow morning, hoping to reach Brighton around 7:00 on Sunday.

Tony appears to have inspired a lot of people, which is a none too shabby legacy.

It’s season ticket Deadline Day!!

I won’t be in Australia for the Sydney Opera House shows, unfortunately, however, I watched the video and there is a wee bit of the class and uniqueness and the trail blazer – I’ll do my own thing – of Kate Bush, about your sister.

I see know why you’re so proud.

I believe the club have stopped passing out details unless the police can prove good reason. For some reason, they were previously convinced that such details had to be passed upon request.

As for the team improving, yes it is. The personnel may lack the quality of yesteryear, but they are stronger and fitter. Much as I loved Neil to bits,he clearly felt as a manager he could not ask his charges to do what he couldn’t.

Celtic Park does need policed/stewarded properly. Especially wrt opposition supporters. But we’ve all heard on here horror stories of behaviour by fellow fans.

My Dad’s seat in the late 90s was in front of half a dozen eejits who vociferously declaimed Paul Lambert. Any time he took issue wi their garbage, they threatened to do him.

‘Twas always thus. We’re not all angels. And we don’t all have sons who will happily follow two of them into the toilets for a discussion.

  3. Croppyboy.

Well said why should our club suffer because the Huns can’t behave. We have to get behind the team and give them our full support.

  4. Croppybhoy –

I see that with season ticket renewal deadline approaching, that there is the usual discussion about boycotting .

If folks want to boycott fair enough, i’d prefer they didnt, and prefer they dodnt flag their plans on this site.

I’d also be interested to know if all those who boycott for integrity reasons also adopt same approach to airlines, car manufacturers, supermarkets, hoteliers , software companies, drug companies, sports retailers, banks etc who regularly get fined for breaching competition legislation…must be some life they lead

  6. MWD

I was referring to the word used in Paul’s article above.

You were asking for advice on whether to renew.

That could be construed as a lack of self awareness.

A joke dies when it has to be broken down and explained like that. Another victim of my inadequate quality control :-)

  7. Clashcitybhoy

Is that point not easily turned on its head?

Could you/me express a preference that those choosing to renew did not “flag” up their decision on this site?

Do those who advocate remaining loyal despite integrity reasons, still actively seek out a Starbucks and shop with Amazon, bank offshore and actively prefer fracking investments and only build houses on green belt sites?

    Some life that would be.

  8. BMCUW,

Yep we’ve always had bampots, problem now is most of them seem to have uniforms or high vis and are paid by the season ticket holders.

Got a ticket for ernies fundraiser here in perth but sadly couldnt make it due to being away at work.

Never knew or met ernie but he seemed to be held in high esteem from the rest of the perth csc

    RIP Ernie

    Faithful til the last

  11. It is interesting that we frame the question, to renew or not, to actively support rather than retire to become a more passive supporter, in terms of “not harming the club”, “not giving in to them (Rangers/SFA)” etc;

The decision gets framed in terms of those who stay are showing all the attributes of loyalty, defiance, grit and manliness,. And those who are conflicted or don’t want to be seen as condoning corruption are fearful, disloyal, less than true Celtic men.

Everyone, however, must have their own answer to the question- “What would Celtic have to do to make you dissociate yourself from them?”

A boardroom donation to the Tory Party?

An appointment of an avowed racist?

A decision to lobby for lowering the minimum wage?

A decision to actively reduce the Celtic references to Ireland in a new modern Scottish state?

A decision to hold Help for Heroes events at CP?

    Changing the club colours?

    Changing the club name?

We will all have our own bugbear. The trigger that would make us say “No Mas!”

We have heard lots of statements on here from former Labour voters on how they managed to pry themselves loose from their traditional ties and they did not consider themselves fearful, disloyal, less than true socialists.

Those that are going or considering going from active support to a less committed position will make that decision based on factors which don’t include a fear of “them”. I am clear that it is a fear of “us”.

I do not want to be in a crowd at the next game involving a club from Ibrox, hearing so many of my fellow Celts rejoicing in the fact that they are “back” cos we can give them regular doings for a brief period. That is the them I do not want to be around.

Some life that would be. AGREED

As someone said to me earlier, I would go and watch Celtic even if I was the only spectator

  13. Jungle Jim Hot Smoked on

I think (!) that those who can afford to renew but don`t have been influenced by the Media (and others) who blast the Board at every opportunity. Unless you KNOW what Celtic have and have not done and WHY they have acted in the way they have on various issues, then I have to assume you have been influenced not to buy your ticket.

Don`t get me wrong. I can understand that references to Rangers in the renewal forms seem outrageous and would be enough to put many off but, I repeat, unless the reasons for that are KNOWN, then I would continue with the support of my team until and if FACTS become available which change my feelings towards Celtic. For now, it is still a pleasure going to watch my team and I am really looking forward to Sunday.

    Hail! Hail!

Did sevco break another world record last night, by playing a loan player in a youth cup final? Just askin like?

Steady Tony – that Sevco team that played last night are the core of the first team we may need to face next season! Unless the GSL applies WD40 To the ole war chest. :-)

  16. I had to laugh reading the last paragraph of the BBC’s piece on the King’s speech:

‘He (Murray) added that the appointment of King as chairman meant the club could now start the process of relisting itself on the ISDH stock exchange and launching a share issue to raise funds.’

When I googled ISDH, it appears to be the Irish Society for Disability and Oral Health. I don’t think they’d meet the criteria for that one either.

Re Shortbread Tuesday… To have even a soberish sounding Bomber as their only mouthpiece, blurting out aggressive nonsense in the case for DCK, was desperate stuff. Surely some of thems must have cringed.

I was told a story in Glasgow Airport today by a Sevconian who said a fight started outside Ibrox after the match on Wednesday. It was hun on hun, with one bottling another over the head. They’re coming back madder and badder than before Peter.

A Couple of Days later we arrived in Perth to be met at the Airport by Big Ernie and John on a Big Bus that took us straight to the Pub..

I am most republican, I come from a most republican family, believe it or not, I like the queen, I’m even on nodding terms and ‘she’ll be right, with a couple of her son’s, the sates princes’. They have vast estates that I use d to walk often, and I often wondered… who the hell pays for their upkeep and the security of the Queen… I knew a few of the Queens personal protection squad, they were ordinary men and to a man they told me without people paying their taxes the Queen would be shafted, luckily Michael Fagen was found guilty of paying his taxes and he was not hung, drawn and slaughtered.

Taxes mate, something Dave King defrauded and you laud it, you’re shite and you know you are. You’re corrupt and you know you are, You’re tax bloggers and you know you are.
