I didn’t realise until this morning that the assault on Lukasz Zaluska’s assault by two premiership footballers was so serious as to have the player lying unconscious on the ground for several minutes. The Celtic player was out in Glasgow with his wife Sunday night before the incident.
Lukasz was singled-out for online abuse by two Dundee United players in August, one from Poland, one Scottish-born player who has represented Northern Ireland, after the Legia Warsaw Champions League qualifier. The Polish player subsequently took to Twitter to campaign for Legia’s punishment for fielding a suspended player against Celtic to be reduced.
The stories I could tell about various footballers would fill more than a few volumes, but all of the tales I’ve heard about Lukasz are that he is a polite, generous, player who repeatedly puts himself out to help Celtic fans and Poles living here. Very best wishes to the big guy, I hope we see him back soon.
If you fancy watching Sunday’s game against Kilmarnock in comfort…….. We have secured another pair of Premium Seat tickets for the Jock Stein Stand from Celtic sponsor Magners. To win the tickets answer the following question:
Which country do Thursday’s opponents FC Astra come from?
Optionally, if you have £1 available, please donate it to Mary’s Meals at this MyDonate page, which will send your £1 straight to Mary’s Meals, then send me your contact details (with or without donation confirmation) to celticquicknews@gmail.com
Competition closes tomorrow (Wednesday) at 10pm, so get your entries in now and watch your inbox Thursday morning. You can donate more than £1 if you like, of course. Terms and conditions are available here.

If AS us convited of a serious assault he should be sacked by Celtic imo .
any other employee who has a code of conduct and breaks it faces the possibility of losung his/her job, why should AS be any different.
_______________
When I worked in B&S, an employee was jailed for a year, he smashed a bloke in the face with a tumbler after an England v Scotland.
His job was held open for him.
A similar thing happened a few years ago in my present employment.
He got six months for bottling a bloke…job kept open.
Guess what both had in common?
Mickbhoy88,
yeah you are right the restaurant in the UC does close at 11,
the premises themselves are licenced until 1 oclock,
are you saying that a player out for a meal with his wife
should not be out til 1 in the morning, seems there were a few players
from various teams out until that time
THE Bhoys are back in UEFA Europa League action against FC Astra on Thursday, and will be looking to continue where they left off after Saturday’s convincing 5-0 SPFL victory over Ross County.
Ronny Deila’s men were on sparkling form from start to finish in Dingwall, and the aim now will be to piece together a string of positive results over the next run of fixtures, with home advantage in the Hoops favour in their next four matches.
Thursday’s match is not available on Celtic TV unfortunately, however our cameras will be continually rolling as always for all of Celtic’s domestic fixtures, as the games come thick and fast.
Following Thursday’s match, Kilmarnock come to Celtic Park for the 1pm kick-off on Sunday (26th Oct) if the Kilmarnock players get their bonus. The Ayrshire side sit in a false position three points above the mighty Hoops (though Celtic have a game in hand , we might get the three points anyway as if we suspect Kilmarnock do not turn up) and three points at home will be the order of the day as Scott Brown and his team-mates look to close that gap. Supporters are reminded that tickets for this match are ‘buy one, get one free’ as it probably wont be on.
Then, it’s back to cup action next midweek (Wednesday, 29th Oct, 7.45pm) – this time in the shape of the Scottish League Cup – as Partick Thistle make the short journey across the city for the Glasgow Derby, with a place in the semi-finals of the competition awaiting the winners.
The run of four home fixtures then concludes when Inverness Caledonian Thistle come calling in the SPFL on Saturday, Nov 1st (3pm kick-off) with the Highlanders looking to continue their good start to the season. Inverness manager John Hughes in particular will be keen to get one over on his old side, but the Hoops will again look to make the most of home advantage in their quest for a fourth consecutive league title.
It’s set to be a busy time at Celtic Park, but one to be enjoyed by all fans all over the world and players alike due to our robust content delivery, and you can catch never failing all the big match action continually live on Celtic TV (24 x 7).

To be honest I did think it was a bit of a dig at John Rankin linking his PFA and his Arab connections. However I take it that was not intended. Therefore no need to apologise.
A genuinely nice guy who would have nothing but contempt for such thuggery.

I heard LZ’s wife woke up in the morning and when noticed her husband was not in bad she decided to call a friend and ask him to find Lukasz. When her friend Mioduski found Lukasz near the night club he recognized his new secret missus Marta Ostrowska. Mioduski did not think twice and punched Zaluska.

Under those circumstances the perpetrator is deserving of society’s equivalent of the red card, should be removed from the field of play and have normal participation in society’s affairs suspended for a period of time.
I would rather he got the Jile instead -:)

I had to leave the blog for a while. I too think about you and your wonderful ladies. I hope things go well as much as they can in the circumstances.

But looking forward to Thursday and hopefully another Celtic win in Europe.HH
As Winning Captains mentioned earlier, the magical Andrew from the fair city of Belfast has sorted out all the Gremlins which were lurking on the cqnbookstore.com payment cart.
If you were one of those who ordered a copy of Caesar and the Assassin yesterday please reorder today/tonight to make sure you get your signed copy of the book.
We will get Davie Hay on the blog with a tale or two in the coming weeks and hopefully we can get a couple of other things up and running too – but I am not going to reveal what as it is a surprise.
Sannabhoy — you have mail — or at least you will have when I get round to finishing this post!

Members of the Orange Odour getting preferential treatment in Barr & Stroud?
Horrible sectarian company they were. The stories my uncle told me about the place were shocking, even in ’70s Glasgow.
