I didn’t realise until this morning that the assault on Lukasz Zaluska’s assault by two premiership footballers was so serious as to have the player lying unconscious on the ground for several minutes. The Celtic player was out in Glasgow with his wife Sunday night before the incident.
Lukasz was singled-out for online abuse by two Dundee United players in August, one from Poland, one Scottish-born player who has represented Northern Ireland, after the Legia Warsaw Champions League qualifier. The Polish player subsequently took to Twitter to campaign for Legia’s punishment for fielding a suspended player against Celtic to be reduced.
The stories I could tell about various footballers would fill more than a few volumes, but all of the tales I’ve heard about Lukasz are that he is a polite, generous, player who repeatedly puts himself out to help Celtic fans and Poles living here. Very best wishes to the big guy, I hope we see him back soon.

As I said before – the news about campain on twitter are not right. I follow Fojut and had seen only one tweet with Celtic name, which was Celtic v Legia 0:2 before the game in Scotland. Two guys are good mates. Both are Legia supporters. Fojut was Legia Ultras, Zaluska used to travel few tens kilometres for Legia games with his father. Fojut is wise, good guy with excellent sense of humour. I’m pretty sure when Fojut signed for Dundee he thought about his lost contract few years back and had thoughts about Celtic maybe going back for him.

Can’t agree, though I do understand your reasoning. For several years we went up against sides that on paper were much better than us yet, until last season, we largely managed to hold our own and certainly weren’t humiliated.
Now I know our overall standard of player is not what it has been since we first entered the CL as it’s now known but for a few reasons I’d always prefer us to be there.
As a supporter I think most of us count some of the CL nights at Parkhead as amongst our greatest Celtic memories and consequently we want to experience them as often as possible.
For the players and management I think they’ll improve at a greater rate if they’re up against the best and that’ll only happen in the CL.
Finally, I think for the prestige and distinction of the Celtic name, we would achieve far greater acclaim for a victory over Barca than we would for a win over Astra.

We’ve recently had a couple of incidents over here where a NFL footballer and an NHL hockey player have been suspended indefinitely for domestic violence by their respective governing bodies.
I wonder what stance the SFA take on a premeditated, serious assault?

A poster came on a while ago and according to him it’s all changed within the company, hopefully it has and all are treated equally, as it certainly wasn’t the case while I worked there.

Barca weren’t ‘our limit’ yet we still managed to beat them in the CL and knock them out of the UEFA Cup over two legs.

At the risk of getting a skelf in my erchie from perching in the fence…a season’s development in the EL this season is probably more beneficial than the CL pumpings that I fear we’d have got…….
…..but we need to he back in and competitive next season and consistently reasons of fun, £s and attracting good players.
