I didn’t realise until this morning that the assault on Lukasz Zaluska’s assault by two premiership footballers was so serious as to have the player lying unconscious on the ground for several minutes. The Celtic player was out in Glasgow with his wife Sunday night before the incident.
Lukasz was singled-out for online abuse by two Dundee United players in August, one from Poland, one Scottish-born player who has represented Northern Ireland, after the Legia Warsaw Champions League qualifier. The Polish player subsequently took to Twitter to campaign for Legia’s punishment for fielding a suspended player against Celtic to be reduced.
The stories I could tell about various footballers would fill more than a few volumes, but all of the tales I’ve heard about Lukasz are that he is a polite, generous, player who repeatedly puts himself out to help Celtic fans and Poles living here. Very best wishes to the big guy, I hope we see him back soon.
If you fancy watching Sunday’s game against Kilmarnock in comfort…….. We have secured another pair of Premium Seat tickets for the Jock Stein Stand from Celtic sponsor Magners. To win the tickets answer the following question:
Which country do Thursday’s opponents FC Astra come from?
Optionally, if you have £1 available, please donate it to Mary’s Meals at this MyDonate page, which will send your £1 straight to Mary’s Meals, then send me your contact details (with or without donation confirmation) to celticquicknews@gmail.com

Corkcelt
Congratulations to your daughter.
Have a blast on Thursday.
Hamilton Tim
As I have said before on CQN everyone is entitled to their own opinion on our great team.
As you say we should always be dining at the top table, but we are not ready at the moment IMO.As I said earlier I want us to win league and be in CL every year, but I feel the EL is probably our place at moment without further funding to compete.HH
goodnight Timland and will be saying
a few prayers for Zaluska and Lustig families they cant do any harm
HH
Just back from a 2-2 draw against scunthorpe – coudn’t hold onto a 2-1 lead against 10 men.

Looking forward to thursday – nothing less than a win

VP,
I’m sure big bada will treat you to a few beers in the your local, if not, tap JTT he’s minted.
the glorious balance sheet
Ha and I can see where you’re coming from especially in reference to the lowering of player standards in recent years.
As you say, let’s hope that we build on Saturday’s performance through until next season’s qualifiers and prepare in a manner that gives us a better opportunity than we had this season.
Jude
Some achievement mate, best wishes and God Bless to you both.
Dena
Safe crossing on Thursday and hopefully catch up before ko.
I know it is a bit early for a tune but this is one of the great folk rock songs performed in such a stunning rendition that the original band just had to get up and applaud.
Watch till the end

Zaluska just looks a decent lad!!!!
Jude, congratulations on your anniversary and I hope Josh has fully recovered from his knock on his head yesterday.
Lukasz, don’t let the b’s get you down.
I would prefer to be in the Champions League but you get the same coefficient points for a win or a draw in the Europa League as you do in the former.
It could well be in our long term benefit to be in the Europa League one season in three or four to, hopefully, build up our coefficient points which could get us a better seeding in the Champions League, providing we qualify of course.
Our last Europa League campaign helped us in the following season’s Champions League. Playing well & scoring in two away Europa League games improved our confidence.
Jude
Sorry! Of course, enjoy your large goldie. :)))
Genes
Was watching the scores live on skybet..
Jude
Congrats
Corkcelt
Best of to your daughter
Hope ML’s baby is Ok.
If I have forgotten anyone, sorry.
Thot Collum had a very decent game tonight, amazing what happens when you have different eyes from above watching you.
Betting is a mugs game, Blackpool-Derby let me down for 1250 euros for a pound, needed both to score and Derby to win, got 5 others up, once the pot is empty, no more, and this time I mean it.

All about opinions and believe me I know where you’re coming from, however, personally I’d always, always elect for us to be in there with the elite.
Corkcelt
I remember you posting a while back your reason for missing the Astra game.
My thoughts and prayers will go with you and the family on Thursday my friend.
UTLR
Corkcelt-have a great day on Thursday. Best wishes and prayers for the young couple. Hope they have a long and blessed life together.
Have been to a few good Cork weddings in my time. Enjoy every minute.
Hamiltontim
if the boat goes weather permitting I;ll see you before the game

I’m hoping Mikael’s baby is okay.
A young child especially a much loved baby being ill is very stessful.
Never going to be a CL team with our current no spend policy.
I reckon we will struggle to qualify for the CL for some time.
If we don’t get quite a few in the next window, wave bye bye to the CL next season, poss even no euro footy at all.
And I don’t think I am OTT in saying that.
HH
Sorry stessful should be stressful.
Love and prayers for Mikael and his partner’s baby.
Jude
I work with a Polish guy who lives in Dennistoun. The Zaluska family are well thought of in the East End Polish Community. I have heard many good deed stories that warms the heart about Lukasz. God bless him.

Ps where do you get the Celtic bus from in Cumbernauld.
D D
Sippin whisky course!!!
zico-maltese bhoy
The town centre but it’s not actually my actual supporters club. I’ve used the Cumbernauld CSC for a couple of years for further away trips purely because it has a toilet :-)
Are you local?
THE EXILED TIM
Collum in the Barca game shock !!!
Did okay and he played 4, yes 4 minutes injury time! He’d never get away with that here:-)
Corkcelt
All the best to you and your family for Thursday, have a fantastic day.

Italian football has fallen from its great perch. Some Italian pundits raved about Roma’s draw with Citeh (a crap CL side). Oh dear.
Chelsea hammer Maribor… Depressing on many levels
Whats the story re Mikaels wee one??
Delaneys,
I may be a contender for the Belfast trip,
but probably wont know til the new year,

Had to keep asking myself if the was the same referee I see regularly in Scotland, got the vast majority of decisions correct, kept up with play and used the advantage rule very well.
Cults Bhoy
True. Me turned it off after Terrys offside goal.
