  1. Brendan’s comment so simply put “I pick the best team for the game” – sounds straightforward, however I believe there is more behind it.

Let’s look at the dropping of McGregor after the first HBS game and Gordon after the second.

Players make mistakes – when shooting, passing…etc, however when McGregor failed to go with his runner at the HBS first goal at CP, and Gordon failed to secure the ball to cause the second goal in Beersheeva, Brendan obviously viewed these are basic professional errors and will not accept them.

The players must know now that this kind of sloppiness and/or lapse in concentration will not be contenanced, and if you succumb then you will not make the team for the next game – ruthless but interesting.

Based on your logic, after yesterday, we wont see Brown, Bitton or Lustig for 3 months.

Take care and dont be worried about keyboard hardmen

You may be a grumpy old right winger …..but you’re our grumpy old right winger.

Respect to you for your support of MACJAY1.

He is one of the most erudite and cerebral posters on the blog – right winger? – I don’t think so – the late Tony Benn would have looked right-wing in comparison to a certain rump on here.

You may well be right .

However , a settled team is surely a fundamental aim.

That was just one of my bugbears with the previous incumbent.

All the chopping and changing doesn`t create esprit de corps.

We dont talk about the “previous incumbent” on here anymore. At least I dont

You miss the point! – there is a distinction between being off-form and having a bad game, and not doing the basics that are expected of a professional.

    Yes.

I noticed an admirable absence of ” I told you so ” from your goodself.

  9. MACJAY1@12:31

Agree – I too want a settled team and I think we will get one – witness Brendan’s selection at St J, in between the HBS games.

No team should lose a goal when their keeper has the ball in his hands – especially not a potential £30 million goal.

Over the piece, I feel for Craig, however I must support the manager in all that he does, until and unless we are persuaded differently.

Chris Sutton is fast becoming a hero on here because of his honesty in his role as pundit.

Last year his honesty was greeted with yells of soup taker etc ..

We are all in a better place now.

This season is shaping up really well

No doubt there will be hiccups, obviously europe will be difficult but the upside of that is we have already succeded this year in Europe no matter what happens

Its the domestic blips that will cause some disharmony,we will lose games and will play badly ..thats football, but we are heading in the right direction

  11. See Liverpool have reconstructed there old stand, very impressive, new facilities etc,so come on Celtic do the same with the main stand.well over due.

I am not a jouro – never have been. I am a Celtic supporter of forty years plus standing and a ST holder for the last seventeen years.

I post what I think to be right in the full knowledge that some will not agree with me – some take issue and offer their own view – I welcome and respect that – however there are some whose only response continues to be name-calling, swearing and in general trying to be as obnoxious as possible – this I find boring, however it will never put me off offering my opinion.

Brendan is for me bloody marvellous .

    A breath of fresh air.

Mistakes will be made ,of course .By him and by others.

Can anyone doubt however that we are on the right road.

His choice of Dorus at the weekend was surely symbolic of a new approach.

    And a welcome one.

Thanks for your kind and totally unjustified comments.

I agree with and endorse all that you say in this post.

Chris is a acquired taste – how long he will last on BT is something that I would not bet on – however I do find him refreshing – the fact that he is a Celtic fan (“get in” at end of HBS game) is not , I assure you, an infuencing factor in my appraisil of him.

    Chris Sutton.

A star. Finally someone who calls it as he sees it.

Probably pro Celtic bias , but so what ?

A tiny redress of the pro-hun commentariat we have endured for years.

The cabal are out to get him.

At that point , I would hope that the lads take up the cudgels on his behalf.

Tail wagging the dog. If the did their job properly, there would be no problem.

  23. I have no problem with Chris Sutton or Michael Stewart giving an honest opinion backed as it is by years of experience in professional football.

What I’m not so keen on (and this is more directed at Chris tbh) is the dogmatic tone. Criticise as much as they like buta more explansive interpretation of their opinion would add more to the content.

For decades the Celtic support have complained about anti-Celtic bias amongst S.F.A. officials ( hun heavy officialdom ) and referees.

I believe that the support are absolutely right.

Anti Catholic bigotry has been an indisputable fact of Scottish life for centuries.

Why wouldn`t it be present in Scottish football ?

Chris Sutton , an Englishman ,calls it out for precisely what it is .

Altho` he cites incompetence rather than bigotry.

You`ll have to convince some of us about the root cause.

    Two midfielders required pronto.

Brown,Bitton and Johansen were utterly humiliated last season.

The defence and the forward line look formidable to me.

    Midfield is an utter shambles.

    Millions to spend.

    Let’s go Brendan?.
