No Jozo?
Reggie on
Would have played Jozo, Armstrong and Roberts instead of Erik, Bitton and Forrest, but I’ve just checked my credentials, and Rodgers CV has the edge over mine..
Logic tells me it’ll be a 4 nil defeat. Here’s to one more night of Celtic Park magic

The pace of city is a real concern, I hope for the best but fear the worst.
As long as we don’t roll over or tug or forelocks, I will be pleased.
I had a premonition Brown would score first. I know, I know…,,40-1, a wee fiver each way. What else can you do.
I think we will see a few cards tonight. We will get caught on the turn a lot and be forced in desperate last ditch stuff and they – despite their fines and skill – can be very, very physical.
They are going to play in blue and orange strips. Great, wonder how that turned out for Ajax and Real Madrid :-)
Hunderbirds are Gone on
I’ll say it now, so that I don’t have to say it later and get accused of being a Hun.
I’m surprised he has gone with Eric rather than Jozo.

I remember being at this “glamour” pre-season game in the days when there was a level playing field and we didnae play “friendlies.
Un-biased opinion but we were by far the better team and shoulda won.
Celtic 0-0 Manchester City (1970-08-04)
Trivia:
• 62,700 turn out on a sunny evening at Hampden to watch a fine game despite no goals being scored.
• Evan Williams (who had played the previous night at Carlisle and been subbed on 77 minutes when he took a knock) was rested on the bench. Billy McNeill was out with a back injury sustained in training. Both Jimmy Johnstone (ankle) and John Hughes (calf) were carrying injuries sustained in the pre-season friendlies in Ireland.
• Bobby Murdoch, captain in place of McNeill, is fielded in the unusual number 9 shorts.
• Before the game the controversial City coach Malcolm Allison boasted ‘We’ll beat Celtic because we are a better team.’
• City keeper Joe Corrigan wore a yellow Queens Park jersey for some unknown reason, probably at the referee’s request after a clash of colours. Also playing fro City was outside left Freddy Hill who had just been bought from Halifax Town for £12,500.
Review:
Both teams attack and entertain and although Fallon in Celtic’s goal has a fine game, it is City keeper Joe Corrigan who is the best man afield with a string of great saves from the Celtic forwards.
City boasted their legendary forward trio of Bell, Lee and Summerbee although they sat in and defended for the majority of the game.
In the latter stages Celtic pressed for a winner and Lennox had a goal disallowed for hand ball before Corrigan saved from a Wallace shot then Towers blocked the rebound again by Wallace.
Manchester City were one of Europe’s to clubs at this time and the Celtic crowd gave their team a fine ovation at the end as they realised Celtic should have won.
