Police Scotland and the SFA in the dock

498

Former Newco Rangers director, Imran Ahmad, made a few headlines yesterday, the most disturbing of which was: “I firmly believe Police Scotland have their own agenda and are deeply emotionally connected to Rangers Football Club. In my view Police Scotland have a clear conflict of interest.”

That’s an extraordinary claim but I’m not sure it’s supported by extraordinary evidence. There is certainly evidence that Police Scotland investigate and arrest supporters of the club at football games, where prosecution levels are comparatively high. There is not extraordinary evidence to support the claim, but perhaps that’s the point.

The police go after fans, but how does it shake down when it comes to corporate matters? Set aside issues of corporate responsibility from the early 70s, and there are no concerns of criminal activity at Ibrox until the spectre of malfeasance of recent years.

By speaking publicly yesterday Ahmad is now engaged in a PR campaign. He’s marked Police Scotland’s card. This may be the rantings of a fantasist, but we should recognise that Ahmad has been an insider at Ibrox, where he would have had the opportunity to deal with senior Police Scotland officers on a regular basis. Superficial friendships would have been struck. Ahmad would need little in the way of private support when a director of Newco to substantiate his claims.

The headline grabber from Ahmad, “What the rest of the world will never understand unless they experience it first hand is that Rangers Football Club is a religion, in itself, built on centuries of religious bigotry” is also a curious think to say.

To be fair to Newco, they can bat away accusations of religious bigotry easily. Employment criteria for them has never been questioned, but Ahmad’s stuck his neck out on an issue which I’m 100% sure he wasn’t asked about. What chance he’s made notes during his time at Ibrox of any inappropriate police behaviour, or matters which allude to religious bigotry?

Mr Ahmad is asking Crown prosecutors for a letter of safe passage. I reckon he stands a decent chance of getting one.  Now.

No matter whether they are innocent or guilty, the SFA have been landed in a very awkward situation by Ajax, who told Uefa the Association made it clear they saw no ground for action against fans chanting “Fenian b…….”

It’s inconceivable that Ajax have an email to that effect.  If they do, it will come out, and Operation Deny and Deflect will swing underway again, but these comments would surely never be committed to record, if at all.

Ajax are also in a hole.  They have made a claim and will be asked who at the SFA made the comment.  You can put your mortgage on the fact Celtic officials will ask this week.

Prejudice at the police and the SFA.  It’s been a difficult week for conspirators.

Our auction for hospitality at Sunday’s Dundee game for three people, eat and drink in the Walfrid and watch the game from the Directors’ Box, ends at 12:38 TODAY.  Check in here for your last chance to bid.  Many thanks to club sponsor Intelligent Car Leasing for donating the prize.

You will note that on Scottish society we are on same page.

Celtic are on the side that is a victim of that Society.

The idea that the club play a part in being a victim of that society in terms of encouraging it is inaccurate apart from being absurd.

If you could let go of your Celtic are to blame default position , forgive them for whatever wrong you think they may have done you, you might then be prepared to listen to where you are inaccurate.

Let me know if that happens.

Stop being outside the tent pissing in, put your negative energy into being inside the tent and start pissing out.

There is a big fire raging out there and we are going to need all the piss artists we can muster. Seriously. Get in touch.

  3. On a day off today. Just been to see my Dad who ain’t too well at the moment .

He’s a traditionalist, reared on attacking play from Celtic through the lean years of the 50s & 60s into the glory of the mid 60s and 70s.

He is a strong supporter of PL. Don’t know if it’s because he thinks he is doing a great job or because he once saw him at a mass at St Andrews Cathedral in Edinburgh!

Anyway, as usual we’re talking today about Celtic and he says he wished players/coaches would keep their mouths shut. Wishes they would do their talking on the park. Then I read the James Forrest article saying exactly the same thing.

Now I normally applaud it when players/ officials speak up about corrupt decisions.

Am I right or is my Dad and James Forrest?

  4. Naturally, using their words with extreme care, could any of our posters, Irish or otherwise, enlighten me on the following.

Last week, allegedly on the grounds that a NI Catholic had been murdered by some faction of the IRA, Peter Robinson’s DUP walked out of the NI Power Sharing Assembly.

Can anyone shed light on which particular financial scandal the above action was used as a smokescreen to divert attention from?

    Kingoh,

Communication breakdown. We have tickets for the Levante game on Saturday. Seemingly harder to get good tickets for La Liga game than the CL and I should be more thankful. A surprise is organised for tomorrow night

Any other suggestions keep them coming.

    Good question.

    Armstrong has been consistently good.

GMS has gone off the boil.

Sometimes a player loses form for no obvious reason then it returns.

It’s as much about first touch and confidence. GMS has excellent ball control but of late it’s been off. Bit see when it comes back a player knows it and with it comes confidence.

Having said thay perhaps having to double as a full back in the set up is taking a toll.

Here’s the thing – I’m not going to defend the OBFA, it’s ridiculous – however that doesn’t negate the fact that I’ve witnessed 1st hand fans of ours blessing themselves in a way that had zero to do with religion and a lot to do with winding up the opposition. Whoever propagated the term ‘aggressive blessing’ is an idiot though.

Now the fact that it was even possible to wind them up by doing that is a problem for them.

Ultimately it boils down to this. In a situation where somebody does something seeking a reaction, and they react in an illegal manner. Who is at fault – the provoker, the reactor or both?

On the music side of things I agree that’s one of the most ridiculous parts of the law. That said I don’t think listening to them is required of Irish Catholics.

  10. Auldheid,

Did you read my analogy of the circled wagons? With all of us piss out with all our might our trusty leaders are in the middle of the circle pissing on us.

I regularly bore the pants of everyone on this site listing the very very long list of things this particular board have been doing to us. It’s pretty damning.

Are you really denying that Celtic were involved in the 5 way agreement or that the celtic board silence on these matters in really sticking it to the man? Or that PL and DD have talked lovingly of the return of the Hun with all the sectarian and racist bile that would muster? Or that the Celtic board have left it to Supporters to pursue res 12?

I am however fascinated to read of my absurd, glaring innacuracies that you mention. I am a,ways willing to learn. Always.

  12. Auldheid,

Just read that appalling diatribe in the DR. Is that a new low for even that rag? That they can publish such guff in present day Scotland says so much about this country.

People who don’t think this is the most important issue facing us are simply wrong, imo. This is what we have to deal with and it is entrenched. That is the reality; some of our own folk don’t wish to admit it. It is the reality all the same. It is why the disgraceful act was concocted.

It is why our club are cheated and despised by the SFA and why it will go on.

  13. Auldheid – I am guessing that in the first few games for us, GMS played his natural game before our training, coaching and tactics had any influence on him (for better or worse). Hope he comes good again, after scoring 37 seconds into his debut I thought we had a legend in the making :)

  14. Neganon2

I have no more idea than I suspect you have on Celtic’s part in the 5 Way, but I can see that with 41 clubs wanting it, Celtic would be pissing into the wind trying to stop it.

I do know their part in Res12 and it refutes what you preach.

As I said get in touch.

  15. Quite correct Weeron listening to those songs does not equate to being Irish or catholici or indeed an Irish Catholic. But you see the fact that it does in the eyes of the legislators I think says it all. And I think it’s why you are wrong about your point on blessing too.

Of course we have all seen the dafties doing what dafties do. Does that make it criminal? Should they be jailed for that? If being daft was a crime then my god we would need bigger prisons. Furthermore this law is intended to appease the offended. Being offended by so one blessing themselves is a sign of racism in itself. That the SNP would think this a good move belies their own racism. That’s what happens in an institutionally racist organisation or society.

To take it a bit further once the law has introduced the concept of a crime for blessing yourself then it is open to interpretation when that is deemed aggressive or abusive. I have often used the analogy of whether Arthur boric would have been arrested back in the day had the OB act been in place. I believe the answer to be yes. Partly because police Scotland are institutionally racist and partly because they did actually investigate him for breach of the peace.

I think at best you are being naive here. The SNP passed this law to criminalise Celtic fans. They told you that, openly admitted it. That they included blessing yourself and Irish songs as examples of law breaking essentially confirmed that they wanted to criminalise Irish Catholicism and they did.

You see it’s not just a ridiculous law. It’s an abomination.

It’s still on the statute books and brilliantly the SNP commissioned a review which when You read it betrays all the classic signs of institutional racism.

I will concede, one thing though Weeron. The SNP have a tendency to,look down its nose at poorer elements of Scottish society. Whether it’s appointing creepy named guardians over our children, so,e of the ducatiom reform, seeking to punish poor people for drinking, new drink drive laws, stop and search for police etc their disdain for their subjects is obvious. The OB is part of that general disdain. They think they can legislate the hell out of the poor to get them to, ahem, behave.

But at its heart is the rotten racist core of Scotland.

  16. DeniaBhoy on 15th September 2015 4:06 pm Auldheid – I am guessing that in the first few games for us, GMS played his natural game before our training, coaching and tactics had any influence on him –

That’s a really interesting comment. But as you say, it’s a guess – neither you nor I know if . It’s much the same as the PL/DD plot to destroy CFC, the plot to which so many on here subscribe. I’d be inclined to subscribe too were there a shred of evidence to support it.

  17. Coolmore mafia. Two points.

Football players are not the sharpest tool in the box (generally)

And they only think about football. They think all those atmospheres and ex old firm games are fab when in fact it’s just racism.

Auldheid a me too or it’s too hard to argue is hardly an excuse for propping up corruption is it? How do I get in touch?

  18. Parkheadcomesalford

Whilst it is not by a DR member of staff but an ignorant blogger (by which I mean ignorant of the facts smsm are keeping from him) it nevertheless should never have been given a wider audience via the DR.

You will see I picked up on that in my response on SFM.

As I said just what kind of society are they creating by hiding truths?

  19. NegAnon2 on 15th September 2015 4:20 pm

I know that I have, without success done this one to death.

We have never yet been told the content of the Cheekie Chappie’s remarks that proved to be the catalyst for the passing of the notorious Act.

  20. Auldheid they aren’t creating a society, they are propping one up.

A classic example of institutional racism.

Just get Paul to pass on your e mail.

We all see things different because our stand points differ.

A ship seen from the beach looks different from the same ship seen from the cliff top.

It’s still the same ship but the perception of it is different.

Now if we were both standing on the deck next to each other we would have to accept our previous perception may have contained inaccuracies.
