Police Scotland and the SFA in the dock

498

Former Newco Rangers director, Imran Ahmad, made a few headlines yesterday, the most disturbing of which was: “I firmly believe Police Scotland have their own agenda and are deeply emotionally connected to Rangers Football Club. In my view Police Scotland have a clear conflict of interest.”

That’s an extraordinary claim but I’m not sure it’s supported by extraordinary evidence. There is certainly evidence that Police Scotland investigate and arrest supporters of the club at football games, where prosecution levels are comparatively high. There is not extraordinary evidence to support the claim, but perhaps that’s the point.

The police go after fans, but how does it shake down when it comes to corporate matters? Set aside issues of corporate responsibility from the early 70s, and there are no concerns of criminal activity at Ibrox until the spectre of malfeasance of recent years.

By speaking publicly yesterday Ahmad is now engaged in a PR campaign. He’s marked Police Scotland’s card. This may be the rantings of a fantasist, but we should recognise that Ahmad has been an insider at Ibrox, where he would have had the opportunity to deal with senior Police Scotland officers on a regular basis. Superficial friendships would have been struck. Ahmad would need little in the way of private support when a director of Newco to substantiate his claims.

The headline grabber from Ahmad, “What the rest of the world will never understand unless they experience it first hand is that Rangers Football Club is a religion, in itself, built on centuries of religious bigotry” is also a curious think to say.

To be fair to Newco, they can bat away accusations of religious bigotry easily. Employment criteria for them has never been questioned, but Ahmad’s stuck his neck out on an issue which I’m 100% sure he wasn’t asked about. What chance he’s made notes during his time at Ibrox of any inappropriate police behaviour, or matters which allude to religious bigotry?

Mr Ahmad is asking Crown prosecutors for a letter of safe passage. I reckon he stands a decent chance of getting one.  Now.

No matter whether they are innocent or guilty, the SFA have been landed in a very awkward situation by Ajax, who told Uefa the Association made it clear they saw no ground for action against fans chanting “Fenian b…….”

It’s inconceivable that Ajax have an email to that effect.  If they do, it will come out, and Operation Deny and Deflect will swing underway again, but these comments would surely never be committed to record, if at all.

Ajax are also in a hole.  They have made a claim and will be asked who at the SFA made the comment.  You can put your mortgage on the fact Celtic officials will ask this week.

Prejudice at the police and the SFA.  It’s been a difficult week for conspirators.

Our auction for hospitality at Sunday’s Dundee game for three people, eat and drink in the Walfrid and watch the game from the Directors’ Box, ends at 12:38 TODAY.  Check in here for your last chance to bid.  Many thanks to club sponsor Intelligent Car Leasing for donating the prize.

  2. An Tearmann, They got in Ok. The vote was deadlocked so the Chairman had deciding vote and he voted to let them in. I expect a few tasty games will be coming up. If you were born over here you’d have been a star at the old Gaelic Football. Could imagine you at full back , there wouldn’t be too many get past you.

Why are they propping it up if they are not part of it.

On perceptions. Your perception that Im using it to justify the unjustifiable is just another perception of me. It’s wrong. Way wrong.

    What is driving your perceptions?

I said earlier once you leave your default perceptions get in touch.

I meant all of them .

    From Fritz earlier:

” It’s much the same as the PL/DD plot to destroy CFC, the plot to which so many on here subscribe. I’d be inclined to subscribe too were there a shred of evidence to support it.”

I would have given your final sentence an `A` in my teaching days.

Joe Filippis Haircut on 15th September 2015 1:17 pm Aberdeen v Hamilton acs. tonight should be a good game im interested to see if the dons can keep up there winning run. I think the might just manage a narrow win say 2 -1.

    —————

I wouldn’t be sooooo certain about Aberdeen beating Hamilton. I’ve often thought the hardest game in football is backing up a big win with another win when the second game is an “easy” one.

Celtic coach John Kennedy has dismissed that the Parkhead club are in turmoil.

“I’m hearing all this talk of unrest and everything else but it couldn’t be further from the truth,” he said.

“At the end of the day, we’ve had two disappointing results, that’s what it is. All this talk of a crisis is rubbish, absolute rubbish.”

Hah! What does John Kennedy know about what is going on at Celtic? Quite obviously, the butchers and bakers of CQN are much better informed.

Celtic making no comment about SFA, SNP, SPL, Police Scotland with regards to a few things; OFB, 5 way agreement, King’s approval, the negotiation of the Sevcp friendly TV deal are not perceptions.

Everything associated with Celtic PLC stance to the above are PERCEPTIONS.

The removal of Celtic quotes from the internet via search engines is a strong PERCEPTION held by myself.

When GMS and SA joined last season, they were like a shot of adrenaline. They appeared fitter and faster than what we were accustomed to, could pass the ball and move, take a man on, create space and score goals. They were match winners, game changers, who looked like they would only get better. If they were that fit coming from Tannadice, I wondered how much they would improve after 6 months under the RD Sports Science regime.

    ——-_———–_———–

Was it not the opposite if I remember correctly both GMS and SA commented that they were struggling with the pace of training

By the same token he’s hardly likely to come out and say “Kris is really unhappy at not getting picked but frankly it’ll stay that way if he continues crying to his journalist friends”

When PL leaves, at a time of his/bored choosing, he will be replaced by PL2. Agreed? You’ve been posting on here the same drivel for 7 or 8 years and will continue to do so no matter who fronts for CFC.

Seriously, is this all you do with your life?

  12. This extract from a recent book entitled “Gangsters Killers and Me” by ex Det Sup Gerard Gallagher

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Gangsters-Killers-Me-Detectives-Story/dp/1845023625

It gives an insight into Glasgow’s finest:

“ Every morning at 8.30 a.m. there would be a meeting within the muster room of all on-duty personnel, to review the crimes and items of the preceding twenty-four hours. Superintendents, Chief Inspectors, Detective Chief Inspectors, uniform Shift Inspectors, Detective Inspectors etc.; all attended. The Divisional Commander and Deputy were the only real ranking officers who didn’t normally attend. When Detective Sergeants, Shift Sergeants, Community Officers and Detective Constables were factored in it was a fair sized audience.

The Saturday previously Celtic had clinched the 2000/2001 Scottish Football League and, as usual whenever this happened, irrespective of whether the winners were Celtic or Rangers, there followed instances of disorder.

The weekend crimes and offences were usually reviewed by one of the Detective Inspectors, and to assist this he would obtain a printout of the crimes. The printout was a synopsis only, and provided a time, date and location of the crime as well as the MO involved. If an arrest had been made the name, address and date of birth of the person charged were included. That was it.

The Detective Inspector when reviewing these crimes began with the words, ‘I see there were a lot of Catholics locked up at the weekend.’ I was thunderstruck. I’d known him for about fifteen years and had worked with him on enquiries when we held lesser rank, and had played football with and against him. I had never imagined him to be a bigot, but here he was attributing a religion to someone, based solely on his interpretation of their name. He’d been unable to control his fury and bitterness simply because a team he didn’t support had won a league.

I waited and waited in vain for any of the officers, senior or equal in rank, to chastise him over the comment, but they sat in silence and by their silence afforded that comment their tacit approval. To this day, I still don’t know why someone who prides themselves on strength of character didn’t stand up and confront them all at that meeting, but I think that by that time I’d had a bellyful of their lies, false promises and glad-handing their friends.

A couple of officers indicated to me after the meeting was over that they’d been offended by the remark, and I think they were hoping I’d pursue the matter, but I’d fought enough battles in my career by that point, and all I wanted was to remove myself from their poisonous atmosphere.

Bigotry wasn’t practised, nor would it have been tolerated by my parents or the secular and religious teachers who’d been instrumental in my character formation. As a kid, when it came to football,. I went to watch the Partick Thistle team of George Niven, Sandy Brown, John Harvey, Hugh Tinney, David McParland, Ian ‘Cowboy’ Cowan et al.

As a police officer, the only thing that concerned me was that whoever I was working with wasn’t corrupt, would put in a decent shift, would go through the doors with me, and would be properly prepared to give evidence at judicial proceedings. Otherwise, I couldn’t have cared less had they been a gay, amputee, Taoist. It appeared my equanimity wasn’t shared. It was time to leave them breathing their sixteenth-century oxygen.

I applied again for transfer and wasn’t prepared to be dissuaded…………….

Of course ( but wouldn`t it be funny if he did? !!), he`s hardly likely to say that but , were that the truth, I would imagine no comment at all would be the order of the day. Overall, I am inclined towards believing John Kennedy.

  14. Neganon,

Again. It’s the same regurgitated crap day in day out. Instead of boring us day in day out why not contact PL and/or DD concerning your gripes and then come back to us.

Won’t hold my breath on that.

GLASSTWOTHIRDSFULL. Im not certain at all how tonights game will go but withe the Dons being at home and a good crowd behind them I think they may have just enough to edge it. H.H.

  17. Got to say, I don’t agree that the article is a deflection from our own issues, this is and has been a very serious problem with Scottish society for a long long time and we don’t normally get the chance of an outsider shining a spotlight on it.

Celtics problems are going anywhere any time soon and are rarely very far away so in this case I’m very happy that Paul is taking the opportunity to highlight Scotland’s shame and helping it become less and less of a secret, if only for a day this is well worthy of an article and in this case I’m happy to agree with tonydonnelly.

ELDIEGOBHOY. I said similar to yourself to NEGANON earlier and to be fair to him he said had written to PL but not received a reply so there is not much he can do about that. H.H.

GMS was the same at Dundee Utd. one game he could be a match winner then he could go weeks when he was very poor. That is an area that Ronny needs to work with him on. H.H.

How dare you harbour an opinion contrasting the mainstream. How very dare you have the audacity to actually voice the diametrical. How ashamed are you of the courage to speak that which you believe whether that which you believe is right or wrong. Who gave you the right to be different?

  23. Joe Filippis Haircut on

AULDHEID. Well that doesnt help me to feel more confident that they can get something from tonights game at Pittodrie I will stick to my guess 2-1 to the Dons. H.H.
