STRACHAN’S FUTURE DISCUSSED TOMORROW

1

GORDON STRACHAN’S future as Scotland boss will be discussed at a Scottish FA board meeting tomorrow.

The international manager, whose contract expires at the end of next month, will not be present at the meeting in Hampden Park.

Scotland failed to qualify for the World Cup play-offs, finishing third in Group F and Strachan has refused to comment on whether he wants to continue in the role.

After the 2-2 stalemate in Slovenia put the brakes on any hopes of playing in Russia next summer, he said: “I’m really proud to be the manager.”

Strachan took over from Craig Levein in January 2013 and has overseen two failed qualification campaigns, including Euro 2016 as well as this World Cup.

The Scots haven’t qualified for a major tournament since the World Cup in France in 1998.
