Subplot: red card Scott Brown

245

We have two hugely important away games coming up, which will hopefully go a long way to determining the title, but I get the sense there is a subplot beyond that.  Too many stories involving the words: Scott Brown, red card and dangerous tackle, have crept into the lexicon this week, all on the back of a ball-winning, non-dangerous tackle.

If I was a cynic I’d suggest the scene was being set for Scott Brown to be the focus of outrage and demands for his dismissal at every challenge during a cup tie coming your way soon.

Once we have the important games out of the way we’ll talk more about red cards, and the likelihood of Celtic picking one up at Hampden.

After 5-0 and 6-0 defeats to Celtic in their previous two games, Dundee took a clean sheet from Celtic Park last month, and had chances to take more than a point from the game.  They have only won one game since, Saturday’s 5-2 demolition of Ross County, who they are nip-and-tuck with for the final top six place before the split.

Before that draw at Celtic Park, Dundee were on a seven game unbeaten run.  Their form is nowhere near as good now, so I don’t expect them to be as adventurous as they were last month.  They will sit-in and play us on the counterattack.  The aforementioned Scott Brown and however partners him in central-mid have important defensive duties ahead.

After scoring 16 in his 15 appearances since the turn of the year, Leigh Griffiths hasn’t scored in two games – the first time he’s failed to score in consecutive domestic games since last season.  Do not bet against him tonight.

Scotland’s biggest selling indigenous newspaper led with a powerful front page today:

“Confidential documents leaked from a secretive Charlotte Fakes expose how the grasping mega-rich elite hide untold wealth to avoid paying their fair share of tax, a plea to the poor and working class across the globe….

Wake up world and smell the corruption”

Well, almost. I added the “Charlotte Fakes” bit, which originally read “Panama bank”.

Concerns about how the leaked documents came into the possession of over 100 journalists didn’t get in the way of thousands of media outlets reporting the contents.

Ever wondered how the Cameron family could afford the very best education money can buy for their son, David? Now you know. Or have you considered that Leonel Messi and Michel Platini might one day be bunkbed mates?

You are free to ponder these questions without some poor sod having to pester the life out of police, prosecutors, football authorities and the Scottish media (at not insignificant personal risk), because most of the western world reacts differently to news of corruption than we do here in Scotland.

Congratulations to the Celtic Development Squad, who won the league after 25 undefeated games this season.  Take a look at their league table:

Re the huns 4-0 Dundee cup game.

Just before the game started the Match Commander entered the Dundee dressing room and told them if they were winning 2-0 at half time to take their foot off the gas in the second half, as a total gubbing of the huns might result in a riot, wives and weans being assaulted, shops looted, you know the kind of thing.

Criticism questioning forming an opinion or debating on anything regarding resolution 12 should be encouraged at all times in a civil manner as any publicity is good publicity is and keeps the fires burning on the subject.

    no harm in that Anthony,

but let me ask.you now support Res12?

as you were a virulent opponent and from my reading had already doomed it to failure due to the personalities involved.

The fires are burning on this subject irregardless of what multi monikered posters think.Mr Pastry you and all your monikers could be deemed a clique. You should write to Celtic and save boring the blog with your theories,i dont trust you.

i have no problems with Big Nan asking question as he is a supporter of the Res and has been from the start, and anythin asked is his way of wanting to push it forward and is intended to augment the process

It is a powerful piece of work(res 12) and a lot of power will be used to try and undermine it imo.if pursued thro we are looking at a new game,

i hope that will be the case.

Was put straight on that a while ago myself and i now do believe anyone red carded would miss the next game, regardless of which competition.

  7. Nerves shredded, of course.

    3 points tonight, Celtic, please.

I hope Scott Brown is VERY VERY careful. Wouldn’t be at all surprised if he is sent off (although, apart from the last 20 minutes on Saturday, he has been poor since he came back from injury). We need all our players on the park for the 90 minutes.

We are reffed differently from everyone else.

  8. Canamalar it looks like OCD obsession on

    philbhoy,

the same will be happening at the Dumbarton game except Dumbarton will be told to loose the game by at least 2 or there will be ….. blah blah blah

  9. i continue to be uncertain of PLC role in all things Sevco and I am disappointed/angry with its most recent failure to contact UEFA.

Having said that, I have no reservations about the integrity of our RES12 people.

My “scrollby” list is little longer now !

  10. CANAMALAR

    I almost laughed at that…………….but I wouldn’t be surprised.

Thank you for your courteous reply which I received just after my last posting. I see what you were aiming for and apologise for any misrepresentation of your intention.

However, can we not restart from where we are and present as United front. We have enough external enemies. HH

I wouldn’t have urged my relatives to support RES 12 had I known it was going to be taken over by the Celtic FC board and that is how I see it now.

RES 12 was a principled reaction to the lack of principles in our board and it is ironic in the extreme that they now control it, or at least their acolytes do.

You say that Kil Ulster and I are the only doubters re RES 12 and even on this site you are wrong but if we all agree on something as important as RES 12 was then that is not healthy. What would you call CQN if it is no longer a discussion board. A unanimity board. A Auldheid & BRTH appreciation board?

    H.H.

  12. Gerryfaethebrig on

    Philbhoy cheers

On the sending off if it’s 2 yellows it stays in that competition, but straight red is the next game (I think) some might say we shouldn’t be discussing it…..but we should embarrass the cheats into making the correct decisions

  13. Scott Brown cannot be sent off in the game immediately preceding unsigned he cup semi final…

… If he doesn’t play in that game.

Would that be wise or even necessary?

  14. Unsigned? That should just be a “t”. Predictive text has a lot to Andrews for ;)

Re MG it was funny after chatting that Derk gets a free ! that was a big part o the chat how we could waste that amount weekly on someone who played a few games(good opening half hour)

hopefully we will tighten up on that as we can’t afford more Derks,Bangura,Amidos etc

i smiled at the cricket chat here yesterday as it used to be a sound weapon over the fields lol

    hope your good mate :-)

  16. Disappointing if Rogic is ruled out, but I would keep the rest of team unchanged from last game, just Bitton in for Rogic. Thought we played with a bit of dig & desire last day. That has been missing and it was great to get it back, we were far from the finished article but we were a whole lot better then the Killie game.

Hopefully we will see a further improvement tonight, we will need it to secure the 3 points.

    Kill Ultra,

copies of the invoices are yours for the paltry sum of £10K, cant say fairer than that

Ok, Canamalar. That’s at least a starting off point but I’d need much more than copies of a few invoices for my dough. Sets of accounts from November 2013 may be enough though.

First part of our wee celebration week is an Indian meal tonight!

3 points, no injuries and finish the game with 11 men, oh and a clean sheet, that’s always good for confidence.

    C’MON THE CELTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  19. Canamalar it looks like OCD obsession on

So its a literacy thing, go and read the copulating resolution and stop telling people your interpretation, there is no room for interpretation in the resolution that’s why it is and was so effective.

Again, Res12 was/is about getting the board to take the complaint to the CFCB, whats so copulating hard about that ?

So the board were always going to be partners if it was to succeed, jeez obtuse doesn’t come into it, this is just blind stupidity.

  20. Canamalar it looks like OCD obsession on

    Kill Ultra,

provide the cash up front and its all yours, in fact you can have the original copies.

  21. Disappointed Tom Rogic missing out but hopefully he’ll be fit for Saturday and future challenges ahead. I hear the chat about Broony but my main concern is Leigh Griffiths in the next games whether it be a red card or an injury.

  22. AN TEARMANN

YES your right I was a supporter of res.12 but not two of the people involved, and to this day I still have no faith in them, I made a promise to BRT&H to hold off on my let’s say disagreement with these two guys, as it may upset everyone’s hard work on it, and I’v kept my word, I’v asked a couple of questions on it and that’s it, I’m letting it take its course, What Nan is getting now I was getting two years ago from the same guy, so it’s pointless getting involved with him, and I’d rather leave it at that, and keep my word.

  23. Big Nan, I really just want to talk about Football but in fairness to Teach Solais it was me and not him who said that it was you and Kill Ultra were creating all the fuss.

If you had come up with original idea I could well understand your indignation but as far as I remember the entire thing was the brainchild of Canamalar.

If I came out with a great idea and tried hard to turn it into reality and if someone started to have a go at me about my progress I wouldn’t be long in telling him to F**k Off and I am genuinely a very mild mannered pensioner.

Anyhow that is definitely my last comment on this and any other non football issue for the day,

  24. When is Tom Rogic going to sign a new deal?

Honestly, if he doesn’t we will have to sell him in the summer (assuming a suitable bid arrives).

Would be a shame. Reminds me of Liam Miller in a way. You stand by somebody while they have serious injuries and as soon as they show some form they are looking for their next move.

  25. Big Nan

As I said before I find you unreasonable. So no point giving you reasons.

Are you now saying that the hours put in are a myth?

Would you like Mrs Audlheid to put you straight on that one? You’ll not like it, I know I don’t.

  26. An Teach Solais on

I commend the work which the Resolution 12 people are doing on our behalf and I cannot understand the clamour from someone who, as I understand the situation, has not been asked for a monetary contribution, demanding a financial statement. If people wish to spend their own money what is that to anyone else?

Re could things have been progressed better. In all aspects of human life if we knew in advance what obstacles/ misunderstandings were in front of us then we might do things differently.

Apart from legal proceedings -about which we can say little and over which we have zilch control- the only show on town which can expose the wrongdoing is Res.12.

    Let’s bring it to fruition

Now to concentrate on an important game tonight. HH

  27. Gerryfaethebrig on

Corkcelt how are the nerves today ?

You ended up making me nervous on Saturday, which was not helped with the Jambos early opener

  28. Celtic are playing tonight

we as one will be backing our team,

  29. Whether you are satisfied with the progress or outcome of RES12, those who brought it about it should be commended for theirs efforts. I, like many others, simply bump my gums without doing anything about it.

At the game on Saturday, my brother and I both commented it was a stupid tackle by Brown and I was relieved when it wasn’t a red.

Any dropped points tonight will give Aberdeen a huge life, tonight’s game is massive!

  30. Nerves not too bad at the moment Gerry but I’ll probably be in a panic an hour before kick off.

  31. Canamalar it looks like OCD obsession on

who to replace big Tom, i’d like to see a like for like replacement, I don’t think Bitton is like for like, I’d rather see Christy, Armstrong or Allen in that position.

  32. Kill Ultra.

There are no accounts as such.

Within my ken a bill that was issued and paid by two donors who believed in what we were trying to do and trusted us. Try it.

The idea that the much maligned Board were driving this and we played along dociley is a figment of your imagination.

    The truth far outstrips it.
