Rogic easing into contention

86

Delighted Brendan Rodgers gave Tom Rogic such high praise at his pre-match media conference ahead of the longest surviving Glasgow derby. He’s is a player who put enormous effort into personal development and was rewarded with outstanding form before his injury in December.

A word of caution, though. It took Tom several months before his fitness was deemed appropriate to last a full 90 minutes by Brendan Rodgers, so no matter how long we see Tom tonight, this will be no more than a staging post in his recovery. Don’t expect him to be anywhere near his best.

There is little reason to deny Emilio Izaguirre and Cristian Gamboa a run out tonight. Mikael Lustig and Kieran Tierney have both had a busy few weeks, so should be rested with important games ahead later this month.

Brendan doesn’t have many options in advanced positions. Without Moussa Dembele and Leigh Griffiths he will probably deploy the same attacking formation as the one which deconstructed Hearts on Sunday.

If they do their job half as well as they did at Tynecastle, you and I could play in central defence and we’d still win.

  1. Missing my first game of the season tonight as I’m down in Nice where the weather is beautiful. Would much rather be at Paradise though!

We launched our Lisbon Lions project yesterday – after a delay caused by PayPal – and our target is to sell 500 copies of our forthcoming book In The Heat of Lisbon with an authentic Lisbon JOCK STEIN T-shirt both for just £19.67.

All profits will go to providing the Lisbon Lions squad with a lovely thank you gift from the Celtic support.

Tommy Gemmell told me how much he got for winning in Lisbon, it wasn’t much but it didn’t matter in the slightest to Tommy.

Last week Willie Wallace called me. I’ve never heard him so animated. He was on the phone for about an hour. The reason was he felt that Celtic weren’t being looked after properly in an area where he has a concern. He wanted CQN to make it known and to have a word in ears for the benefit of Celtic Football Club.

There was nothing in this for Willie other than Celtic is his team. Like you and me and Tommy Gemmell and Big Yogi and John Fallon who still goes to all the games, he cares.

James Forrest at the Celtc Blog has offered his support in promoting this offer as had David at Celtic News Now.

There are some great Lisbon tshirts out there just now and some good books, including incidentally one by a CQN ( That Season in Paradise).

    None benefit the Lions.

Wear our t-shirt and everyone will know you thanked the Lions. Read In The Heat of Lisbon and know that you have thanked these special Celtic men.

We have sold 81 from 500.

If you can please order yours. If you are going to Lisbon in May wear this shirt and read this book on the plane.

There will be no freebies. Paul67, myself, the three authors on the book ( that is actually two books) will proudly buy our own.

    Order at http://www.cqnbookstore.com

Thanks and enjoy the game. Tynecastle was sensational!!!

  6. CQN Saturday Naps Competition : WEEK 34 Standings (Apr 1st)

A couple of significant movers at the weekend – Bull67 charges up the leaderboard into third place after napping Lincoln winner (Bravery @20/1)… and our reigning champion tipster 16 roads is creeping back into contention to retain the trophy, after back-to-back winners (Duel at Dawn @5/1, Crackerdancer @11/4).

However, Nye Bevans Rebel Soldier still leads the way…..
