Abada’s potential

284

Don’t take this to heart too soon, but Liel Abada has the potential to eclipse anyone else currently in the Celtic squad.  The natural instinct he has demonstrated inside the box since he arrived as a teenager two years ago, is gold dust.

The Great Swede was 26 when he came to Glasgow, having spent most of his days on the wing.  At Leil’s age, he was also waif-like and was far from capable of being the focus of an elite attack.  Wim Jansen knew what was hidden from others and together they rewrote history.

I could not be more delighted our Israeli Star is secured until 2027.

  1. SCULLYBHOY @ 9:44 PM,

You are a great poster here, love your photos and memorabilia – it really is what the blog and Celtic are all about

It is sad that Celtic are now seen as the republican club in most of Ireland

Was in Dublin some twenty years back doing some consultancy for En Post

Our guys were middle class Dubliners, the main En Post contact was a working class Celtic nut from Belfast

The contrast in those Irishmen, were chalk and cheese, so what you describe does not surprise me.

We are so lucky to have supporters like yourself.

    Keep~on~keeping~on

    Hail Hail

  2. Bhoy From The Boyne on

Kwon looked decent close up to me during the Wolves game.

A lot of potential that can hopefully can be developed.

  3. Constantly bitching about situations that u can’t materially affect is a sort of madness ;-))

  4. BHOY FROM THE BOYNE @ 10:06 PM,

Kwon could well have great potential, BR hasn’t had the most organised of preseason

His first time around, he’d assess a player in the friendlies, then give them, and support them with, a personal development plan then they would disappear, sometimes for months

Then they’d reappear in the first team or depart

Players like Lewis Morgan, good players but not quite good enough

It could well be the likes of Kwon, Iwata, Kobayashi etc are going through this process.

    Hail Hail

  5. @TET “K” Get a picture up of that lovely pool …And end the madness of…

    The dreaded windae…….lol

“You can believe all you want about our sports science department, metrics, analytics etc

    My criticism wasn’t of them”

    —————————————–

First of all. It was not a belief; it was evidenced. I met the man who set it up- a Professor of Sports Science- it was 20 years ago and we had a modern approach then- why would it have deteriorated since then? Wouldn’t BR need to have been happy with that department? I cannot state, without access to other clubs Sports Science department, how good or how up-to-date we are now. I can merely tell you that we were early into the field, well set up initially, and that we continue to employ graduates with good background and research.

I was well aware that you had referenced recruitment not Sports Science, which was why I stated the reason for offering that comparison in my initial statement. I suggested to you that it is hard to consider that we would employ modern-ish methods for one wing of our operation and eschew them for all or any others. that’s up there with the suggestion that we never practice corners or set pieces at Lennoxtown

P.S. Kwon did fine against Wolves- he got ok reviews. It was one game- Bilbao- that he had a total stinker.

  7. St Tams

    It was never gonna happen

    A GK, no chance

    LB, again no chance

DFM, I had hopes but obviously Kwon is the replacement at the mo

A striker Oh is back so again no chance

    Anything else >:)

  8. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

    Absolutely no intel whatsoever.

If Schmeichel is a free agent, he can be signed after the transfer window closes.

  9. @K..Not giving me the option to copy…

But i still remember that beautiful crest gleaming in the sun when you introduced It to us ..

God love your Dearest .100 length….???

ffs i only ever managed 28………and i was 19 ..lol

Hope you and your creative love are well …

Excellent job to keep Liel. However, this is brazen news management. Absolutely no other explanation for it being announced on transfer deadline night.”

Or maybe it is just that you cannot think of another explantion.

I do, though, agree about Liel. When I read the news, I was very pleased as I feel he could become something special . I thought I would be very much in a minority with that view but it would seem that many others feel the same way. Pleasing.

  11. Shocking transfer window from Celtic

Team weakened and a plethora of projects which will see 1 or 2 maybe make a return.

DD his time is up. The board is tired old men all local with little achievement in any other field of note. It has zero ambition and no idea how the execs ( similarly challenged) would deliver. Its run like a corner shop. They cant even get the stadium wifi to run.

Sunday doesn’t matter ; this window showed us the board and execs have checked out.

An inexperienced Chairmans son running recruitment sums up the shambles.

This window is the beginning of the end for the parasites on the Board.

Just to let you know that I think some Hun has hijacked your blog name.

    Goodnight all.

  13. Celtic Mac 10.45pm

    Final payday :-)

The Bhoy earlier came out with the Celtic gear and plenty of Bhoys / GB ?? In the crowd

Live boxing on cooncil telly … fae better than Sky transfer show …

I think it’s been a very very good windae, all those millions in the bank might have been used to extend a lot of our current treble winners

    Mon Ricky Bhoy …

Even a journeyman footballer can make a hell of a living at football these days.

Whole lot easier than being a pro boxer.

  15. Celtic Mac 10.56pm

    Aye, totally agree

Thankfully I have only ever watched boxing, a bit like fitba, am far better watching than competing :-)

  16. gftb

Ricky lost on points to Terence Crawford, now ranked as one of the best in the business and Willy was one punch away from stopping Amir Khan’s career in its tracks for the Commonwealth title.

    Great fighters in their time.
