Aberdeen, Sinclair, Hearts

251

Respect to Aberdeen for their performance on Saturday, it belied their poor start to the season and matched anything we have faced domestically so far.  That said, Celtic grew into the game and always looked to have a goal in them.

Delighted for Scott Sinclair, who was overjoyed at getting the goal.  He has been a special player for us and one who can still contribute.

Perspective is everything.  We are enduring one of the worst starts to the season while others, below us in the table, think their moment has arrived.  After Sunday’s results, we should be more concerned at the six point gap with Hearts.

Bearing in mind the contempt that everyone wearing The Hooooops is held in by the rest of Scottish football,I wouldn’t think any of our players would be willing to don an SFA top.

Especially as it has morphed to a hunnish Royal Blue recently.

  2. BMCUWP I hope you are well

I had a lunchtime meet with a couple of CQN bhoys and Ghirls on Saturday and it was fantastic.

A real bunch of Good ghuys and ghirls

You just know the tax cheat will play our bhoys in the friendly and not in the meaningful cup game.

It’s a statistical anomaly but a fact nevertheless,I’ve never met a CQNer who wasn’t an all-round good guy or gal. Really strange,I think it must bring out the best in us somehow when we meet in person.

If you can hook up with us on Nov 10,it will be an absolute pleasure. And further proof of my point!

I would have been up earlier, but I booked the two weeks that I did so that I wouldn’t be tempted to go to a match. I’m a bliddy jinx in the autumn, you wouldn’t believe some of the shockers I’ve witnessed over the years!

  4. BMCUWP I will see what myself and good lady are up to on that date. It’s my birthday on the 5th, so I dont know if we are going out on the 3rd or 10th.

If nothing then I would definitely be up for it.

Thanks for the invite, it would be good to put some more handsome Tim faces to monikers

  5. morning bhoys from a dreich wet Cheshire, on holiday this week was gonna take the dugs to blacpool today for a nice run on the beach, but not in this weather. anyway only a few days and we will see the hoops again. Murdoch auld and hay, you are in our thoughts.ynwa.hh.

  6. While I would want Scotland to win, I would much prefer it would be without any of our players. They play too often already for Celtic over the season.

Why the likes of Forrest and Griffiths get uptight with the Scottish manager’s treatment surprises me. Celtic players have seldom been given any respect as far as I can see, even the one and only Dalglish was prevented from taking the record for number of caps, to protect one of their own. Pathetic.

    Interesting times these.

After all of the hyperbole over the manager and players I listened to the by the min podcast.

At least Paul on this blog keeps his opinions in check and doesn’t resort to joining facts with tenuous fiction to join another fact.

I know the temptation for any media is to put out sensationalism and massaged fact but this podcast along with other recent reports now seems like a feast for bloggers and gossip mongers getting high on attention. Either that or there is a coordinated attempt from within to put out Lawwell facts but that’s me hypothesising and sensationalising!

The main basis for facts being converted to fiction seems to be Rodgers ‘talking’ to a club in China. Then a joining of the unsubstantiated Dembélé statements that he was told by Rodgers that he should go to China. So Brady and co made the leap that Rodgers was asking Dembélé to go with him to China!

There was also a massaging and surmisal that Rodgers wanted to go to China but worked something out with Lawwell and Desmond- I.e he according to Brady and co used the offer from China to negotiate something better for himself.

The sea change in just reporting whatever the hell you like regardless of fact seems to be infecting Celtic cyberspace.

Time will tell if any provision has been made to pay off Rodgers early or if we expect compensation for our manger.

The ByTheMinute podcast was Peter Lawwell spin delivered by Harry Brady. In fairness the other 2 on the podcast, particularly Remy, was having a dig at PL as well so it wasn’t a one sided hatchet job.

BR was approached by a Chinese club and must have spoken to them (or his reps did) if he was given an offer. BR confirmed he was made an offer. The Dembele piece of the story came from L’Equipe in France, allegedly. The summer transfer disaster, Piccini, McGinn, Shar, was discussed and how events unfolded have been ‘known’ for a while now. It all seemed to be an attempt to portray an unhappy manager who wants out. He is unhappy, you can see that from interviews since early in the season, although he seems a bit more upbeat now in pre/post match interviews at St Johnstone and Aberdeen games. The meeting in London between DD, PL & BR last week seems to have brought peace between the two protagonists for now.

IMO, we’ll be looking for a new manager in the summer. If, as suggested by Brady, its Davie Moyes, they better look out the banners to cover the empty seats again.

`The sea change in just reporting whatever the hell you like regardless of fact seems to be infecting Celtic cyberspace.`

I agree. The way it seem to work is to start off saying that `the rumour is` or `my opinion is` then using this as evidence to allow those rumours and opinions to morph facts !

On another topical matter ( well it was a day or two ago!)

“If anyone had another solution, then great, we’d absolutely look at it,” Doncaster says.

So, does anyone have another solution that Doncaster et al have not considered?

    Cheerio for now.

    Gary 67,

I expect Celtic, Hibs and Kilmarnock will be tested on their managerial position soon.

Newcastle, Southampton, West Ham and perhaps Brighton will all be looking for managers if results don’t change.

Neil Lennon will obviously fancy another crack at managing in England and multiplying his current salary. The job Lennon has done at Hibs is outstanding.

There are various alternatives that could be used instead of both semis at Hampden on the same day.

    1. Play the semis the following week, one on Saturday (3rd Nov), one on Sunday (4th Nov), both at Hampden

    2. Play Celtic v Hearts the following week (4th Nov), and postpone the league game due to be played at Celtic Park (on 3rd Nov). Hearts could play their league game at Dundee (27th Oct) and Celtic’s game with Motherwell could be moved to Fir Park from CP (28th Oct) with the Fir Park game in December played at CP

    3. Play both games on the same day but at different venues, Hampden/Murrayfield the obvious choices.

Personally I’d go with option 2. It means the league only have to re-arrange 3 games rather than 4 if both games are played the same weekend.

  12. mullet and co 2 on 2nd October 2018 9:26 am

Lennon returning to CP would be the obvious choice for me if the position became available. Finish the job he started. Although, again from the BTM podcast, it was said that would never happen. No reason given.

I didn`t expect that from Willie Ormond .

I didn’t expect that from Willie Ormond either, mate. And I think the pressure he was put under to do something which was not in his nature was why he jumped at the Hearts job.

Pretty much said as much in the article I linked at 643am

I also suggested that PL’s alleged refusal to act on the list of signing targets presented by BR was a firing offence.

    I stand by that.

  19. Some still at it,I see.Quite a few of the Celtic blogs calling on the fans to rally round together, support the team, against this avalanche of bad press we are recieving, seems the message is going unheeded by some on here.Still harping on about the summer, going on about alleged, failed signings, without knowing about even the slightest detail involved.Signing on fee, wages required.Exactly what the hated SMSM are doing, wee rumours, half truths, constant regurgitating of what is gone, and gone forever,as a great song once said. They then come on here and wonder why.

I would take a good look at myself first, before taking umbrage at the Media.
