Aberdeen, Sinclair, Hearts

251

Respect to Aberdeen for their performance on Saturday, it belied their poor start to the season and matched anything we have faced domestically so far.  That said, Celtic grew into the game and always looked to have a goal in them.

Delighted for Scott Sinclair, who was overjoyed at getting the goal.  He has been a special player for us and one who can still contribute.

Perspective is everything.  We are enduring one of the worst starts to the season while others, below us in the table, think their moment has arrived.  After Sunday’s results, we should be more concerned at the six point gap with Hearts.

I’m afraid I disagree. It’s good to build momentum. It’s difficult to build momentum domestically if it is interspersed with getting horsed in Europe (especially in Europe’s 2nd tier competition).

Also, in regard to this, “The players that don’t feature on Thursday will not have their confidence affected by a heavy defeat.” That would only work in the event that we had a big pool, but we have limited resources available and the players that line up on Thursday will bar a change or two be the ones who line up on Sunday.

Has that piece of thuggery by McKenna been brought to the attention of the Compliance officer yet?

Has Madden been asked to explain how on earth he decided it wasn’t worthy of sanction?

Has anyone at our club got the balls-Edouard doesn’t,they were kicked up beside his Adam’s Apple on Saturday-to get the SFA told that this has to stop?

That’ll be naw then. If this is allowed to go unpunished, then we deserve what we get.

  3. Currently following Hayley McQueen’s Twitter spat with Celtic fans. Her defence that it was not her decision to bring up the Celtic issue but that it was an ‘editorial decision’. So now we have proof that Sky Editorial Policy is anti-Celtic and any excuse to attack Celtic is their policy.

  4. BOBBY MURDOCH’S CURLED-UP WINKLEPICKERS on 1ST OCTOBER 2018 1:53 PM

No. They would rather crack jokes about stealing wee bits of paper with the managers instructions on. And the Media just loved that excuse to avoid what would have been a headline if it had been a Celtic player making such a bad tackle.

  5. Dear Celtic PLC

I do not pay my hard earned cash to see our well paid player assaulted and maimed by all and sundry on a weekly basis.

Please front up to this, not so hidden , agenda and face it straight on with those who allow it to go unpinished.

    Otherwese, what’s the point?

  6. Best non tic game…

In Scotland 1991 Motherwell 4 Dundee Utd 3 in the Scottish cup final. Mclean brothers in the respective dugouts for the ‘ family ‘ final.Brilliant end to end game, great to watch. An 18yr old Phil O’Donnell amongst the scorers for Motherwell.

In England it’s a toss up between two games at Anfield.

    A – Liverpool 4 Newcastle 3 1996…

The game see sawed with Liverpool going ahead first only to be pegged back and Ginola gave Newcastle the lead. Fowler equalised then

Asprilla scored a cracker for the entertainers only for Collymore to get the winner at the death in stoppage time. Brilliant atmosphere at Anfield. Great ending to the game unless you were a Newcastle fan.

    B- Liverpool 3 Man utd 3 1994…

Brilliant goals from Giggs, Clough.Irwin scored a belter of a free kick as they slugged it out like two heavyweight boxers. Liverpool were 3-0 down and on the canvas but fought back and ‘Razor ‘ Ruddock scored the equaliser in the second half. Great game.

Defenders: Jack Hendry (Celtic), Scott McKenna Celtic), Charlie Mulgrew (Blackburn Rovers), Stephen O’Donnell (Kilmarnock), Andy Robertson (Liverpool), Graeme Shinnie (Aberdeen), John Souttar (Heart of Midlothian), Kieran Tierney (Celtic).

do the bbc know something that we don’t re McKenna ? hope not.

  8. DBHOY,

my favourite non celtic game is only my favorite non celtic game because of what it meant to us at the celtic game.

    -))))

ive been to loads of other football games, maybe hundreds actually, these i watch thinking, this is not as good as being at the celtic game.

  9. Saint Stivs

Ha ha , I got that but it got me thinking of games outwith Celtic games I enjoyed watching.

Used to take a keen interest in serie A with the brilliant James Richardson’s weekly round up every Saturday morning.

Used to watch a lot of English football aswell, not so much now. More time goes on it’s mostly just Celtic games I watch now as I’ve gradually lost interest in the other stuff on offer.

Hope you’re on the mend and getting better.

JimtheTim There are a few sweet versions of this on YouTube but I am familiar with the more rousing renditions we sang at school and chapel with much gusto Jake Frank

*we are in a transition in our parish, our regular priest has moved on and a substitute is in his place for now. There was no choir at the Saturday vigil and an oul parishioner led the singing, he was winging it. The “hymn” during the offertory was “faith of our parents”, almost fell out of the pew, have we gone PC mad.

BTW met an ould Tim before Mass, well he’s in his 9th decade so a lot older than me, we both agreed that 8 in a row looks highly unlikely due tae the blatant cheating and he’s seen more than me in his lifetime, as he said “they’re no even hiding it now”.

  12. bomber brown did indeed play for dundee when they beat heartz,

the season before he also scored to beat the huns 1-0 in a scottish cuptie and then a hattrick against the same deid club in a 3-2 win all at dens.

  13. My friends in Celtic,

Delighted for Scott Sinclair. Onwards and upwards.

Great to hear Scotty sing the praises of the fans who sang his name after the goal. ( To be fair Scotty we were singing for you as soon as you were warming up )

Good old ( and new ) upbeat songs in praise of the players and the team provide encouragement that other songs don’t.

And of course the players know their history and relevant songs; how else could they sing them in the dressing room.

    HH to all and COYBIG.

PS: Couldn’t give a toss what the huns sing. Why would I, there is no old firm and the huns are vile.

  14. GREENPINTA,

I would think the biggest problem we face in January,is finding two CHS.I would think Boyata will be gone, and Benkovic COULD be called back to Leicester. One would probably suffice, but needs to be top notch.Would suit Boyata to staybuntil the summer and become a free agent.Benkovic hopefully stays, but we need someone in.Really dont think we can go with 3 top class, for us,strikers.

  15. Cannot see Brendan playing any sort of weakened team on Thursday. For one thing,he has his pride and reputation to think of.This is a good team.We dont need another cringe result .Hibs game will take care of itself.Full house again.

  22. Turkeybhoy. @03.19 PM.

I understand and take onboard what you are saying about our defence.

However, Imo we desperately need goals and a target man ,I don’t think Leigh or Eddie can fulfil that particular roll.

Odsonne Edouard will be an exceptional acquisition, but not as an old fashioned centre forward. Leigh Griffiths will get us goals, but not enough to justify our forward tally. I also think BR has certain reservations about Leigh ( mentioned his nonchalant attitude to getting back onside on Sunday)

There is also the small matter of entertainment that our fans have been brought up with. Goals are the best form of entertainment and will keep bums on seats.

I agree that we will play our strongest team possible for our Euro ties for reputational reasons.

Interesting to hear him speak about the transfer of judas johnstone. White went to Celtic park to get an interview with judas about his return to Celtic and got wind it wasn’t signed and sealed.

Low and behold Rangers find out.Souness and a former STV executive who White admits in the interview he knew very well at the time fly out to meet judas and his advisers to get the deal done . Call me paranoid but it got me thinking…Did White play a part in it?

*I’ve mentioned this before but early on that year I saw a snippet in the english version of the Sunday People about naesurname seen traveling tae France, rumour had it he was going tae talk tae sleekit face, nae chance I thought, its also been mentioned on here that he was tapped well before we went after him and we were used as a red herring tae soften up the mental huns as he was seen as an uber kafflick, naw I don’t mean he drove taxis.
