Act before talk of shaming the club

1133

“I said to the players at half time that we were shaming the club at the moment and they had to go out and show some pride in the shirt”, the words of Neil Lennon to the BBC after the game on Saturday.

Pride in the shirt is a requirement any manager should ask of his team, and it is notable that the subsequent goal-scorers both have strong connections to the club, but it probably had little to do with the second half performance from Anthony Stokes, Charlie Mulgrew and our the impressive James Forrest.  Calls to pride are limited in what they can achieve, genuine talent is far more effective.

At the AGM on Friday and again in his post-match comments on Saturday, Neil alluded to the fragility of his own position.  Had the game finished 3-0 to Kilmarnock I think he would have walked away.  This would have been a great pity.

Neil is learning on the job. He was not gifted the benefits of experience without actually having to work through difficult times as a manager.  Before his thoughts turn to his own position, before our season is too far gone to save, he should recruit an experienced assistant.  Someone who knows the challenges of working with a disparate group of players, who can deal with the challenges of a demanding board and supporter base.

The need for a mentor was evident 18 months ago and is screamingly so now.  For the sake of Celtic, do the necessary.

One of my best OF memories includes Greig- after the 6-2 game we were on the bus heading back to Greenock when it stopped in traffic outside that hun pub near West St. Another single decker pulled alongside and we were delighted to see that it was their team bus, scurrying back to Mordor. Our bus nearly tipped over as we laughed our heads off at them- they moved on a bit- only for us to catch up with them again, and sit next to them for another 2-3 minutes. Greigs face was a picture, and most of the the rest were raging. neil McCann was the only one of them smiling- because he knew some of the people on my bus. perfect day

Barcabhoy. On two occasions in the past year I have heard two different stories from him of how he used his position as a rangers player to influence refs. One to get extra time added at the end of a game and the other to stop himself being sent off.

Add to this his directorship at a time when we were cheated, then you’ll forgive me for not expressing the same sentiments as yourself.

  6. Great result for the U-19s. I really think this is the best crop of young players we have had for a long time. But playing against ManCity is dangerous, they’ll be flashing cheque books at the likes of Watt and George.

I have always had a theory that both sets of supporters tend to have an unhealthy dislike of the oppositions better players.

You can buy tickets directly from the club website. http://www.fcbarcelona.cat It is possible to pick your seat and have the ticket sent to you as a pdf, which you can print out before you go. It will also contain instructions on how to get to the game , and how to get to your seat in English

No i am not suggesting it was his fault, in fact i would suggest a this was a token gesture to appease the fans by Murray while he got on with raping the club.

I mentioned this because your comparisons with Celtic legends was wide of the mark.None of them have ever served as a Director of the club..

Grieg resigned on an apparent point of principle. The hypocrisy of this is enormous given the length of time he served on a board which allowed the chairman to take the club to the brink of extinction. Presumably his same principles were intact during that time but he didn’t feel the need to step down.

Also he did resign, he wasn’t sacked.

Barcabhoy…greig was part of and complicit in a hun mentality that perceived an anti catholic bias as the norm..especially an anti catholic signing policy for over 100 years..how you can condone and support anyone associated with thAt era is beyond belief..good riddance to bad rubbish

And tell that to all the our forefathers that were asked what school they went to ..rather than how they could do the job!!

I very much doubt the programe on thursday will reveal anything we don’t already know, it might just fix in the mind of the hun support that they are in serious trouble though.

I also don’t think the prog has any bearing on the two hun directors going today, something else is going down, why wait until today?
