  1. Oh and another thing.

Once more I think we need the services of a sports psychologist.

    HH.

  2. With a little more investment at the start of the season into areas of weakness identified by many on this site, we would have been playing MOL Vidi for the £40M pot of gold, improving our coefficient, and possibly easing our qualification process next season.

Instead we, predictably and inexplicably, slam on the brakes, rest on our laurels, and weaken the team. I do not know if this is hubris, complacency, or miserliness. It is certainly deliberate, as it has happened repeatedly under Peter Lawwell. It is all relative, but Juve, after winning 7 in a row, buy Douglas Costa, Emre Can, and a certain Cristiano Ronaldo. They also offload a full back, Lichsteiner, who is not up to par. Lesson to be learned here? No, we just rehired a 32 year old.

If our rivals Sevco were standing still, the argument for keeping pace would be weak. As it is, they are not, and we will probably face 9 or 10 new players who will be far more up for the challenge than last season’s sad lot. Why are we encouraging, rather than demoralizing them? I have great sympathy with the views of TET, because we are quite obviously giving Sevco oxygen, and enabling them to narrow last season’s vast gap.

We fail to plan, thus plan to fail. Tonight was a spectacular, predictable, and entirely unnecessary failure, and I can quite understand if our manager is totally demoralized. The next two weeks will be very telling.

True, the Griff miss was one that I thought could have changed the game completely

  4. How long until PL’s soft soap interview with favourite lapdog Chris McLaughlin where he will tells us we are all disappointed but everything is rosy and it’s really hard to sign players etc etc etc

  5. RON67

Was talking to my brother earlier and i said KT does not look comfortable this season.

Why did KT wait till we were 2-0 down before making any positive runs?

    Is he following coaches instructions?

I wondered a few time on here last season why the dynamism and potency has gone out of KT’s game as he seemed to fall into a habit of standing still and passing backwards.

Do not think it’s a coincidence that our potency and goals were down with our best weapon seeming to be restrained.

  6. DD didnt like the huns laughing at him at Hampdump when we lost on penalties. Thats why he brought in BR.

We cant leave it till Sept 2. The window of opportunity will be closed. He needs to act, NOW.

  7. Regarding TET, when a guy like him, who has built a swimming pool with a giant Celtic crest on the floor, in Spain, decides to chuck this blog then we should all be concerned.

“We are where we are today cos of the biscuit tin mentality, for sure it has brought us a couple of trebles, with total respect to Brendan, a Half wit manager could have delivered that,”

Cept they couldn’t and didn’t, all it takes is one bad game, injury, flukey goal, loss of form, dodgy decision etc etc… and bang goes your treble.

Be more honest if you rephrased it “with total disrespect to Brendan.”

  9. Griff has lost his Mojo and it can be put down to lack of game time. It will come back but he needs to be playing regularly. I reckon we’ll rest Moussa on Saturday and Sinky & Griff will play, especially if Moussa still isn’t 100% fit.

As regards the EL we are being a tad presumptuous that we will qualify for that tournament, but if we do we’ll suffer the same fate as the CL if we don’t strengthen the defence.

Broonie needs to be rested so possibly EK and Olli together this Saturday, but please Brendan no wholesale changes as it invariably ends up in disaster.

  10. VALE BHOY on 14TH AUGUST 2018 11:22 PM

We’re all feeling it. Personally, i watched it with 2 other good Tims in a pub in England with my hoops on. There was friendly banter, but they were still laughing at us. Maybe thats why I’m so sore.

  11. FAN-A-TIC on 14TH AUGUST 2018 11:16 PM

i agree re KT he has not looked the same player ,his marauding runs and link up play with SS has been sadly missed.

  12. BIG-CUP-WINNERS on

KT wasnt doing that impression last Wednesday.

TET I suspect youre pished mate. No matter as long as its just the blog and not the Celtic.

    Neganon2

    Glee as per usual.

  13. If we qualify for the EL, and that’s an if, will they put on the £4m lights and sound system when the upper tier is empty?

    Just asking.

  14. Huge opportunity missed in the first leg, AEK down to 10 men for 30 minutes and we couldn’t muster an effort on goal.

As mentioned here tonight our defence is weak but our attack is not up to scratch either.

With absolutely no disrespect to TET. Can you imagine if Peter Lawwell had built similar?

I’ll get that tomorrow and will have some witty, repartee ready for them.

However, I’m still totally pissed off because we all know that tonight was avoidable and BR and us were let down badly.

“Was talking to my brother earlier and i said KT does not look comfortable this season.”

To me he looks knackered. For a guy of 21 to have played the amount of games he has, near enough consecutively, must take its toll. We have been negligent in not having a back up in place to ease the burden and protect a valuable asset.

I think a lot of our players looked jaded. We played 61 games last year (excluding friendlies). We played 59 the season before. To play such a high number of games to the intensity required by Brendan and in a physically demanding league will, again, take its toll. It’s the reason we require such a large squad. Armstrong who many will recall as being injured for large parts of last season still had 39 appearances.

    WEEBOBBYCOLLINS on 14TH AUGUST 2018 10:29 PM

BGFC…what did the wee man make of that tonight?

    ———————————

Here he is to tell you….

Hello, this is WEE BGFC. Poor first half, better second half. Sinclair did well and we could have had another one easily. I thought they looked tired. We need defenders, the defence was all over the place tonight. No real point in reminiscing on the previous, infamous transfer window. We just need to get rid of Peter Lawell – who is to be held fully accountable for the knocking out (he made a complete feck up of the situation, as you well know) – and get on with doing the best we can in the Uefa Cup.

    Keep The Faith.

    You’re soooo gullible.

His heated driveway is in the shape of a four leaf clover, visible from space only when the new, sparkling Celtic Park lights are on.

    I thought everyone knew that.

  20. THE HANDS CANT HIT

Fair point but whatever the reason the dynamic young full back of Brendans first season is missed.

  21. Vale bhoy. The blog is a joke. Paul67 has turned it into a joke. His fawning over lawwell is legendary amongst the Celtic online community.

If you just behave the same why would things be different.

And guys like BCW would rather blame me than re-examine his own approach.

  22. NEGANON2

I can see where you’re coming from but you still contribute to the blog…which is good.

I agree that there is a reluctance to criticise Lawwell and the board (P67 did have a go at Brendan though) by our host.

But, what annoys me is that we are own worst enemy. If we implode who gains?

    Simple. The hun.

So, yes keep on calling as you see it but as supporters we should remember the main event…10 in a row.

With that in mind we should let Lawwell know what we think and put pressure on him to back our manager.

If he can’t do that he should feck right off.

    HH.

  23. the glorious balance sheet on

    Checked out Bert Kassie’s site.

Assuming we qualify for the Europa League we will be in pot 2 avoiding the likes of Milan and Sporting Lisbon who are in the same pot.

We could be drawn against a number of teams we’ve played in recent years such as Anderlecht and Ajax (pot 1), Legia Warsaw, Qarabag, Fenerbahce, Malmo, Dinamo Zagreb and Maribor (pot 3) and Rosenborg, Rennes and HJK Helsinki (pot 4).

(Ajax and Zagreb are still in CL but will parachute down if they lose their playoff).

  24. It was noteworthy that our bench was so threadbare, we did not have a third sub who could be considered a game changer when we were chasing the game in the last 12 minutes. Baffles me why our squad contains players like Christie and Allen who will never be good enough at this level, even for the bench.

WeeBGFC…yes, they were tired and hanging on at the end but we were disappointing…nervous, even fearful at times. You could see it in their faces. I wanted them to get angry and lose that fear…but it was not to be. So much expectation for this season. Just hope we get a new face or two in and kick on from there…all the best to you and your dad…I’m off to bed, we auld yins need our sleep….cheers for now…

  26. Vale bhoy I contribute to this blog because I refuse to let paul67 off Scott free with his claptrap and because various people want to reinvent history.

It’s incredibly frustrating because I have said the same things go 13 odd years. So no BCW and others there is no glee. There is anger though.

Unless we change the ethos at Celtic the Huns WILL overtake us. The sfa will see to it. When that happens we have collectively let down all those who do,e after us.

What disgusts me is Paul 67 is actively lying to everyone o the blog. Distracting us and contributing to the cheating while posting endlessly about the Hun.

One more thing. Feck the stupid race with the Huns. Feck just comparing us to them. We should be better.

  27. INIQUITOUSIV on 14TH AUGUST 2018 11:48 PM

We did. Mikey Johnston. I personally, think this game was crying out for him. What did we have to lose, nothing.

  28. NEGANON2

OK, I get all that but we still want Celtic to win on the park.

It’s my bedtime but I hope to engage with again.

love your posts. i agree most of the time with you but this is what being a tim is all about.

the boards never ever change remeber davie hay being told to finance the purchase of steve clarke if he wanted him so bad.

this will never stop untill we get rid of the board and dd.

having said that i am not sure about br or the rest of the staff.this is only my opinion.

  30. INIQUITOUSIV

That may be true but as neither Christie or Allen have been given a chance it’s impossible to say.

Kouassi is being called not good enough after Saturdays game at the cauldron of hate.

Considering he only gets a game every 3 months is it surprising he was unprepared?

    That lies with the coach.

There have been ample opportunities to give people game time in our hectic schedule.

If the above guys had been given a run of games it would be fairer to judge them.

When old farts like me are disillusioned, it is one thing (comes with the age and the job), but when someone like wee George is pissed at PL, you know it must be bad.
