    Its OK to criticise but keep the lid on some of the comments bhoys

     

     

    If sammi, Kris and anyone else really were badly unfit it was a big mistake to play them if fact silly.

     

     

    This constant ‘out’ to sammi is quite depressing. Law of diminishing returns…it does little for Celtic and for sammi (though he’s sometimes inspired enough to surprise)

     

     

    A plan b would be nice.

    Agree. If Ajax are as bad as some are saying then I’ll take that rubbish every week. Going forward they are very good and exiting to watch. Young, fast, technically gifted players playing in a system that allows them to express themselves.

     

    Our defensive set up and their attacking set up, what a team that would be, easily runners up to Barca in this group

     

     

    Good post.The team from last year would have played 100%better than the team tonight.

     

    £6 million spent on no better than what we had.People saying Ajax looked fitter.Thats because a good few of our team were not match fit.Still played in front of the summer signings.Should tell us all about them.

    Following on from OmaCelt’s comment (22:32)…

     

     

    Barca still haven’t guaranteed top spot in the group, which they will want to do. A point in their next game will secure that for them, so I would expect that they will put out a strong team to ensure that they get at least that point in Amsterdam.

     

     

    Celtic have to believe that they can beat Milan at home, as they did the last time they met at Celtic Park. Allied to a draw between Ajax and Barca, this would leave Celtic in second place going into the final round of matches, a point ahead of both Ajax and Milan.

     

     

    At this point Barca, who will by then have nothing more than professional pride to play for, and with a bit of an affinity with Celtic, might not be pushing quite so hard to win the game and possibly risk injuries. So if Celtic could sneak a draw, this would mean that were the Milan v Ajax game to also end all square, then Celtic would finish second.

     

     

    But regardless of the result in Milan, Celtic would then guarantee at worst third place in the group with a point in the Nou Camp, as Milan and Ajax couldn’t then both overtake Celtic.

     

     

    A more complicated final outcome would ensue were Celtic to beat Milan and lose to Barca, thereby finishing with 6 points, with Ajax drawing their final two games, thus leaving both Ajax and Milan also with 6 points.

     

     

    Were this to happen, we would then see the 2nd, 3rd and 4th positions in the group determined by the record from the games between the three teams finishing equal, so ignoring these teams’ results against Barca.

     

     

    Celtic would then benefit from one of the little quirks of the qualification rules… as having been the only team of the three not to have taken any points against Barca, it follows that they must have taken the most points of the games between the other three teams!

     

     

    That’ll be good enough for me!

     

     

    So, in summary…

     

     

    Celtic 1 Milan 0

     

    Ajax 1 Barcelona 1

     

     

    Barcelona 9 Celtic 0

     

    Milan 0 Ajax 0

     

     

    …puts us through to the last 16 of the Champions League.

    I will never slag the players.Some played badly tonight,they were the heroes before.The real villains are the people handling the purse strings.Buy 4 or 5 hoping that the more you bring in on the cheap the more chance you will find a diamond to sell later.VVD and Finnbogason would have been enough instead of this stupid scatter gun approach.

    Milan will come looking for the draw.Very difficult to beat if they remain cautious.Great defenders.Still would back us against most teams at home.Barca will gub Ajax.They are novices.Good kids but inexperienced.Magnificent goal tonight from them.

    I never saw any of the game tonight. Major problems at work. Pissed off I missed it even if we lost. I honestly think that buying players so late in the day is our achilles heel. This squad will get better. Too much expectation too soon. I blame our stridently prudent selves. Lord of talk about preparation but truth be told it was spin. I have no problems with out summer goings in our out. Its our gambling off the pitch ….and good gambling it is too against our pack of risk taking. It is bereft of any risk taking our fiscal prudence and if you dont take risks then it permeates.

     

     

    Still have high hopes but not good enough up front. I think we can beat Milan but it will be heroic fraser and spawny goal. I will take for sure but cant we get players bedded in before CL qaulifiers. Is it really not on ? Huh ?
