OK not a night to remember but some great individual performances. We did well after they scored but this is the Champions League and away from home its never easy. I reckon the know alls, the mine shafters and the lurking Huns will have their moment now but I remain positive and proud of my team. Bring on Milan.

The only plus that I could see is that VVD is a class footballer. We will not keep him I fear.

The worst collection of strikers I’ve seen in a long long time.
The only striker who looks like scoring is Balde in the odd 5 minutes that he gets. When was the last goal from a striker who averages more than 5 minutes per game ?
Our manager needs to start trusting more than the usual suspects.
So p’d off with the way we played up until they scored.

It’s no a striker we need, granted we could do with one mind you.
It’s a quality midfielder, someone who can put his foot on the ball a make a killer pass.
Oh, and Lustig was my MoM.

Frustrating that we didn’t start playing until going a goal down. Why didn’t Forrest work for the first 75 mins the wau he did the last 15? Why did Lenny persist for so long with Kris and leave Sammi on for the whole game when he was having no input whatsoever?
Positives? The whole defense and I thought Stokes did OK.
Fail marks to our manager this time round. This group can go any way from this point forward. Next game a must win again.

Another oppotunity to do something lost. Defenders played well but from midfield onwards we had nothing, no creativity and no finisher. Never won second balls and our passing was atrocious at times. Investment and quality is what we need.
So I guess we are back to being the worst team in the world tonight?
A few not fully fit and it showed. We were not able to create enough and in a game of few chances they shaded it.

Forget a creative midfield – if we had a striker capable of playing up front on his own we could have snuck it tonight.

Lost the midfield battle – lost the game. That could have been bloody embarrassing weren’t it for FF and VVD. Why Anto was taken off for Derk only NL knows. Derk touched the ball once I think. The other subs were brought on far far too late to change the game.

Best bit of football on the night brought the right result.
Pass marks to defence (especially Fraser and Virgil) and Kayal for effort but no performers in the up front positions.
We are coming up short this year.

Disappointing. I thought KC, our brains in midfield, was not match fit.

Very little cover for back four – yet very little from forwards and midfield players
Samaras Commons Stokes and Forest were very poor
Mulgrew struggled to stay on his feet at times
FF was suspect with his starting position and was lucky to get away with some of his judgement calls on balls coming in to his box
Ajax are not very good yet we conspired to lose to them

Hugely disappointing.
Feel we are still making the same mistakes away from home. Our attitude is so timid it’s ridiculous. Teams must love playing against us – they know we will sit back and do nothing for at least 40 minutes.
Ajax were under pressure tonight so said Neil. Well, why didn’t we give them anything to think about, why did we sit back?
Nonetheless, some positives. Izzy, Van Dyke, and Lustig were great. Definite CL class. I also thought Ambrose was superb.
Elsewhere though, we are seriously lacking at this level. Sammi has been a star so many times for us, but tonight he was simply dreadful. So too was Forrest. Commons was not fit.
Mulgrew bottled a tackle in the lead up to their goal and was poor all night. Derk and Pukki – thrown on with no real thought for what they were supposed to do it looks to me…
This group was maybe always going to be too much but I feel tonight was a real opportunity wasted. We desperately need a creative player in the middle, and a proper striker a la Hooper.
Finally, Davie Provan… I have watched many EPL games were teams have been really poor, and I have heard him raving and praising them for 90 minutes. Tonight he was contemptuous about Celtic. He is the worst kind of pundit, a monotonous, vindictive nonentity who cannot stand watching Celtic succeed.

Seeing FF had to blast the ball upfield, it would have been better having Balde up the middle rather than Stokes. Not maybe the match for Anto – he might have made a good sub to bring on.
Ii would have hooked Sammi – that was his Sammi-est performance for a long time and it was obvious early on.
Jamesie did well plus Kayal. No problem with the back 4 either.

Much as I thought.
Its OK to play for a draw but there has to be a threat as well. Away in Europe we rarely have any structured threat.
Although criticisms of GS, JF, KC & AS are justified too many times in possession they were on their own with no support from forward colleagues or our apparently invisible midfield.
Can understand fear of getting a doing but if you’ve lost 24 out of 26 away CL group games, why keep doing it?
To think that Spurs were in for Forrest and Man U linked with Kayal…. Holy shit
