Poor Neil Lennon, the custodians sell the spine of the team, give him a fraction of the cash to spend and we expect miracles, qualifying was exceptional. The poor guy has no chance, some of the comments tonight would be enough to drive the guy away.

    God bless the Celts

  2. Gordon_J backing Neil Lennon

So I guess we are back to being the worst team in the world tonight?

A few not fully fit and it showed. We were not able to create enough and in a game of few chances they shaded it.

    ————-

You really think Ajax created “few chances” and shaded it?

  3. To get even 3 points out those 2 games was down to the Parkhead factor. We look a very poor team and Europa is our level.

Samaras refused to pass the ball and for the life of me cannot see what Stokes did wrong to get subbed before him. For me Stokes is a far better player. Samaras can be worse than a man down and tonight he didn’t even track back at times. Shocking performance and again why not subbed ?

Before the Ajax goal Mulgrew poofed out a 50/50 which lead to them running at our box.

Too many average players but thought the back 4 were good as usual and kept us in game. Can’t see where goals are coming from and wish we bought one decent striker in summer instead of 2 projects.

Safe journey home for Bhoys & Ghirls in Amsterdam.

Thank God for Fraser,,Virgil, Mikael, Efe and Izzy. Too many players looked overwhelmed by occasion. Charlie and Sammy were very poor. they doubled up on James to make sure he was forced inside. Kris and Samy were passengers. Midfield and forwards offered us very little tonight. I was very disappointed to see Charlie and James Forrest going very weak into or avoiding challenges where they might have affected the result if they had shown a bit more commitment.

Oh and incidentally,,congratulations to Ajax on a very good performance.

Hey ho! I’ll still be a Tim in the morning and I thank God for that.

It’s still all to play for.

    Hail! Hail!

Who’d you have in mind? (other than the dutch sub)

  7. I genuinely thought Ajax were better than us at Celtic Park so no real surprise for me. We’ve went backwards by selling 3 key players and only van Dijk coming in that I rate. Think this is actually an easier group than last year too, don’t rate either Milan or Ajax and even Barca are slowly regressing too. The style of play bothers me, no creativity and set piece reliant. I like Mulgrew but can’t see us moving forward with him playing centre mid in champions league. They’ll be the odd game where he will do a good job in there but if he can’t get a game at centre half or left back then he shouldn’t play. Seems certain players play regardless of form. Think we could scramble a win at home against Milan but can’t see us getting anything at Nou Camp even with their second string.

  8. It’s a tough, tough group and unfortunately we are a wee bit behind Ajax, Milan and Barca at the moment.

Nothing to be ashamed of in that company.

If we are lucky enough to nick third place and get into the UEFA cup, we will have done well.

No reason why we can’t… there are stll games to be played and points to be won.

This is where we want to be – remember !

  9. Thought that cirlik for them was dirty both games, we were poor , schoer (him that scored) he was good.

Commons was knackered he should have been off.

Sammy was poor, stokes was greedy .sorry to say but Forrest is overrated .

    I’ve vented my spleen.

Time to move on. Fisher for them was good.

  10. Philbhoy - Bring it on!!!! on

The Champions League is a level above us this season.

At least one level above us…….maybe more.

Piss poor CFC team at present

  12. We need a manager who understands forward play.

So much money wasted on dross strikers, awful substitutions , playing unfit players and favourites.

Charlie crapped out of a tackle and the next time we got the ball was picking it out of the net.

    Totally depressed.

  13. Big Swee walks on with Neil Lennon on

Missed first half which sounds like n bad thing.

Lustig is class as is Virgil. Efe and Izzy seemed to do ok though ref did us a favour with some tackles when Izzy on yellow.

Sammie clearly not fit and had one of those nights but if not for him in earlier rounds….

Still the best team in the world for me. Win lose or draw.

Onwards together and hopefully our lads enjoy their evening in safety.

    Hail Hail.

  14. No point in slagging individual players tonight.

Apart from the back four no one else stepped up.

At least we were beaten by a well worked goal and not a silly defensive error.

Although minute analysis may find a scapegoat.

I just hope the spark of creativity returns before Milan’s visit.

  15. REALITY CHECK

WTF are we dong trying to compete at this level

    whilst selling our best players

    wanyama should have been retained

    finnabogson should have been bought

    WE CAN AFFORD THIS

    lenny is a good coach

but he needs to be backed

100% pukki is another non scoring striker

  16. Agree with PF Ayr (amongst others), Van Dyke, Lustig & Forster were excellent.

Thought Kayal and Ambrose played well too.

  17. Disappointing tonight but still a chance if the Bhoys win the next game. However too many players getting back from injury included tonight.

  18. sixtaeseven

It’s a tough, tough group and unfortunately we are a wee bit behind Ajax, Milan and Barca at the moment.

    ———-

I’m sure someone will prove me wrong but I’d say this is probably our easiest ever CL group?? If it’s not then it must be close.

  19. Champion’s League though and Milan and Barca to follow.

I’m sad, it was a shame tonight was… But some folk on here are beyond help.

I’ll save my displeasure for my mates and the pub.

It’s a shoulda, coulda, woulda night – and at 47 I’ve gotta say I’ve seen many of those.

Sorry guys I feel sick after watching that.

Samaras doesn´t deserve to pull a Celtic shirt

    over his shoulders.

    commons terrible.

    Where is the PASSION ?

    Where´s the skill. ?

Don´t ye know you´ve got a whole world of supporters oot there ?

    Come on CELTIC.

  21. Let’s hear from Lenny! Why take stokes off? Why play half fit kc? Why not hook several who were clearly not up for it? The summer buys are not good enough to start why?

Other than that still love celtic but nights like tonight hard to take

Ajax sold their best players right before the transfer window closed, yet played levels above us in football and for some reason fitness.

  24. Excellent performance from Celtic to lose by a single goal, and the result with

the players NFL had available, was no surprise, especially if you watched the

way we played against Dundee Utd, a few days ago.

Dining at the top table with our flawed genius’s is never comfortable, but tonight

Celtic competed all the way with Ajax, who were releived to take the points.

No finger pointing here, at the players who were selected because NFL knows

them better than any CQN experts.

    Transfer windows are closed.

Safe home all of the magnificent Celtic away supporters

  25. the long wait is over on

I hope in the morning the disappointment will have subsided enough for us to see we are still in with some chance of Europe and that very recently we would have regarded 1-0 loss away from home as better than average for us.

To have any chance away in Europe we need our best players on the pitch and playing to their best.

We can’t afford to have Scott Brown , Ledley , Forrest, Samaras and Commons either not playing or playing so poorly and with no Centre Forward who can play at this level.

  26. Evening all

Well I thought we’d lose but still a sore one. Defended very well and aside from their, brilliant, goal they didn’t look any better than in Glasgow.

Three decent chances in first 15 minutes of second half but with only one did we make the keeper save. Be difficult to get third now.

No scapegoats for me but I do wish that at this level we were better than we are.

    MOTM – Virgil. Great player

We unearth our best central defensive pairing in 10 years but middle and front we’ve gone backwards.

If NL has final say on which players we buy, he can carry the can for not replacing Hooper.
