And they came in huge numbers to buy season tickets

546

Ticket officeThis morning’s images of a chain of people snaking around the Celtic Park ticket office and out towards London Road is remarkable. Even more so when you consider more people were buying season tickets online than queueing from the small hours to make sure they can support Celtic next season.

Frankly, I didn’t think we’d see sights like this until we saw a change in playing environment.

Season ticket sales, together with recent commercial deals concluded with Dafabet and Magners, puts the club on an enormously better financial footing, but the benefits extend beyond what we see today. Peripheral income, such as match day spent at the superstore and at kiosks, will have a corresponding lift.

Now if we get Champions League income on top of this………….

You think Brendan Rodgers would be Celtic manager if the huns had missed out on promotion?

I was asking about the same club narrative.

Nothing to do with Res 12.

You’re obviously not too bothered about it.

    Fair enough.

    But others see it differently.

Have you got a car or access to a car? As that makes a big difference.

The lake is fabulous — Alpine, dramatic and windy in the North and much more gentle in the South.

Personally I have always like the Southern end of the lake down near Desenzano, Sirmione and Peschiera – however the wee guy will want to go to Gardaland the theme park etc which is over near Bardolino and Garda.

There is wind surfing and the like half way up the lake and on the western side the towns of Maderno and Gargnano are worth a visit and at the very top you get the fabulous Riva Del Garda.

There is a ferry across the lake runnning to and from Maderno and that is quite a good wee trip on the water though there is not a great deal to see on the other side.

Lots of dinghy sailing if you are into that — great experience to be honest.

Hotels are pricey so look out for Agriturismo offers in areas just off the lake.

To be honest you can’t really go wrong.

Not too much is that answer, Not using the ‘Old Firm’ tag is a slight indication. It’s highly marketable and life would be a whole lot easier for the marketing team if they could use it.

Of course that only works if you continue to believe the same club myth, so I guess they don’t.

  7. If, Brendan was a top notch manager

an EPL side would have taken him.

A top notch manager has also – crucially – to be renowned as being a, dirty, devious, cynical basturt when need be.

I’ve yet to hear of Brendan being described as above.

Folk will say that he was unlucky not to win the EPL because S. Gerrard slipped ?

Well, should SG have been in the team in the 1st place ?

When Sevco were granted their provisional, temporary, never issued before licence, it was obvious that sooner or later they would seep into the top league.

Their fan base virtually guaranteed it.

We all had our views on this, but one thing is for sure, we had no way of stopping them.

That leaves us with the personal decision on how we would react to their presence.

Some say, “not for me” and refuse to watch them play us.

Others say, “we have to play them and I will be there to support my team”.

I think that both views are valid and, whether we like it or not, they add a frisson to the league campaign.

I don’t have an opinion as to whether that frisson is reflected in he surge of ST sales.

    Maybies aye, maybies naw.

What is not open to conjecture is that we all have to get behind the club and support Celtic as best as we can.

I, as usual, will be roaring us on from my armchair in Donegal!!

Hail Hail Bobby, hope yer well.

Yes, I’ve reconnected with my faith and it is grand.

    The Celtic stuff ?

    Well, it’s like this…..

When MO’N walked out the door – 11 years ago – all that I’ve seen from Celtic Park is a rudderless, soulless, confusion of Celtic collectable’s that just don’t marry together.

    Brendan is a Desmond gamble….imho.

A gamble in the hope that, if Brendan clicks and, all the little bits n pieces of Celtic gel together like, the MO’N effect then, the gamble will work and, probably at the same time, the hierarchy will be able to slip away from the Res12tance-Rebels gaze.

If, the gamble becomes un-stuck…the rudderless, house of cards that is Celtic FC / PLC will be laid bare for all of the, innocent, well-meaning Celtic fans to see with they’re own eyes.

Canny put my finger on it but, something dizny add-up.

How many Res12tance t-shirts have the well-healed executives at Celtic Park bought ?

Ye see, there was a real threat of a fan revolt after the SCSF, I think that ‘this’ was the trigger to bring in Brendan.

What folk don’t get here is….

Brendan, like the Celtic Hierarchy will be paid by the money that the fans put into the club.

So, why does DD get the credit for bringing in Brendan ?

How much has DD splashed to bring in BR ?

    Efff all is my deduction.

So, the fans put all the money in then,…..they’re put to the back of the bus, hoping that the Hierarchy will flex they’re muscles and ‘nail’ the cheating like Turnbull Hutton(RIP) would have.

    Not good enough.

Fans shouldn’t be buying t-shirts to fight for justice against the cheats.

I’ve said for years that Celtic PLC-Hierarchy have been parachuting pots of money at, crucial junctions for Sevco on the journey so that they wouldn’t go bust.

I canny prove it but, I can smell it.

The stadium was half-empty whilst the huns were away for 4 years.

    Now, they’re back and – Celtic Park’s almost a sell-out ?

Do think that that the Hierarchy didn’t know this would be the case as well ?

On conclusion – I think that the Celtic support have been royally shafted by the Hierarchy who, on one hand will take the fans money then, with the other hand, they’ll turn the key in the door to lock the fans oot!

    Took for clowns ?

Morning Bhoys another lovely Sunny Morning in Central Scotland. I am interested to see how Brendan does he is not guaranteed to succeed but he has managed a big club before so should know the score I just want him to be judged in the same way as Ronny and that is how we do in Europe. The support are showIng him there backing by purchasing season tickets but we need the board to allow him to sign at least three big signings to show there backing. H.H.

You won’t get any argument from me on the subject of the Celtic support being shafted-I’m up there wi SYDNEYTIM in that respect.

But the appointment of BR is a signal that DD no longer entrusts the wholesale micromanagement by PL which dragged us down during the period you mention.

I genuinely believe that he has been advised to concentrate on his own areas of expertise, and leave the rest of it-ie,football-to football people.

    BobbyM,

    I know how you feel.

After the 1969 cup final, even after the joy of that game, I decided to stop going to these games.

Apart from the poison from them, I didn’t like what it was doing to me.

Hate is a strong emotion, but that is what I felt I was nurturing.

I held out until the 1971 cup final replay.

Forty five years later, my loathing of that sector of Scottish society has, if anything, increased.

Having said that, the SFA is the main focus of my disgust and contempt.

  22. Ernie ,

Unlike many who post on here I have no knowledge of how things work inside Celtic park, I have no sources and I don’t know anyone who knows someone close to the Celtic board, so I don’t know if Brendan Rodgers would have come without The Rangers being in the league, and neither do you
