And they came in huge numbers to buy season tickets

546

Ticket officeThis morning’s images of a chain of people snaking around the Celtic Park ticket office and out towards London Road is remarkable. Even more so when you consider more people were buying season tickets online than queueing from the small hours to make sure they can support Celtic next season.

Frankly, I didn’t think we’d see sights like this until we saw a change in playing environment.

Season ticket sales, together with recent commercial deals concluded with Dafabet and Magners, puts the club on an enormously better financial footing, but the benefits extend beyond what we see today. Peripheral income, such as match day spent at the superstore and at kiosks, will have a corresponding lift.

Now if we get Champions League income on top of this………….

Yes I noticed the pitch was poor last season and wondered if there had been a change of groundstaff last year, or if spend on the playing surface maintenance had been downsized to keep in line with everything else. The current nature of the main stand must help the playing surface though. It could only deteriorate with a higher stand on the south side of the ground.

  2. We can but dream of the likes of Zlatan, but it could have worked, raise the SB by £100 and there would have been a bigger Q for books that anyone could imagine, paid for up front and the added exposure would have been priceless, it’s times like this that a top of the range CEO comes into his own to make these things happen :-)

The surface was relaid for the commonwealth games, after which it was relaid again too close to the start of the season which did not give it time to bed in properly, it never recovered.

I was just thinking the same.

Would I have paid an extra £100 to see the likes of Zlatan play for us per season?6

The answer is a resounding YES.

It’s a numbers game these days, James Forrest wrote a blog earlier about how the huns will never catch us, purely because of the numbers.

  9. What a breath of fresh of air, that Les Miserables are, with a couple of exceptions, wonderfully conspicious by their absence today.

The Celtic family have spoken, loud and clear – it is what happens on the park and in the dugout, that drives them, not Res12, not ‘calling-out’ Sevco, not ‘wringing their hands’ over the SFA.

Of course there are issues to be addressed but they must not completely overshadow the club and why we support them – coming on here sometimes is like eavesdropping on the Witchfinder General’s posse – pitchforks and all.

  13. Winning captains thanks for the response earlier. I desperately want Celtic to speak out and speak out decisively. I hope they do.

Robin bhoy you asked me what would drive me to buy a season ticket again? It’s simple.

Lawwell gone (he has presided over disaster).

    Celtic actively dealing with corruption.

    Really really simple.

Brendan’s Rodgers as manager appears a great step forward but quite frankly I am pretty disgusted with most on cqn.

Rather brilliantly mats nilloc proves my point.

His triumphalism in season ticket sales not being about corruption but just on the park success (despite bizarrely any proof of on the park success) is what disgusts me.

So mats and clearly other where just waiting on the return of the Hun. Old Firmism indeed. The Celtic board did the same.

All these years of jelly and ice cream and so many squirrels I fear for their future survival.

5 years of posts analysis I the Hun and their cheating and the big lie etc.

No we have people like mats celebrating our stupidity.

    More than a club?

    Less that a sporting institution.

    More like a pantomime.

So here we are. Most of you want the Bobby Ewing shower scenario.

I am frankly appalled. Spandex it seems is increasingly popular.

  14. What a happy place this is tonight. A real feel good factor going on. Is it too late for me to switcheroo? Probably too late to get a season ticket, though!!

  16. Good evening friends.

So I decided to go online there “as if” to buy a season ticket. Map of the stadium comes up and if this is accurate (and no reason to doubt it) then there are only about 1300 seats left available to buy! Admittedly, Sections 415 to 419 (where the banners have been the last couple of years) are currently shown as ‘unavailable’ so I’m assuming they haven’t been released yet. being the saddo that I am I’ve just spent about 10 minutes countine the wee green dots, or estimating where there were too many to hurt my failing eyesight. Figures for each section are as follows with an asterisk showing where I just made a reasonable guesstimate.

    Lower tier – just 14 seats available!! 7 in 121, 2 in 122, 3 in 123, 1 in 139 and 1 in 113. Incredible!!

Upper Tier section by section –

    401 – 5

    402 – 55*

    403 – 30*

    404 – 5

    405 – 2

    406 – 4

    407 – 13

    408 – 45*

    409 – 90*

    410 – 4

    411 – 200*

    412 – 160*

    413 – 250*

    414 – 115*

    437 – 90*

    418 – 50*

    439 – 15

    440 – 12

    441 – 10

    442 – 65*

    443 – 24

    444 – 48

    445 – 21

I may copy and paste this for my usual early morning post.

  20. Neg, People on here simply want Celtic to do well. Yes we would love if Ogilve & the SFA were nailed, Nimmo as well but in the meantime I for one am not prepared to put my Celtic life on hold.

I think the penny has dropped with Desmond, maybe a bit late but better late than never.

We have a proven experienced Manager in place, we have hope that our squad will be positively restructured.

Nothing is guaranteed but we have plenty to look forward to.

Following Celtic should be a life enhancing experience, I’m not bothered at all about the Huns, I am a Celtic Supporter and there is enough stress, angst & hassle in life, so forgive me if I don’t join you in your Crusade of Misery.

  28. TET yes money! Money and Moneyball.

Cqn editorial teams refusal to discuss anything of importance when it comes to Celtic just sickens me. Disgustingly cqn still pretends to be against lazy journalism.

Mats nilloc you are a new name on this blog. That’s okay but what isn’t is your glorying in the repulsive acceptance of fraud and corruption.

I will never be able to return to Celtic while the game is an open pantomime. Your clearly like the stage mats.

Corkcelt. As In Wrestling sometimes you will be allowed to win. But mostly the rigged game will be against you.

I find it remarkable that, despite the last 4 years and the wanton corruption and cheating we simply celebrate a decent move from a board that has shafted us for 4 years. It shows the attention span of a toddler and it won’t be long till they screw it up badly.

Even allowing a lower division racist club to humiliate us is t quite enough for you.

Well get ready for more and more humiliation Corkcelt.

The board think that humiliation is our birthright.
