Armstrong, Foundation in Malawi

606

It’s a lot easier to improve a bad team than a treble winning team, but Brendan Rodgers has the latter challenge ahead this summer. One of his principle objectives will be to retain Stuart Armstrong on a new deal. As CQN reported this morning, good progress has been made on that front.

Loving the updates from the Celtic FC Foundation delegation, currently in Malawi with Mary’s Meals. You can follow the remarkable updates from LeftyBhoy here.

This work is being done in your name, with funds you helped raise. Keep an eye on what is being achieved.

Just landed for two days R&R in Belfast. Not been since the mid-90s……….. Off to find a pub and some rich culture…… Recommendations welcome but no messing!!!

Son no.2 and his friends at St Thomas Aquinas enjoy their senior prom at Marr Hall later today. I know that, at some part of the reception, they’ll reflect on what teenagers living in the Grenfell tower-block are dealing with and count their blessings, just as we all do.

How times change. Two teachers buying us a beer in the Radnor was as close to a prom as we had.

Prime Minister David Cameron today said that his new year’s resolution was to “kill off the health and safety culture for good”.

Health and safety legislation has become an “albatross around the neck of British businesses”, costing them billions of pounds a year and leaving entrepreneurs in fear of speculative claims, he said.

Jonny Hayes 11 goals and 24 assists.

Patrick Roberts: 11 goals, 19 assists.

Wee Jamesie: 8 goals, 13 assists.

  9. Thought Allan may have been a player who thrived under Rodgers, guess he made up his mind fairly quickly. Surprised he has went to Dundee on loan, suggests we didn’t think there was a market to sell him. I would imagine they are paying his full wages or we would have waited for a better offer. Some zombies may think if he has a great season they can pick him up on a free. Generally we give players a 3 year contract with a further club option of another year. If he does well I’d expect us to trigger that option.

That’s now Allan, Ambrose, Commons and O’Connell out. Expect Ciftci, Janko, GMS and at least 1 of the 2 experienced keepers to follow. Henderson and Christie needs games so both may go on loan. Guys like Gamboa, Bitton and maybe even Sviatchenko(assuming a new CB is a priority) could also be available. Squad is starting to take shape.

  10. Toure, Ambrose, O’Connell, Commons, Allan (loan) gone, Christie (loan), Janko about to leave. The clearout gathers apace. Ciftci, GMS, Bailly next?

Would Hayes be a more valuable player to the team than Gary M-Stevens?

Yes. Arguably could be more valuable than Forrest, who had a good season but is still inconsistent and injury prone.

  12. !!BADA BING!! on 14TH JUNE 2017 5:01 PM

Is Christie loan agreed? McInnes might want him at Sunderland?

Loan deal agreed as part of Hayes transfer according to Sky Sources (meaning the work experience boy has read it on social media!)

    Gary67,

I think he would be, too.

The thing about wingers, Forrest, Roberts, etc., is that they have to be on top form to be fully effective. Same with goalkeepers and, perhaps strikers also.

Other outfield players can be below par on any given day, but still contribute.

If that is the case, it can only be for the best that we have more than two wingers at the club who are potential match winners, in order to cover for loss of form or injury.

Still hope Roberts is going to be one of them.

I don’t think he would sign on those terms. Maybe try Hibs ?

  15. WHITEDOGHUNCH on 14TH JUNE 2017 5:09 PM

Hayes had approx. 3,800 mins in all comps, Forrest 2,900, Roberts 2,700

  16. If Hayes signs, and it’s still an ‘if’ until I see him at Celtic Park, then i think he will improve the squad. He won’t be a first pick ( wouldn’t be one of my first 11, anyway ), but no one player gave us more problems domestically last season.

G67- McInnes will have a limited budget at Sunderland, good chance he will try to buy some of our fringe players.

  20. 12 now confirmed dead as a result of fire in london – this figure expected to rise.

    Very sad.

  21. I know it’s petty of me and business should be business, but there’s a part of me that’s disappointed that we are doing any kind of business with Dundee and the fud that is McCann. Surely Scott Allan could have gone to another SPL team or even a League 1 team in Engerlund?

Interesting stats there about Jonny Hayes and our own Paddy and Jamsie re. the goals and assists for last season. Maybe we’re getting a better player than I thought.

    In Brendan we trust

  22. Hayes wouldn’t have played anything like 3800 minutes for us last season, even if we didn’t have both James Forrest and Paddy Roberts. He was a standout for Aberden last season, and for a number of seasons before that. They’d both still be on the team sheet before Hayes for me.

  23. What is the Stars on

Jonny Hayes may not be a classic beauty but his sharp dublin wit will have the Glasgow Ladies going weak at the knees.

There are a few ladies in Glasgow …arent there ???
