Armstrong, Foundation in Malawi

606

It’s a lot easier to improve a bad team than a treble winning team, but Brendan Rodgers has the latter challenge ahead this summer. One of his principle objectives will be to retain Stuart Armstrong on a new deal. As CQN reported this morning, good progress has been made on that front.

Loving the updates from the Celtic FC Foundation delegation, currently in Malawi with Mary’s Meals. You can follow the remarkable updates from LeftyBhoy here.

This work is being done in your name, with funds you helped raise. Keep an eye on what is being achieved.

Just landed for two days R&R in Belfast. Not been since the mid-90s……….. Off to find a pub and some rich culture…… Recommendations welcome but no messing!!!

Wee Jonny Hayes doesn’t even qualify as an unclassic beauty.

Homely is one thing…………….Hunly is quite another.

Beauty (or lack thereof) is in the eye of the beholder.

    ……………………………

    Not true!

I’m sure I saw a quote from a government spokesperson saying big Theresa was upset. At least.

  5. This is to any Star Wars fans.

Does Theresa May remind anyone of Jar Jar Binks?

    Or is it just me?

  6. Sitting here having had a magnificent day at Euro Disney with my partner my son, my step daughter and my granddaughter and have a peek at UK news to read of the devestaion in the tower block in London.

Seriously puts into perspective the value of your own family. God rest the souls of those who have lost their lives in the fire and thoughts and prayers with them and their loved ones.

Turned on the news to catch a report about a guy who has been warning for years about the danger of the construction methods used to modernise these old buildings. Some people high up in these companies should be worrying about prison time but we know they won’t be. They will sleep well tonight in their luxury accomodation.

The Tory silence today….will be a result of them trying to get their stories straight for the media.

I dont think they are going to bs their way out of this.

    They need jailed.

Brandon Lewis….I hope one of the locals get hold of him.

  8. I still can’t say I am enthused by the signing of Hayes but if the manager thinks he can do a job for us, I am happy to go along with that. Couldn’t care less if he is a West Brit Dub (whatever that means). If, as has been suggested he is an Orangeman, the first Celtic captain I watched was the great Bertie Peacock, also an Orangeman. If Hayes gives his all for the jersey, that’s fine by me.

  9. I was under the impression that we had to spend some of our wheans of cash or else give it to the tax man, now that’s a novel idea, so 1.3 mill or whatever it is for our future player of the year is peanuts in the grand scheme of things.

Far too many discounting the Brendan effect, McGregor, Boyatta, Armstrong, Forrest to name a few have excelled under BR, as will Jonny when he has far superior players around him, another thing most haven’t taken into account.

  10. The football questions I had can wait till another day. So far, I have not noticed the May one, or Elizabeth Windsor Mountbaton, or even a government minister visit the scene of the tragedy that has once again caused London great sorrow. God grant eternal rest to those who lost their lives, consolation to their loved ones and healing for those still in hospital.

I concur with all you’re comments, and thank you once again for all you’re spiritual comfort in Lisbon

  12. Delaneys Dunky on

Pleased with the signing of Jonny Hayes.

Stuart Armstrong and JH are the two best players outwith Celtic that I have watched in the SPL these last few years. Good we have them both in our team now.

  13. PHILBHOY…

I survived a house fire by the skin of my teeth pulling a mate out that wouldn’t be here if I didn’t go in to get him, the backdraft and the fumes (happened years ago when most houses had the banned now tiles on the ceiling) was horrific.

My parents only had a wear and tear insurance policy, peanuts paid out.

Most of the residents will be lucky if they are insured at all from what I’ve seen on the news, mostly people on a low income or dependant on benefits.

God help them as all will be gone including cherished photographs and personal belongings. HH

  14. Magnificentseven on

I am assuming the ones moaning about the lack of signings are aware the English window is not yet open?

  15. SFTB

    Hope so!

Group stages will be great but I fear many will be expecting us to go further.

The difference between getting to the group stages and progressing from them is huge IMO.

Have we the squad to get us there?

  16. Delaneys Dunky on

    SFTB

I have watched John McGinn since he was 10 or 11. He played with my nephew. Would love to see J McG in the hoops.

  17. SIPSINI

I think most if not all contents insurance policies are on a “new for old” basis.

Like you I fear many of the victims have none.

Personal and sentimental possessions are irreplaceable and would be the greatest personal loss.

    Very very sad.

  18. PHILBHOY

A lesser squad got us there last year. So I’m very hopeful por cierto.

  19. CQN white smoke?

Welcome Johnny Hayes. He’s just part of the jigsaw that won’t be complete or will have pieces missing by the end of August.

  20. SIPSINI

Sorry, I should have praised you for your obvious bravery in saving your friend.

I will remember you both in my prayers.

  21. Philbhoy, I have no links, but if either of the ladies mentioned had been there the media would have been all over them. I remember when I was a student in Belgium, there was a terrible mining accident and one of the first on the scene was King Baudouin.

  22. Johnny Hayes will not an instead of Patrick Roberts signing. Stuart Armstrong currently on holiday I believe, when he returns we will know where he will be for the next four years!

    Keep the Faith!

    Hail Hail!

  23. Por Cierto

A squad that hadn’t gelled would be nearer the mark imo, I have high hopes that the qualifiers will be a much easier proposition this next season, as for getting out of the groups, a much harder thing all together, third for me and a decent run in the Europa would be a dream, we are still miles behind so many teams when it comes to europe, time is what we need to get the squad euro ready, I hope that the club back Brendan the way he wants, hopefully they will.

  24. Delaneys Dunky on

Hopefully we will have a stronger squad for Europe this year. If we make CL group stages, I would hope that we get a group like Leicester’s last season, and avoid Barca this time. :)

  25. TET

    Aye totally agree.

Por cierto in Aquilas at the moment having a Mexican , drop in. lol

  26. POR CIERTO

    I am hopeful too.

But………………..I think we will need a much stronger squad to progress.

I’m not sure Siimo and Boyata are good enough outside of the SPL.

Without Broony in the midfield i fear we will be overrun.

    We need to strengthen.

    Where is Ebuoe Kouassi?

Did we pay millions for him?

Is he not responding to the Brendan effect?

    If not, why not?

  27. Delaneys Dunky on

Patrick and Stuart signing 4 year contracts for Celtic would make my summer Lennybhoy.

    Here’s hoping!

I agree- I would place John McGinn as 3rd best.

A headless chicken.Bags of endevour. If thats the level some think will push us on,we are goosed.I know you are not advocating us buying him,but many are.

I have no idea why.Only my opinion.

  29. DELANEYS DUNKY

Perhaps I am a wee bit impatient for player additions.

    Still plenty of time.

Aye nobody volunteering to empty ma chanty tomorrow that’s for sure.

Yes but early days really in the Brendan era. Let’s give time, time, por cierto.
