Armstrong, Foundation in Malawi

606

It’s a lot easier to improve a bad team than a treble winning team, but Brendan Rodgers has the latter challenge ahead this summer. One of his principle objectives will be to retain Stuart Armstrong on a new deal. As CQN reported this morning, good progress has been made on that front.

Loving the updates from the Celtic FC Foundation delegation, currently in Malawi with Mary’s Meals. You can follow the remarkable updates from LeftyBhoy here.

This work is being done in your name, with funds you helped raise. Keep an eye on what is being achieved.

Just landed for two days R&R in Belfast. Not been since the mid-90s……….. Off to find a pub and some rich culture…… Recommendations welcome but no messing!!!

    Jonny Hayes eh. Oh dear.

Celtic not building from a position of strength is of course a rite of passage for us.

Let’s face it. Money is more important that football success after all…….

I realise you are hurting, but you could at least wait until our Treble winning, Invincible Manager has finalised his squad for the coming season before passing comment. The window has been open for 5 minutes and he is on Honeymoon. That post was pretty pathetic and small-minded.

Paul Byrne dined out on that Ibrox equaliser a lot…an awful lot

Played against him and David Speedie a few years back ( Speedie was living in Dublin ,might still be,not a very nice guy) Byrne was like the Michelin Man’s older fatter brother.

I hope he does well, but to be honest I cant see him dis placing any of our regular starting 11

Its a great move for him and he will be a very good player to have in the squad.Maybe Brendan can improve him and maybe we will see him become a better player by having better players around him.

No one scoring political points here.

People are simply pointing out that the residents had voiced serious concerns about the fire safety procedures at the flat block. Their voices seemed to have gone unheeded

Is it just a coincidence that the tragedy has occurred while the current government has a policy of light regulation and not interfering in the” market place” .I think not.

Now imagine if the fire had been started deliberately by ..oh let’s just say a Syrian refugee. .I am sure you wouldn’t have been on attempting to score political points about the demonic wave of refugees coming to Europe to kill us all

    =======================================

PARTY political. Ideological is what I said.

    Read back ,pal.

    Tory. May. Capitalism.

Hanged by the CQN jury even before the tragic fire is extinguished.

The safety of Britons in not a party political or ideological issue .

    Nor should it be.

    BTW.

The shootings of Republicans in USA was carried out by an active supporter of Bernie Sanders .

The jury is not out on that one.

    MACJAY1 @ 10:25 PM,

You were the first, or one of the first to post…

Re: The Manchester Arena terrorist attack and The Borough Market, London terrorist attack.

On both occasions you did not express Condolences for the victims and made “Political” points.

Surely you can’t have it both ways…

    Hail Hail

    =================================================================

Nor would I want it both ways.

This was not a party political or ideological issue.

This was an issue about the safety of UK citizens and the gross dereliction of duty of both the major political parties .

There is significant evidence now that the Brexit vote was carried by voters who did not follow party allegiances.

    And quite right too.

    Safety is the issue.

Sadly , attempts are only now being made to shut the stable door.

Brendan has earned the right to make the call and in the unlikely event that he gets it wrong , well he has earned that right as well .

Im sorry to say this, but you dont have a clue what you are talking about.

I cant even be bothered exposing your deficient thinking….you are blinded by a lie.

You dont care about people, you are more interested in defending Tory policy; from arms, to the DWP, to fire regulation.

You have had a compassion bypass somewhere along the line, and you refuse to accept that most people disagree with you….nothing new with Tories.

The majority of the people in the UK(which you dont live in), are violently opposed to the Conservatives, which you just will not accept, for your own selfish motives, just like Theresa May and the rest of the FKwits.

Dont expect sympathy for your views on CQN….you are in a very small minority.

You must know that people like me wont accept your silly narrative.

I tried to point out how your arguments and attitude were guided by hackneyed tory bs…..Edmund Burke, Winston Churchill, and so on.

I dont know if you realize that your discourse has been standard tory fodder for 250 years .

Nothing you say is original, its well -worn and tattered….and so, so easy to rebut.

Its the politics class hatred and rank stupidity.

I suggest you might like to look at Edmund Burke’s address to the electors of Bristol.

Then you will understand where your inept discourse originated.

  19. Wonder how Tory voting Catholics feel now?

Wonder how those 72 Tory landlords who voted against making homes “FIT FOR HUMAN HABITATION” feel now?

Wonder how Cameron, who was hell bent on destroying Health & Safety regulations, feels now?

Wonder how Theresa May’s new Chief of Staff, Gavin Barwell, feels about sitting on a report warning about high rise flats, like Grenfell Tower, were vulnerable to fire?

    I already know the answer.

Neg, to use his sobriquet, is rightly wary about the Hayes signing, as he experienced the pain of the dreaded “Willo Flood Window.” Shivers

Now, assuming he is signed, I believe as I said last night, that we have given up on Paddy.

I’m sure he will be a useful addition to the squad and will help get us through the CL qualifiers.

Whether he will help raise our level in the SPFL and CL groups is open to conjecture and his merits and defects need to be openly expressed and discussed.

With GMS headed elsewhere, James’ injury problems, I believe he is a good signing at this point, but not one which will improve our CL prospects.

    Unless BR improves him.

CQN can get down and dirty, I’m a big boy so no issues from me. Now this evening you said this: “How sad to see this day of utter tragedy being hijacked for party political and ideological purposes…”

After the Borough Market Terrorist attack there was many a fine and heart felt post on here but it was WAY over-shadowed – CQN was a disgrace that night.

Now I believe the Moderators on this site give you a lot of leeway.

That morning many CQNers woke up to be outraged and appalled by what had been posted, as I said, it was a disgrace – remember what the Mods said?

  26. Morning all

Body clock now somewhere over the Atlantic

I have followed the events of the last 24 hours from London with a certain numbness and considerable sympathy for all those effected. I was once in a close- in Edinburgh where there was a fire -and for a few minutes it was as terrifying as anything I am ever likely to experience. I can though still barely grasp how terrifying things must have been for those in that block. I can only hope that the death toll does not rise significantly higher than it already stands at.

I can understand why there is also anger in London and elsewhere but until the truth becomes clear as to what caused the blaze I am less inclined to apportion blame than some are here and elsewhere Now does not seem to be quite the right time.

And yet I find it hard not to think that this will prove to have been another calamity like Aberfan or Hillsborough which many on the ground had forecast – for literally years before hand. Another instance where those with an absolute duty of care have neglected that duty for reasons that will- if past disasters are anything to go by- remain officially obscure for decades .

24 hours after the disaster all all I can do is hope and pray that the scale of disaster does not prove to be as large as I fear it will be whilst offering my condolences to those who have lost loved ones. Attribution of blame belongs to another day
