Armstrong, Foundation in Malawi

606

It’s a lot easier to improve a bad team than a treble winning team, but Brendan Rodgers has the latter challenge ahead this summer. One of his principle objectives will be to retain Stuart Armstrong on a new deal. As CQN reported this morning, good progress has been made on that front.

Loving the updates from the Celtic FC Foundation delegation, currently in Malawi with Mary’s Meals. You can follow the remarkable updates from LeftyBhoy here.

This work is being done in your name, with funds you helped raise. Keep an eye on what is being achieved.

Just landed for two days R&R in Belfast. Not been since the mid-90s……….. Off to find a pub and some rich culture…… Recommendations welcome but no messing!!!

I meant a post containing a controversial viewpoint, in the context of a Celtic Blog.

Not putting words in anyones mouth but furinstance…

Celtic are the finest team in Scotland – I hope most would agree.

  3. Ok so how can a tower block, thats experienced fires before more than once, suddenly become a towering inferno. Through external cladding? That your not trying to tell me hasnt been tested to the enth degree?

You’ll be telling me burning office furniture caused the free fall collapse of 2 modern office blocks next.

    There will be an investigation.

However, i can tell you now, the conclusion will be that the authorities and those responsible, need to ‘learn lessons’.

That seems to be the stock excuse now.

    Controversial.

    Well .

I still feel that Celtic are and should remain all inclusive……even inclusive of the great satan Tories .

That may well be part of what fuels my ” tendentious ” but honestly held but brass necked opinions .

  9. DD i believe all materials used in cladding buildings have to be tested to European standards It wasnt a new material. Even so, it doesnt explain the internal fires.

Is the financial advantage we have over the newest Galsgow side sumountable?

Or will a few free signings bolster the club enough to give their fans hope that the G A P can be bridged?

There was a surge of unbridled enthusiasm and optimism last season when they finally crawled into the premier league.

A few churnalists even predicted they would win the league.

BFDJ did also. Stop laughing at the back…….And front.

Let’s see if the “experts” have learned their lesson or if Level 5 will prevail.

  11. MACJAY1 @ 2:04 AM,

Personally, I’m pretty much all-inclusive, that doesn’t mean to say I don’t find a lot of my friends and associates wrong minded, I just tend to accept folk as they are.

Celtic!? Not sure what you mean by all-inclusive in that sense. For me Celtic at it’s best have stood for values that are inherent but not limited to the Catholic Credo. It can be secular but not im/a/moral.

Still, that’s not the point I was making, was it?

My point was just after the Manchester Arena attack your first post was a pop at Irish Republicanism, comparing the attack to the Birmingham Pub Bombings. In the wake of the Borough Market Terrorist attack you were in the thick of a sordid squabble that did the participants and the blog in general a great disservice in the aftermath of such a tragedy.

Yet a couple of weeks later after another tradedgy you become self-righteous and take the Moral high ground.

    Pretty poor fayre.

I doubt that your first point is correct and I would be obliged if you could point me to the post of mine you are referring to.

Your second ” sordid squabble ” point is merely your opinion. It takes two to squabble .

Perhaps you could point me to your condemnation of the other participant ( s ) ?

Presumably you feel that ” brass necked ” is reasonable discourse.

    Morning all

Body clock now somewhere over the Atlantic

I have followed the events of the last 24 hours from London with a certain numbness and considerable sympathy for all those effected. I was once in a close- in Edinburgh where there was a fire -and for a few minutes it was as terrifying as anything I am ever likely to experience. I can though still barely grasp how terrifying things must have been for those in that block. I can only hope that the death toll does not rise significantly higher than it already stands at.

I can understand why there is also anger in London and elsewhere but until the truth becomes clear as to what caused the blaze I am less inclined to apportion blame than some are here and elsewhere Now does not seem to be quite the right time.

And yet I find it hard not to think that this will prove to have been another calamity like Aberfan or Hillsborough which many on the ground had forecast – for literally years before hand. Another instance where those with an absolute duty of care have neglected that duty for reasons that will- if past disasters are anything to go by- remain officially obscure for decades .

24 hours after the disaster all all I can do is hope and pray that the scale of disaster does not prove to be as large as I fear it will be whilst offering my condolences to those who have lost loved ones. Attribution of blame belongs to another day

What’s your view on Pope Francis appointing Professor Biggar, an abortion supporter, to the Pontifical Academy for Life?

    Didn`t know that.

Perhaps its an effort to be inclusive of other faiths.

ie a move for ecumenism .

    Makes me uncomfortable. however.

” During an interview in 2011 Nigel, an Anglican minister and Regius Professor of Moral and Pastoral Theology at the U.K.’s University of Oxford, stated, “I would be inclined to draw the line for abortion at 18 weeks after conception, which is roughly about the earliest time when there is some evidence of brain activity and therefore of consciousness.”

  20. Taurangabhoy on

Macjay who you fighting the night ? ; )

Where does it say in the bible or Koran that abortion is wrong? Is this a man made law.

Personally I don’t think any imaginary friend should tell any woman what to do with their body.

Science could make a million babies from a million sperm and eggs from a single man and a single woman. Theology and the flat earth mentality against science. I would say theology hold the cards in the modern world.

How are you , mate ?

Watching the Lions , I expect.

Abortion is too delicate a subject for me to discuss at length on this forum.

Suffice to say I have studied embryology to a limited extent , but enough to form a view .

My only reference was to the Papal appointment of a pro abortionist , a practice which would appear to be at odds with the teaching of the Church.

    That`s all.

That comment and your subsequent comments do you a great dis-service. All victims are human beings.

There have been numerous complaints from residents about massive power surges (after the reurb) that have destroyed household appliances. There have also been numerous instances over the last few years of faulty ridges, tumble dryers and washing machines causing fires.

It’s also interesting that the company who put the cladding up amended their statement yesterday and remove d the line that their cladding had passed fire checks and regulations!
