Armstrong, Foundation in Malawi

606

It’s a lot easier to improve a bad team than a treble winning team, but Brendan Rodgers has the latter challenge ahead this summer. One of his principle objectives will be to retain Stuart Armstrong on a new deal. As CQN reported this morning, good progress has been made on that front.

Loving the updates from the Celtic FC Foundation delegation, currently in Malawi with Mary’s Meals. You can follow the remarkable updates from LeftyBhoy here.

This work is being done in your name, with funds you helped raise. Keep an eye on what is being achieved.

Just landed for two days R&R in Belfast. Not been since the mid-90s……….. Off to find a pub and some rich culture…… Recommendations welcome but no messing!!!

There are a number of ad-hoc Mosques in Swindon(-as well as a really beautiful Sikh Temple.)

Driving round the area in the early hours,I am always astonished at the dedication of the Islamic community to attend prayer at c3am. I know their observance limits their activities in daytime, but respect is,indeed, due for that.

10 man France giving England’s overpaid, overrated prima donnas a lesson.

    3-2, ten mins to go

    ————————————————-

Never watched the game so I can’t really comment. What I do know is that some of France’s players also fall into that category e.g. Pogba.

Pogba was excellent last night. As good as he played all season. Maybe Deschamps, like Allegri at Juve, know how to get the best out of him. Playing in an attacking side helps.

  4. Izzy replacement? Direct quote from player…

CELTIC have made a shock move for Switzerland’s former Spurs and Juventus defender Reto Ziegler and have offered him a deal, according to the player.

But the Hoops face competition from La Liga’s Real Betis, who are also in for the 31-year-old Sion captain.

The far-travelled stopper, who can play at left back or central defence, is out of contract at Sion in his homeland and wants a new challenge.

And he’s revealed in a Swiss newspaper he’s weighing up a move to the Scottish champions.

Asked if Celtic and Betis had offered him a deal, Ziegler said: “That’s true. But before I meet with those two clubs, I will also meet with the people who run Sion to find out more.

“The offers from Celtic and Betis are an honour for me.

  6. I fear the final figure for the loss of life in this fire will be absolutely horrendous. Shocking revelations that this was predicted by the action group.

As I said,a very specialised career choice. Obviously the attraction of dry-cleaning fluids isn’t enough anymore.

  8. Hebcelt

I wouldnt worry too much about the fixture list. We will get St Johnstone or Motherwell away 1st game. Huns will get Hamilton or Ross County at home. Our 1st game v them will be held back as long as possible, same as last year. If Celtic play as we know they can, it wont matter.

The fixtures should be published asap to enable fans to plan trips etc but even then Sky or BT will move our matches with minimum notice. Surely its in all clubs’ interests to minimise such disruption. Do something Celtic. The TV cash is pathetic anyway.

Thanks For that. You may be right about Pogba, although I still think his transfer fee and salary are waaaay too high. Not his fault I hasten to add.

    Pogba ?

Didn’t see the game . Summer friendlies dont float my boat . Did read match reports in 3 Italian fitba papers and 2 quality newspapers ( something that still exists in Italy ).

General consensus ? . Pogba played very well . . Looked like the player he was at Juve . Playing in the position / style which suits him . Playing in an attacking team . Surrounded by good players . Not playing anti football a la Man U .

Other comments ? . France are a very good team with some super duper players . England are poor . No playmaker . No midfield worthy of the name . Can’t pass the ball.

    Izzy replacement?

    ___

Never seen him play. Would make sense to bring in an affordable journeyman if Izzy wants to go elsewhere.

Izzy’s been a good player for us and if he wants to leave to ensure he plays then fair enough.

You obviously understand precisely what I was referring to earlier.

    :-)

The Muslim religion now has what used to be so admired in Catholic communities by non-Catholics.

    Discipline.

In the imho hedonistic West , with feckless rudderless youth , it doesn`t surprise me in the slightest that the Muslim faith attracts converts amongst the young and not so young .

Remember days fast and abstinence ?

    It’s close-season/silly-season. Twas always thus.

  21. The problem with the ‘close season’ is that there’s very little ‘news’, and so the gutter press make stuff up. We’ve learned to be very sceptical about any of the nonsense that they call ‘news’, hence the conversations at this time tend to be mostly non-football.

It’s more like a chat room at this time of year, with the odd story or slightly more informed source to keep the footie content alive.

Always the same at this time, so conversations tend to be more about current affairs and what’s happening outside the fitba, Which is fine, just so long as we all remember the reason we came here in the first place – we all ( well, nearly all ) have that one common bond, and for me, that makes it easier for me to accept that others have a different perspective, and don’t deserve disrespect because of that.

Interesting point you make. They are indeed inherently dangerous as housing due to being built before safety laws were introduced, and retrofitting is difficult.
