Armstrong, Foundation in Malawi

606

It’s a lot easier to improve a bad team than a treble winning team, but Brendan Rodgers has the latter challenge ahead this summer. One of his principle objectives will be to retain Stuart Armstrong on a new deal. As CQN reported this morning, good progress has been made on that front.

Loving the updates from the Celtic FC Foundation delegation, currently in Malawi with Mary’s Meals. You can follow the remarkable updates from LeftyBhoy here.

This work is being done in your name, with funds you helped raise. Keep an eye on what is being achieved.

Just landed for two days R&R in Belfast. Not been since the mid-90s……….. Off to find a pub and some rich culture…… Recommendations welcome but no messing!!!

    Re harp bar

Long time ago ’75 to be precise unionist militants planted a bomb in the bar.Denis McAuley lost his life as a result of the attack.Denis was 30 years old,Celtic fanatic from New Lodge and a regular on the old Royal Ulsterman and Royal Scotsman on a Friday night. We would meet in pats bar and then board the boat for the 10 hour trip to Glasgow.Mention of the harp bar brought back memories of going to the games all those years ago and fond memories of Denis(RIP).

  2. A couple of observations on the SFA.

Their CEO has been accused of telling lies by the Gen Sec of the CSA, one of the largest supporter groups in Scotland.

If that is not true why is the charge not refuted or the accuser sued?

Why have the smsm not reported such an accusation?

Ok rhetorical questions I know, but how sad is that dishonesty in all forms of government has now become the accepted norm and no one gives a *&*^.

This notification was first made at least two years ago but I have never seen it published.

Publication would of course give an indication why a UEFA licence was granted to TRFC this year and if it was safely granted why are SFA not publishing or promoting that the information has been published?

I see a few mentions of the Stone Roses in Belfast tonight; I find myself with 2 spare £60.50 tickets for the Glasgow gig on 24th June if anyone is looking for a couple of briefs.

  4. The ex-Conservative PM Sir John Major said he was “dubious” about a deal and its impact on the peace process.

He told BBC Radio 4’s World at One that if the Conservatives “locked” themselves into a deal with one of the main parties in Northern Ireland, there was a danger the government would no longer be seen as an “impartial honest broker” in restoring the power-sharing arrangements and upholding NI institutions.

Peace in Northern Ireland should “not be regarded as a given”, said Sir John – whose government laid the foundations for the peace process in the 1990s – and nothing should be done to “exaggerate the differences” between the unionist and nationalist communities.

He urged Theresa May to consider governing on her own, saying this would not “carry the baggage” for the Conservatives that an arrangement with the DUP would.

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Never thought I would actually praise a Tory.

I believe the creditors report at 30th April 2017 for dead Rangers is on the BDO website today. Haven’t had an opportunity yet to find out how much more of the kitty BDO rinsed through to themselves. That’ll be tonight’s entertainment.

Random musing: best case scenario for me this summer is Shamrock Rovers to ko Sevco from the Europa League two days before we visit Dublin. I’d expect us to provide a guard of honour for the victors were that to transpire.

  6. The hand of God on

I used to attend all Scotland home games in the 80s and 90s have subsequently lost interest but I watched Saturdays game and was jumping around like a mad man when the Griff scored his second…an absolute downer just after.I was shouting for the bhoy with the fine hair to bloomer the ball as faraway as possible at the time but it occurred to me afterwards how Gordon Strachan is always emphasising the importance of players being brave on the ball….still wish he had hoofed it.

The ex-Conservative PM Sir John Major said he was “dubious” about a deal and its impact on the peace process.

In the near future. Mrs May will ruefully reflect on Kiplings words once famously quoted by Churchill.

‘Having paid the Danegeld, you never get rid of the Dane’.

  8. Greetings, Davidopoulos in Portsmouth here…

    Sorry – typo…

Davidopoulos greeting here in Portsmouth. Travelling on business is pish when the football isn’t on.

Have we signed Michal Kadlec yet?

Seemingly Fletcher will be travelling with the team, but his big motor will drive itself there and pick him up after the game:)

  10. THE GREEN MAN SAYS SACK THE BOARD

My theory is that Fletcher’s ability to hit a coo on the erse with a banjo is inversely correlated to the size/expensive of his motor.

Not that I advocate assaulting heifers with stringed instruments you understand…

I’ll miss McInness up here.He was always very complimentary about Celtic and added some whimsy to a dreary, dull Scottish football scene. ;)))

Hirsute hun, hope he’s a maker of Makem misery.

  13. The Green Man says SACK THE Board on

McInnes will be back up the road pronto.

They will eat him alive down there.

How many managers have tried to fix Sunderland.

    Cant wait till he fails:)

    HH

  14. IMO, McInnes will provide strong and stable leadership for Sunderland.

    HH. To a continuous journey.

  15. fairhill bhoy on

Just watched Charlie interview, and some people still wondering why he still not at Celtic

  16. If McInnes goes to Sunderland it is only until there is a vacancy at Sevco, Aberdeen would not want to do a deal with Sevco direct, he is a poor manager and will beup here again pronto, I wonder what Tony Docherty will do if Sevco come calling?

  17. “Off to find a pub and some rich culture”

Yer a month early for the kultur chief:-)

  18. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

If McInnes does go to Sunderland , he will be lucky to see out the season unless they are in the top two. Greetin faced McInnes will not get the time to build a team like he did at Pittodrie.

If Alex Neil, who is a better manager in my opinion , can get sacked by a more stable club, Norwich , then McInnes will have no chance at Sunderland , a club who seem in crisis , constantly.

FAIRHILL BHOY on 13TH JUNE 2017 7:38 PM

Just watched Charlie interview, and some people still wondering why he still not at Celtic

    ——–

I assume this is Charlie Mulgrew. After the final game of season 15/16, Charlie spoke to Spanner and EBT McCann after the match on the pitch at CP. He said we missed the Huns and he couldn’t wait to have the Old Firm game back.

    Cheerio Chazza.

  20. thetimreaper on

Martin Bain is CEO at Sunderland, his Hun network has led him to an uninspiring choice like McInnes. The Club is an absolute basket case and the job Manager’s job itself is a poisoned chalice. McInnes will know he’s on a hiding to nothing at Aberdeen, he’s taken them as far as he can and they are offloading players left, right and centre. In all likelihood he will flop down there but even if he does he know’s he’ll get another crack at in Scotland, and wherever that is will be his stepping stone to the Huns.

  21. Slightly Celtic related post alert !!

Don’t know if anyone here is interested, but Gun have announced a show at The Barrowlands on 2nd December as part of a mini tour to support there new album…out in September and available to buy on pre-release here….. https://gun.tmstor.es/

Tickets for Barrowlands also available from this link.

If you’ve not seen them live, they’re really rather good, and if you have seen them, then you’ll want to see them again. Here’s hoping that we have a home game that day….it’ll be a cracking day out if we are !

Oh aye, the Celtic link……Jules and Dante are both right good Tims :-)

  22. Tommy Wright should be the only candidate for the Aberdeen job same as he should have been the only candidate for the sevco job.

Would Big Eck be welcome back at The Rhodes? He has a tax bill to pay so it maybe of interest to him.

  23. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

That idiot Clive Tyldsley commentating in the France v England match saying Ousman Dembele on his weaker right foot .
