Armstrong, Foundation in Malawi

606

It’s a lot easier to improve a bad team than a treble winning team, but Brendan Rodgers has the latter challenge ahead this summer. One of his principle objectives will be to retain Stuart Armstrong on a new deal. As CQN reported this morning, good progress has been made on that front.

Loving the updates from the Celtic FC Foundation delegation, currently in Malawi with Mary’s Meals. You can follow the remarkable updates from LeftyBhoy here.

This work is being done in your name, with funds you helped raise. Keep an eye on what is being achieved.

Just landed for two days R&R in Belfast. Not been since the mid-90s……….. Off to find a pub and some rich culture…… Recommendations welcome but no messing!!!

  1. For what Craig Gordon cost us, it must be one of the best signings ever.

To replace him with equal walk into the team ability would cost mega, mega bucks. And to think I was against signing him at the time.lol.

    Good shout Bobby M.

That was a terrific wee night, the weather was fine for once – standing drinking and singing Celtic songs in the heart of the city centre.

£30m in the “best league in the world” is nothing nowadays. That’s the equivalent of us spending £1-2m on a player. It is ridiculous but ridiculous is the norm down there now.An overhyped, overrated, underwhelming product that makes owners and players financially rich whilst pretending to offer the best football in the world even as your eyes are burning at the sight of West brom v Middlesbrough or Burnley v Crystal Palace doing their best to convince us otherwise.

The EPL is a shining example of how the idolatry of money ruins whatever it permeates.Apart from the marketing folk, they love it (Bill Hicks was spot on about them).

Anywho, enough of that, still giggling at the huns having a player called Candyass. ;)))

  7. thetimreaper on

I’m very happy with Craig Gordon, he’s been outstanding for us. He could have done better at the first goal at the weekend but blaming him for the second goal is nonsense.

  8. There were a couple of mistakes for England’s 2nd goal. Armstrong’s bad ball, Mulgrew not tracking Kane’s run and then Gordon not cutting out the cross.

I thought Gordon had a poor game over the piece, badly at fault for 1st goal, nearly got caught out charging off when KT cleared off the line, parrying most of the shots hit at him and always looks to have a clanger in him when the ball is at his feet. That said I’d much rather he had games like that for Scotland rather than Celtic.

  9. WITS

May well have been, seeing as I was still in shorts in the early 80s I’m not too sure.

The two centre halfs in front of Gordon wouldn’t have done much for his confidence.

Neither looked as if they wanted to take a pass from the keeper.

A keeper playing out from the back needs ALL the players in front of him to be on message.

As an aside, do any of our fact checkers know if any of our players on International duty, lost in a WC qualifier at the weekend?

  11. I could not agree more with THETIMREAPER about Craig Gordon.

He has made very few mistakes this season and I would rate him as one of the very best goalkeepers in Celtics history.

Brazil played within themselves and could have scored 8 with continhou an later Willem being the standouts

  13. GIVEHIMTHEMONEYPETERCSC,

Thanks. Personally, I’m glad he only played that long. I hope there are no more games. He needs a rest before training starts for the qualifers.

People used to jump over hedges when they seen you coming (well I think it was the ballots). Interesting times particularly during the feuds.

  26. AULDHEID on 12TH JUNE 2017 6:35 PM

‘Glad to clear up the foundering misconception.

    ———————————

    Apologies for late reply.

Auldheid. You have done nothing to clear up my ‘misconceptions’.

You withdrew an offer to let me talk personally with a donor (who I was willing to travel from Ireland to meet) that you say funded the early Res 12 legal work. So, why can’t I meet up with him now? It could still be arranged. I don’t bite. Although, if I remember correctly, you suggested that he might bite, or worse.

Or, as I believe, the donor story just made up… and, that the early Res 12 legal work was funded by the Plc?

Another chance you had to clear up my ‘misconceptions’ was that, when asked, you refused to say if the four requisitioners were shareholders. What was so difficult with a Yes/No answer?

As a signatory to Res 12 it would have been preferable to me to have been represented by fellow shareholders, but in the grand scheme of things it didn’t matter that much. So what was the big problem? You could have told me privately in our email exchanges. Instead I was forced to take the company legal route and ask the PLC for its list of shareholders. Instead of asking a question of you demanding a basic binary yes/no answer it was much easier for the CQN pack dogs here to turn around and vilify me as some sort of McCoist-like witch hunter. What an irony!

You later suggested privately, my quest for the truth could be helped, if I met up, here in Donegal, with Phil MacGiollabhain, who, I was told, had participated with requisitioners (The fifth Beatle??) in the early stages of their Res 12 deliberations with the Plc.

I refused that invitation, for the same reason that I declined Canamalar’s suggestion by private email to me that I join the inner circle after the climb down in November 2013.

Believe me Auldheid, I’d chose blissful ignorance any day, rather than to have to listen out for dog whistles from you, Canamalar or Phil MacGiollabhain in order to become one of the ‘privileged’ few, being fed scraps of self-serving pap by the Plc. You’ll see, I’ve left out BRTH. That’s for another day. Morrissey too, but, in his case, I don’t know enough to comment.

Finally, I’ll refer you to your own analogy, of the Res 12 ball being just six inches from the goal line waiting to be tapped in. How long ago was that?

And you say you haven’t been duped!

The Fort is mixed – Stickies and Provos.

I think it original name was Gilmartins, or McCartans? Could well have been Maguires, or maybe that’s the Laurel Leaf, not certain.

Said to be the best pint in Belfast.

The main Sticky club is Cyprus Street, not far from where The Oak used to be.

WITS – There’s a Gaelic club called Dwyers, could have been sticks drank there?

That Blackstaff was a mental pub – Erps and Ra all drank there together.

Then there was also the Hibs, Davitts, Foresters, McDermots, Daleys – the old Celtic bar was top 5 lunatic asylums ever drank incredible level of insanity.

There’s a brilliant wee pub near that area called Hanratty’s – probably one of the smallest pubs in Ireland, really nice pints.

Walked through Bank Square an hour ago and outside Kelly’s was buzzing, it’s mild enough today.

St.Mary’s is getting a lot of work done to the facade, must still be open though as people were walking in and out of it.
