Ashley could fulfil Tarantino vision

948

Did Dave King honestly say there would be a “forensic investigation” before newco, under his control, would repay Mike Ashley’s £10m loan?  This, before the second tranche of the loan, which the club will need to meet payroll, is paid, and while Ashley could acquire an array of property and IP assets by simply not transferring the money when expected.

Unnecessarily provoking the source of short-term finance your club is dependent on is a bizarre tactic.

If it is indeed “the end” for the current newco board, as King promises, said board have a matter of weeks to secure whatever assets they can for those who have previously invested in the club and provided loans.

The crux of King’s comments are reported as:

“Would we pay [Ashley] immediately, I don’t think so no. We would complete a forensic investigation.

“If David Somers’ indication is correct that there has been some malfeasance then it is possible that the club would have a claim then I would attach the money and make a claim.

“If any individuals behaved improperly then it is important that they are held accountable.”

There’s a scene in Pulp Fiction when an unfortunate predator, “Z”, is informed that some African Americans are about to “Get medieval on his ass”.  We don’t get to see what this means but stay tuned, between now and the EGM, Mike Ashley might just provide a demonstration of what Tarantino had in mind.

Remember, Ashley is not at Ibrox because he fancies being the next David Murray.  He is not interested in the godforsaken world of having to run a football club in Glasgow, he’s happy to allow others to carry this burden.

He may well allow King to ‘win’ the EGM, but the spoils of victory will be very much on his terms.  Trying hard not to imagine Paul Murray in a leather mask now.

Today is World Cancer Day.  This disease has taken too many from the blog already, not to mention millions across the globe.  There is a lot of good news, though.  Progress is being made, but many in the developing world need access to simple preventative treatments, methodologies and information.

The preventative message still needs to get through to a great many in the developing world, before it’s too late.  Here’s a video outlining where the battle is at the moment:

Thats true and a great player doesny need pace.. pirlo, scholes etc but beyond another year im not sure if kris will play on a regular basis if ronnie keels being allowed to bring in his own players.

Mcgregor, armstrong and stefan all seem pretty capable of playing that role.. they obviously havent got kris shooting accuracy ..yet.

any young lad at paradise should be keeping an eye on kris in training. Learn alot

You gotta read the article on the beeb website.

First – the Level 5 backdrop. Real classy like.

Second – King looks like he’s really desperate for the bog.

Third – he says he’s not trying to drive out Ashley. Much like a deer doesn’t try to chase a tiger away from the pond!

  5. The thickness of the hun knows no bounds, now they have 5 loans from Newcastle the stupid ones fancy another go at the hoops in the scottish if we both get through but only at ibrokes lol we could play them on the moon with there 500,000,000 supporters watching and still beat them. HH

  6. Really surprised that hearts , hibs , Falkirk , QOTS And turnbull huttons raith rovers , are taking the Newcastle loanees to thems so lightly , if they aren’t too bothered , then they deserve what they get . God the game up here is beyond saving . Everything and every club will be undermined ,rules altered to accommodate they’re rise to the top of scottish football . As I stated a couple of years ago , it’s no good them just being back in the spl they need the European money .that is the goal for them from the Blazers at Hampden , to the lowest brown nose in the media . And it’s all going to plan . Unbelievable what’s went on at HQ . Even more unbelievable it’s been allowed to go unchallenged . Miss the celtic , but glad I’m out it .

Norseman lager. Yellow card for reminding me of that one. Some of the stuff that came out of Alloa like Jaguar lager was pretty dire stuff also. And I think there was one lager that they gave a German sounding name that was like nothing made in Deutschland.

Couldnt agree more, no-one officially has said a word about this. When was the last time anyone had 5 loan signings from the one team.? It’s up to the rest of them to do something about it, either that or just roll over to them, but I dont want to hear them complaining retrospectively.

Dave King outlines the future for Sevco, speaks of the interests of transparency and vows that nothing will be swept under the carpet. The task, he says, will be similar to that of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission in South Africa.

Judge Southwood:“We saw King testify in chief and in cross-examination for four days and are unanimous in finding that he is a mendacious witness whose evidence should not be accepted on any issue unless it is supported by documents or other objective evidence.

It was remarkable that King showed no sign of embarrassment or any emotion when he conceded that he had lied to the Commissioner in a number of his income tax returns.

In our assessment he is a glib and shameless liar….As his evidence progressed it became clear that he has no respect for the truth and does not hesitate to lie”

Can’t think of a better man to head up the Commission.

  11. Ushers must have been the worst beer ever.when I was a young man one of the many pubs I drank along Dalmarnock Rd the best pint of light beer was in the Strathie Pub.ran by 2 brothers.a mans shop never ever seen a woman in it.Vic Davidson s father was a regular.just along from it was the Half Moon Pub.owned by John Travers.few priests from Sacred Heart

Used to do a bit of bevving in there.along with Dr Prior.and of course john the owner who was known to take a good drink.ah the old days were the great days.

  12. Apparently Jackie Mac Snr has spoken out about the loans from Newcastle to The Rangers. Good man. It only takes one to start the ball rolling.

I think when Mick Ashley was a bairn he enjoyed pullin’ the legs off flies.

    One at a time.

  14. Paul, on your cancer comments, the news reported this morning was that 1 in 3 (33%) people born in 1930 were expected to get cancer at some point in their lives. That ratio had increased to 1 in 2 (50%) for people born in 1960, and the percentage is expected to rise further for later generations of the population.

You say “The preventative message still needs to get through to a great many in the developing world, before it’s too late.”

However, even in the “developed” world the message doesn’t seem to be getting through to the populace, in spite of the fact that the 1 in 2 figure means that on average one half of every couple will develop some form of cancer… which, by extension, means that almost everybody alive will either get cancer themselves, or have to live with a spouse afflicted by this horrible disease.

Until we all get the message that we cannot continue to smoke, over-indulge in the consumption of alcohol, and eat a diet far too high in junk and highly processed foods, the situation will not improve.

I’m away back to my work now to take my mind off this depressing thought…!

Skol was terrible but it was not the one I was thinking of. Actually it might have been something that was in pubs in the South East of England ( which I visited far more often in the late 70s and early 80s than I do now). Terrible stuff. Made Tennents seem like nectar. and Schlitz made Tennents seem like, well, Tennents. ( Unless you got Georgina Kearney- Miss Wishaw) on the tin

  23. Ushers pale ale . God that’s a blast from the past. I remember when we started our supporters club in the village in the early 60s . (Still going strong ) we adopted a pub in the village that was sympathetic to the bhoys , it also had Norseman lager for a wee while , but to be honest , it was a challenge , not to move on to another boozer , and a decent pint .
