Ashley could fulfil Tarantino vision

948

Did Dave King honestly say there would be a “forensic investigation” before newco, under his control, would repay Mike Ashley’s £10m loan?  This, before the second tranche of the loan, which the club will need to meet payroll, is paid, and while Ashley could acquire an array of property and IP assets by simply not transferring the money when expected.

Unnecessarily provoking the source of short-term finance your club is dependent on is a bizarre tactic.

If it is indeed “the end” for the current newco board, as King promises, said board have a matter of weeks to secure whatever assets they can for those who have previously invested in the club and provided loans.

The crux of King’s comments are reported as:

“Would we pay [Ashley] immediately, I don’t think so no. We would complete a forensic investigation.

“If David Somers’ indication is correct that there has been some malfeasance then it is possible that the club would have a claim then I would attach the money and make a claim.

“If any individuals behaved improperly then it is important that they are held accountable.”

There’s a scene in Pulp Fiction when an unfortunate predator, “Z”, is informed that some African Americans are about to “Get medieval on his ass”.  We don’t get to see what this means but stay tuned, between now and the EGM, Mike Ashley might just provide a demonstration of what Tarantino had in mind.

Remember, Ashley is not at Ibrox because he fancies being the next David Murray.  He is not interested in the godforsaken world of having to run a football club in Glasgow, he’s happy to allow others to carry this burden.

He may well allow King to ‘win’ the EGM, but the spoils of victory will be very much on his terms.  Trying hard not to imagine Paul Murray in a leather mask now.

Today is World Cancer Day.  This disease has taken too many from the blog already, not to mention millions across the globe.  There is a lot of good news, though.  Progress is being made, but many in the developing world need access to simple preventative treatments, methodologies and information.

The preventative message still needs to get through to a great many in the developing world, before it’s too late.  Here’s a video outlining where the battle is at the moment:

  1. I wonder if Glen Gibbons would have been offended by the monkey jibes or indeed the Primate of all Ireland for that matter.

He did, but, unfortunately, he submitted it through the SFA’s registration process, as he is a registered player with the SFA.

Due to an administration problem, the paper wasn’t processed in time to beat the Uni’s deadline.

He now won’t be able to re submit it until the June window opens.

    PS

He never had this problem at Utd.

I hadn’t seen him for a few years until one evening I was out having a jar and I spotted him in with a few Obs pals, having a quick one after their shift.

Must have been about three years ago, as it was just before all the dirt was about to come out, and despite having had quite a few I managed to resist the temptation to dander over and explain just what was about to happen to his wee team.

    But it was a struggle.

Regarding Kris C I am really glad that he is here for the rest of the season as I think in what could still be a tricky run in he has got a lot to offer domestically at least. I liked Michael Stewart as a summariser on Sunday but I am a bit fed up with him and others saying how they cannot understand how KC has not been getting his game every week. He has played quite a lot even before the New Year and was badly out of form a lot of that time. I saw him in Zagreb and although he scored he was off the pace ( slightly different thing from being slow- King Kenny and Pat Crerand were not exactly Usain Bolt class when it came to speed) and his touch was awful, He looked finished and I could totally understand why Ronny did not have him as an inked in selection every week.

Great player for Celtic considering what we paid for him- more goals than Lubo or Naka put together and probably more than either Maloney or McGeady- but I am not sure if he has two more years left in him.. I hope so though

I agree to some extent that the troglodytes get perhaps more coverage on here than they deserve.

However…….and it’s a big however………we cannot afford to be blindsided by the machinations that are going on in the netherworld. We have seen enough already to know that there are moves afoot to get them back to the top ,i.e. the very top………..above Celtic fc.

They have the utmost complicity of those running the game. We cannot afford to take our eye off the ball.

LOL, great film, nice image. Just before that Bruce Willis is looking through the shop trying out a baseball bat, a chainsaw and eventually taking a sword I think. I assume that is where we think Ashley is just now, picking the best weapon for the job?

Despite being as guilty as the next CQNer in revelling daily in the more of Sevco, I 100% applaud your call to refocus on Celtic.

I often wonder how many posters are actively working on behalf of our Board to create this obsession as a distraction that effectively allows our Board ( and Lawwell in particular) to go completely without any form of scrutiny.

Lawwell in particular loves the Sevco obsession so he can progress his own ambition ( to get richer while the club gets poorer)…

I’m getting to the stage where my memory can be – what’s the word – fallible, so please indulge me. Surely the record for the number of loan players was set by Sevco, playing their first game against Brechin that time? The full starting line up, plus substitutes, were on loan from Rangers, iirc. And one of the Charlotte incarnations published the loan documentation. Perhaps someone should write to a ‘Fitba’ Q&A’ type forum and ask if this constitutes a world record. They’d be sure to publish.

What are the rules about loans ????

    Does anyone know ???

It’s pointless having a go at the championship clubs if having 5 loanees from one club is in the rules,

Just because it’s never happened before doesn’t make it wrong.

It has been a busy few days for the chaps in the Light Blue corner.

Mr David Cunningham King did not expect to be in the UK as early as this or to have to attend meetings.

However he did do just that.

He had expected his local fixer Paul Murray to put everything in place and to that end Mr George Letham and Mr Paul Murray recently met with Laxey Partners.

The Isle of Man registered hedge fund no longer has any skin in the Sevco game, but they do have information.

Sources close to that meeting tell me that Philip Tudor Nash sat in on it with Letham and Murray.

The ex-RIFC Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary brought them up to speed to the best of his knowledge.

I understand that Letham and Murray then met with the remaining Institutional Investors.

In fairness the consensus from these meetings is that these Rangersness chaps are carrying out their due diligence to the best of their abilities.

It is fair to say that the King group now know pretty much everything there is to know about the state of RIFC/TRFC right up to the point where Nash left and the Ashley regime began in earnest.

One interesting vignette from one of those meetings was that the City chaps did not think that Mr Letham and Mr Murray had full confidence in Mr King.

However they could just be reading the body language wrong, so I wouldn’t’ necessarily put much store by that.

The Institutional Investors put it to Paul Murray that his inclusion as a prospective board member for RIFC caused problems.

The Square Mile chaps cut to the chase and put it to Murray and Letham that their whole marketing strategy was predicated upon the assertion that RIFC/TRFC was Rangers (1872).

Sources inform me that Mr George Letham admitted that Sevco (he did not use that word) was a new entity, but as a supporter for him it was a team in light blue playing at Ibrox.

In that case, he was told, Mr Murray could not be involved.

I understand that Mr David Cunningham King was not as these meetings, but did meet with the same Square Mile chaps on his own later.

During their meetings Letham and Murray were asked about the ‘fit and proper’ issues apropos King.

At the presser today the South African based entrepreneur stated that it was not a question of “driving Mike Ashley out”.

That’s just as well, because he simply cannot.

The Sports Direct magnate is increasing his control of Sevco with each passing day.

By the time that the EGM happens then Big Mike’s power at Sevco might well be unassailable.

    That is certainly his plan.

Do not be surprised is the Sports Direct heavyweight lands a knock out blow.

  18. Got my copy of that Sunday Herald through the post today, and well pleased with the advert and the purpose and sentiment.

The advert is very appropriate when the football news in Scotland continues to be dominated by efforts to rewrite history, airbrush out anything that is ‘off message’, and to leverage the Sevco carcass into a position of dominance in Scottish football.

I don’t get UK tv here, so access to King’s words is via online.

    From BBC today, King says

“The vision for me, as a fan, is to see the Rangers that I know – the nine-in-a-row Rangers that we saw and were a dominant club in Scotland.”

If I understand him correctly, that would be the club that has died; the club that stiffed creditors to the tune of 130 million quid; the club that used secret and double contracts to sign players contrary to the SFA requirement; the club that did all this using borrowed money that was never paid back; the club that denied other Scottish clubs legitimate trophies by cheating; the club of which he was a director during the period of fiscal malfeasance that led to it’s liquidation.

Any doubters about the advert that told the truth – just look at that mess and what the spin is today.
