Astana, Hedge Funds, Longmuir to Newco

1274

After full time on Saturday Celtic fly east to play Shakhter Karagandy in Kazakhstan, which is five hours ahead of UK time, but fortunately kick off on Tuesday is 9pm local time, 4pm in the UK, so the team will not have to adjust body clocks.  Such a long flight immediately after a game is not without risk, though.

Muscles need to stretch and move freely after exertion.  Players will need an exercise routine for the plane to mitigate the risk of the kind of strain injuries we see so often.  Get a schedule for them to walk up and down the plane every hour.

I expect Celtic will have a scout at the Astana Arena for Friday’s game between Astana and Shakhter Karagandy but it might not be too revealing.  The Shakhter coach and first team squad didn’t even attend the game prior to their last Champions League qualifier against Albanians, Korce.  They were locked away in preparation as the second team were deployed for the league game.

It’s back to the Astana Arena, with its plastic pitch and closable roof, which is 135 miles from Karagandy, for the visit of Celtic, who will be hoping the pitch is a better standard than the one they played on in Sweden last week.  Neil Lennon could perhaps put a call into his former team-mate, Aiden McGeady, who played on the surface for Ireland 11 months ago (Ireland won the World Cup qualifier after being a goal down with a minute of normal time left).

Longmuir to Rangers International

It was a clear five months ago we ran the story, Longmuir and the Newco job, saying “Speculation that Mr Longmuir is taking care of current business until he is ready to move to Newco is becoming hard to ignore”.  Back then CQN suggested that if Longmuir “loses his ability to be a dealmaker” there might not be much he could offer such a high-flying football team.

If the SPFL are surprised, they shouldn’t be. Anything other information Mr Doncaster wants I’ll be happy to help.

The March article linked above also speculates that Newco could go into administration this season, lose players and suffer a points penalty, resulting in relegation. Don’t know how I missed the target so badly with that one……

Charlotte Fakes revelations from last night will have been news to no one here, but they will embarrass more than a few elsewhere.  What the Scottish football authorities must now consider are actions, and guidance and advice to Scottish Football League clubs during the last year.

“Have we actually offered him a job”?  There’s one chief exec who is delivering £500k of comedy value per annum. Here’s a phrase which might come in helpful soon, “It’s too late, we’ve no money, you can’t deliver what we wanted and you’re useless”.

Has anyone suggested that being owned by a Hedge Fund is like a new signing?  Positions are being adopted for the bun fight ahead.  It will not be pretty.

Have you signed up for the 1254125 Great Scottish Run yet?  For serious runners there is a 10k or Half Marathon to choose from, but there are shorter distances, from 1 mile, for the less-athletic and for kids.  With the soul of our game being chased by so many unappealing influences this is a great way to anchor Celtic back where the story started.

Get involved, guidance tips here.

Anyone else who presents a Daily Record transfer story to me as fact is getting a right dirty look.

  3. I’m sorry if you find this post out of topic but I made another post in the morning and after the situation has changed I needed to write an explanation.

I told earlier today that Legia Warsaw was fined by UEFA. Disciplinary body decided that one of four stands ( with Ultras) will be closed for the play off game against Steaua Bucarest. Media reported that this decision was the consequence of the flares lit at the game in II qualification CL round against The New Saints in Wrexam. I thought that the news could be interesting for you in terms of discussion about Green Brigade.

Later, like many Legia supporters I was reading twitter, internet comments, trying to find out what the journalists knew about UEFA decision, what were their comments?

Most of the comments were :shock, very harsh decision.

After few hours, Polish media reported about report on UEFA website, telling that Ultras stand must be closed under Article 14* of the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations (DR) on racism, other discriminatory conduct and propaganda, in relation to incidents in Legia’s encounters with TNS on 17 and 24 July.

    http://www.uefa.com/uefa/disciplinary/news/newsid=1980950.html

The news on the UEFA website was huge shock to everybody. Nobody in here knew what UEFA meant and what wrong they found in Wrexam?

After another two hours and journalists’ investigation inside UEFA, it was reported that Legia was accused due to Article 14 – Racism, other discriminatory conduct and propaganda.

This is why UEFA found us guilty?

It’s “Wild Boys” flag that somebody found wrong and accused us of “Racism, other discriminatory conduct and propaganda”

It’s an 20 years old flag that has always been with Legia fans, on league games and in Europe. UEFA delegates never said that they have not accepted it and banned. This year, Legia played four games in Europe and all flags were shown to UEFA before each game and there was nothing in the reports about wrong flag(s).

Quite contrary, UEFA delegates gave top marks to Legia supporters, except accidents with flares.

It was my pleasure to read nice comments about Legia supporters in British media after the game in Wrexam. TNS manager told at the conference that Legia fans gave unforgettable lessons in Wrexam and Warsaw about supporting the team.

As Legia supporter who attended the games since 1984 I can say that I remember Legia hooligans, pitch invaders but never ever read about or seen signs of racism. I don’t remember since when we have black players at the club. Never ever Legia or opponents player been the victim of racism at my club.

When all the news came out, our President told:

“I’m in big shock, I can’t believe this is happening”

“We will not let it go”

“I’m the lawyer who knows UEFA regulations but I have never thought I will not know what to do next?”

Anyroadup, I honestly only rated Vic out the 3, I also think had other player who left been given the same opportunities the other two had would have done just as well.

“How about any decisions made by any Scottish football institutions that he was chief executive for should now be rescinded in light of this obvious conflict of interest. For starters.”

The only ‘institution’ Longmuir was part of was the Scottish Football League.

Celtic were not part of that body as we were in the SPL – what happened in the SFL has nothing to do with Celtic.
