After full time on Saturday Celtic fly east to play Shakhter Karagandy in Kazakhstan, which is five hours ahead of UK time, but fortunately kick off on Tuesday is 9pm local time, 4pm in the UK, so the team will not have to adjust body clocks. Such a long flight immediately after a game is not without risk, though.
Muscles need to stretch and move freely after exertion. Players will need an exercise routine for the plane to mitigate the risk of the kind of strain injuries we see so often. Get a schedule for them to walk up and down the plane every hour.
I expect Celtic will have a scout at the Astana Arena for Friday’s game between Astana and Shakhter Karagandy but it might not be too revealing. The Shakhter coach and first team squad didn’t even attend the game prior to their last Champions League qualifier against Albanians, Korce. They were locked away in preparation as the second team were deployed for the league game.
It’s back to the Astana Arena, with its plastic pitch and closable roof, which is 135 miles from Karagandy, for the visit of Celtic, who will be hoping the pitch is a better standard than the one they played on in Sweden last week. It’s clear that the clubs strategy has no clear focus on the development of youth players. We have the pick of the best lads in Scotland and invest more money than anybody. But on the other hand, we like to pick up young foreign lads like Wanyama or Crosas and give them a chance.
Forrest has been the only noticeable graduate to have nailed down a first-team place since McGeady (made his debut in the 03/04 season)
This is most likely because Lennon was the development team coach before first-team manager. He had worked closely with Forrest and simply brought him with him when stepping up. Other lads don’t have this opportunity.
Personally, I’m not a massive fan of Forrest as I don’t believe his crossing or shooting are good enough and he often gives the ball away. If he wasn’t one of the coaches favourites, he wouldn’t get a game.
I think we will continue to see 2 or 3 ex-Celtic youth’s playing against us every week in the SPL.

Paul 67, not sure if I remember you writing an article on the subject before, but what do you make of the action/inaction of our club when it comes to the corruption that exists within the SFA or thems or the former thems. It has been discussed on here in quite a bit. Just feeling that if we are going to debate it then we should have a proper article to start it off.
I am of the mindset that we need other clubs to step forward and raise the questions first as we will not then have the nothing to see here Timmy sh*te thrown at us as is usually the case.
The fact that someone who could potentially be under investigation for misappropriation of funds could be hired by the Sevconian Football Club (SFC) bothers me not a bit, but if he cheated money from the SFL he should be exposed and charged appropriately. I do believe it is the duty of member clubs within the former SFL to pursue this and not CFC. Hopefully Mr. Hutton is all over this.
