At least one club will be supported through and through

1118

I can’t tell you how many statements I’ve read from those trying to bring down Newco Rangers (bonne chance) but not one comes near to approaching the key question: what can they offer the the men and women who own shares in Newco to convince them to accommodate their future aspirations?

Threats, intimidation and blackmail are all possible incentives, but no one has actually put a case forward which would compensate the investment made by the shareholders who, let’s remember, own all club assets.

An enormous assumption appears to have been made that hedge funds and various Easdales will capitulate and simply walk away and sign their paid-for assets over to a group who are regularly abusive towards them.  It’s like 2012 all over again, when parts of the world assumed HMRC would capitulate and agree to a CVA for Oldco, despite all genuine evidence (i.e. published policy) indicating otherwise.

Game Theorists would have a ball with this scenario.  Shareholders are being offered a choice, hand over your assets to a hostile opponent or attempt to continue with a vastly reduced business.  The former option should not be taken seriously.

Question is, where does this particular game end?  It’ll not be in an outcome satisfactory to many of those dreaming of ‘competing with Celtic’ anytime soon.

This mind-set should be familiar.  It’s the same one which blamed Celtic, or small-minded small clubs, the SPL and/or SFA, blamed anyone, in fact, apart from those who endorsed years of overspend at Rangers, for their eventual demise.

Walking headlong into unsustainable debt is no different than walking headlong into a conflict with hedge funds who would sell your valued acre for landfill rather than be held to ransom.

I’ll renew my season tickets tonight (still annoyed I didn’t do so in time for the free ticket draw).  Whatever happens in the wider scheme of Scottish football, one club will be supported ‘through and through’.

They’ve got a 50-50 chance of surviving. But there’s only a 10% chance of that.

I said the lesson is bigger than the question would suggest. Not many survived the tragedy of war and Holocaust. Those who survived had to leave Poland in 1956 or before because the Communists told them to go home. Not many Jewish people live in Warsaw now. This might be few thousands maximum. Very tragic.

Does anyone know if all the staff at Newco who allededly Tuped over have their lenght of service protected? I’m hearing a 45 day redundancy consultation period will start next week and non playing staff to be reduced by 30%.

Rather than all this acrimony over who’s renewing and who’s not, why not let’s all just be a wee but more tolerant of others views and reasons for their actions?

Yes, their service is carried over from the liquidated club to the new one. That is the good news.

The bad news is how little the statutory redundancy payment is.The maximum amount of statutory redundancy pay is £13,500 (and that includes Sally). There is no chance it will be more than statutory unless key individuals have some dirt they can spill.

National Side – At Felipão’s press conference this morning he said that his selection for the 23man WC squad, to be announced 7th May, is now 95-99% certain. Eight “definite” names he said would be Julio César, Paulinho, Thiago Silva, Fred and the Chelsea quartet of – David Luiz, Ramires, Oscar and Willian.

Atletico MG – Fresh from their defeat last night, their first in the Libertadores for two years. Holders, America-MG announced the deprature of manager, Paulo Arturi. Maybe the fact that they’ve now failed to score in their last four games had something to do with it?

The Hotel JP, Riberão Preto, SP – Is where the French national side will be staying during the WC. Apparently the hotel has been asked by the FFF to install liquid soap dispensers in all en-suite facilities, as they are not used to using bars of soap (No, I’m not making this up).

  23. King and those who will follow him by paying their money into his “trust” fund should go form their own club.

The old club died so Charles Green set up the new Rangers – as Walter Smith called them – and supporters and institutions invested in that new club. It may now have run out of money but it has completed two league seasons in the lower leagues and won the title on each occasion. It would have been practically impossible – even with Celtic’s erratic cup form for them to win one of the major cups so their only real failing has been in the Ramsdens Cup, where they lost out on both occasions to clubs from a higher division.

Any money “invested” in the new club by its tuped over support is likely to be lost.

New Rangers have no good options. By pretending to be the old club has achieved nothing but has dramatically altered supporters’ expectations – forcing the money to be sent on a pay packet squad of mercenaries and an overpaid manager who somehow manages to protect himself from serious flak while drawing £17,000 a week from a start up business.

New Rangers need to run things the way they see fit and their “customers” can choose to stay “loyal” or do the old walking away. The time is right for these malcontents to form their own club with their own money, investors, a King to follow and three of four blogs jam packed with bigots to do their raging.

I know some Rangers fans who never bought into the same club argument. Professional people, they couldn’t support this lie and did indeed walk away. There are other Rangers fans who would return to a genuinely New Rangers – one that has shed the shameful heritage and accepts it place in Scottish football as First Division champions hoping to develop towards being in the top tier the season after next.

Let the past go. Let loose the bigots. Drop the same club lie (which no-one except the bigots who shout the loudest, believes) and become a modern football club. Build it up properly. Realise that by pretending to be Rangers (1872) you have squandered tens of millions of pounds – money you would still have if it wasn’t for the lie. This genuinely new Rangers would get my respect.
