I can’t tell you how many statements I’ve read from those trying to bring down Newco Rangers (bonne chance) but not one comes near to approaching the key question: what can they offer the the men and women who own shares in Newco to convince them to accommodate their future aspirations?
Threats, intimidation and blackmail are all possible incentives, but no one has actually put a case forward which would compensate the investment made by the shareholders who, let’s remember, own all club assets.
An enormous assumption appears to have been made that hedge funds and various Easdales will capitulate and simply walk away and sign their paid-for assets over to a group who are regularly abusive towards them. It’s like 2012 all over again, when parts of the world assumed HMRC would capitulate and agree to a CVA for Oldco, despite all genuine evidence (i.e. published policy) indicating otherwise.
Game Theorists would have a ball with this scenario. Shareholders are being offered a choice, hand over your assets to a hostile opponent or attempt to continue with a vastly reduced business. The former option should not be taken seriously.
Question is, where does this particular game end? It’ll not be in an outcome satisfactory to many of those dreaming of ‘competing with Celtic’ anytime soon.
This mind-set should be familiar. It’s the same one which blamed Celtic, or small-minded small clubs, the SPL and/or SFA, blamed anyone, in fact, apart from those who endorsed years of overspend at Rangers, for their eventual demise.
Walking headlong into unsustainable debt is no different than walking headlong into a conflict with hedge funds who would sell your valued acre for landfill rather than be held to ransom.
I’ll renew my season tickets tonight (still annoyed I didn’t do so in time for the free ticket draw). Whatever happens in the wider scheme of Scottish football, one club will be supported ‘through and through’.

You’re right, and today it was major shareholder Sandy Easdale’s turn.

I find it funny that folk find some sort of self right in criticising predictions from the likes of Paul and Phil even the efforts of Auldheid etc. I find it pompous and ungrateful. Moreover, is it down to an insecurity on placing too much trust in any written word? I trust Paul and Phil, Auldheid et al more than I trust Keith Jackson or his like. The fact that only Phil makes a living from his reportage makes this even more important.
Also, Phil makes predictions based on the facts he gathers and has got it wrong in the past but god almighty it’s not as though he is saying literally put your mortgage on 2 pm on Friday the 25th.
Read the stuff and enjoy it put a combination of strikes together and come up with your own thoughts.

…….really loved WGS point blank refusal to answer Chico’s questions on shortbread yesterday looking for him to opine on Davie Moyes. Straight bat. Right in his ‘I’m a Buddy, honest’ gob!
RIP Sandy Jardine. Not my kinda guy but…

The Wee Man’s never short of a one- liner. Also has the ability to laugh at himself, as his ‘celebration’ when scoring against West Germany,as it was then, at the ’86 WC in Mexico showed. Great quality to have.

Sandy Jardine may have been a horrible hun and a total fudo of a man but I sympathise with anyone who loses a family member to the indescriminate bastard disease cancer.
A husband, a father and a son.
RIP Sandy Jardine.

Eh ?
They are journalists mate. What are you on about ?
We should be thankful they are not Keith Jackson
When you continually read innaccurate one sided journalism. Your not allowed to remark on it ? Like its lazy or biased ? Economical with the truth ?
I think you need to strongly believe in a rigid faith system to expect consumers. Yes consumers …it is Scottish footballs problem. Celtic journalists too…to behave in that manner.
The good thing about not believing in a deity is the thought of; ex communication or purgatory is meaningless.

I never joke when it comes to death mate, one of us or one of them it makes no difference, sad news RIP
Sorry to read of anyone losing their life to this terrible disease. RIP Sandy Jardine, and condolences to your family.

When growing up in a family that takes it’s football seriously you reach an age when you start to appreciate certain players in different positions and the role they play for their team. I used to idolise Danny McGrain when he was playing for Celtic and Scotland.
I was as much a Scotland supporter in those early years as I was a Celtic fan and used to love going to Hampden to watch Scotland in the home international games. It was at this time that I first became aware of Sandy Jardine, I thought then that he was a great player and cheered for him as much as any player who played in the blue of Scotland.
I wont pretend that I still have the same regard for him but I will fondly remember my innocence as a boy idolising a man that represented my country with distinction.
RIP Sandy Jardine
Sad to hear that Sandy Jardine has lost his battle against that horrible disease.

Nothing….and are puppets like Keith Jackson. The Old Firm feeds you. You cannot bite that hand.
I remember Celtic fans loving Gerry McNee and Hugh Keevins….even Britney for goodness sake.
Both have been completely neutered since the 5 way agreement.
Nmmmhhhh I wonder why ?
One thing is for sure. My specukation stands up to any alternative speculation.
And sticks and stones etc seems to have some currency still in Scotland. Water ducks backsides etc.

Just been having a wee scroll through Twitter and had a look at Paul the Tim’s tweets in relation to the picture of his mum handing a Celtic jersey with Pope Francis on the back.
A Sun journalist has obviously tried to contact him with a story in mind. The bold Paul’s reply,
“Sorry don’t do the Sun”
He’s also replied to other requests saying that he’d only give the story to the Celtic View.
Take a bow son.

Your post on the issue of the decline in the Jewish population of Poland was selective.
There is, and always has been, a problem of Antisemitism in Poland and throughout eastern Europe.
It predates the Nazis and post dates the ‘Communists’.
I appreciate that you find that aspect of your country’s life unpleasant, but that doesn’t mean you should ignore it.
My post wasn’t an attack on you. It was intended to highlight aspects of the issue which you chose not to mention.
The fact that you responded with such an ill tempered rant suggests I touched a raw nerve.
