At least one club will be supported through and through

1118

I can’t tell you how many statements I’ve read from those trying to bring down Newco Rangers (bonne chance) but not one comes near to approaching the key question: what can they offer the the men and women who own shares in Newco to convince them to accommodate their future aspirations?

Threats, intimidation and blackmail are all possible incentives, but no one has actually put a case forward which would compensate the investment made by the shareholders who, let’s remember, own all club assets.

An enormous assumption appears to have been made that hedge funds and various Easdales will capitulate and simply walk away and sign their paid-for assets over to a group who are regularly abusive towards them.  It’s like 2012 all over again, when parts of the world assumed HMRC would capitulate and agree to a CVA for Oldco, despite all genuine evidence (i.e. published policy) indicating otherwise.

Game Theorists would have a ball with this scenario.  Shareholders are being offered a choice, hand over your assets to a hostile opponent or attempt to continue with a vastly reduced business.  The former option should not be taken seriously.

Question is, where does this particular game end?  It’ll not be in an outcome satisfactory to many of those dreaming of ‘competing with Celtic’ anytime soon.

This mind-set should be familiar.  It’s the same one which blamed Celtic, or small-minded small clubs, the SPL and/or SFA, blamed anyone, in fact, apart from those who endorsed years of overspend at Rangers, for their eventual demise.

Walking headlong into unsustainable debt is no different than walking headlong into a conflict with hedge funds who would sell your valued acre for landfill rather than be held to ransom.

I’ll renew my season tickets tonight (still annoyed I didn’t do so in time for the free ticket draw).  Whatever happens in the wider scheme of Scottish football, one club will be supported ‘through and through’.

Anybody else remember the “not the nine o’clock news” sketch, with the 2 opposing politicians on a chat show, tearing into one another, then one of them dies…….

Anyway off to bed, early start at work 2moro…..then a couple of ST renewals to take care of.

  3. “Sandy Jardine was such a class performer, he kept Danny McGrian – recognised as a world class full back- out of the right back berth in the Scotland team, forcing him to move to left back.”

Thus goes the view of one poster on the McMurdo bigotfest from a while back. Just goes to show that ignorance is bliss………… The Huns and reality, eh?

Anyway, found myself sad to hear of the passing of Sandy Jardine this evening. As always, sympathies extend to his Family.

  4. There are a few players from the wrong side of the divide that I grudgingly admired.

Willie Henderson, Ian McMillan, Jim Baxter and Sandy Jardine.

A good full back and good servant, Sandy was not in the same class as Danny McGrain or even John Brownlie the Hibs full back.

Rest in peace and God spare the rest of us from the ravages of cancer.

    Indeed,mate.

  6. It has just been reported on Aussie radio news that “Scottish club Rangers are in danger of going into administration for a second time and the CEO admitted that the club would be unlikely to survive such an event.”

    It must be serious.

Possibly the best full-back combination available at that time would have been Danny at right-back and Erich Schaedler at left-back.

Schaedler only received one cap. Best left-back in Scotland too.

“There have been many great names associated with Rangers Football Club in our 142 year history and Sandy is a Rangers legend in every sense of the word,” said McCoist.

My brother Tony misses the games against them as well as the competition they used to give us in the league. Me, well I don’t as I am now more relaxed with life and rarely now does my blood pressure cause my doctor any concern.

I do realise the importance of competition in a league and if I’m totally honest this years title win didn’t give me the satisfaction of previous league title succeses. Does this mean I want them back? No, never do I want them back and they can’t come back as they were liquidated but if we’re really honest with ourselves we know, deep down that we now regard the new club that plays out of Ibroke as our true rivals.

Read back on this very blog and see the joy in the posts from many posters when New club were beaten in the recent Ramsden cup finale.

If we don’t see them as a continuation of the old bigoted club then why were we all so happy to see a new club get beat?

I don’t know what the future holds for them, I hope it’s more pain and misery as they deserve it for the cheating and squandering of tax payers money for over 20 years.

If this new club do have an insolvency event then I pray that true football fans among their support come forward and take control and reject the bigoted past and start afresh with a mission statement that reflects modern society.

If this were to happen I would welcome this new club and relish the challenge they would one day, in the future, give us.

    Evening Folks,

Just logged on having been away from the blog of a couple of days to learn of the death of Sandy Jardine.

Last week I had dinner with a Celtic supporting friend of Mr Jardine’s who made me aware that he was seriously ill and that he didn’t expect him to last long.

As someone who has recently lost a close relative to cancer I can only say that it is events like this which really put footballing rivalry in to perspective.

There will be grown children, grandchildren and a widow tonight who will have had some time to come to terms with the inevitable, and while that may well have given them time to say their goodbyes and expressed their love, tonight and the coming weeks will be hard for them.

I wish them and all Sandy Jardine’s friends every good wish and sympathy tonight, may he rest in peace.

That’s it decided, I am phoning in sick to work as I am sure I will have a stomach bug that day. I have miraculous powers of recovery and expect to to well enough to go for a stroll round the Gallowgate by mid afternoon, I will have to stop at various establishments though as I will be dehydrated and in need of liquid refreshments.

Why was Easdale giving an interview to the BBC anyway, I thought they’d banned them?

When they think they might be asked difficult question then yes – the BBC are “banned”. However, when the hun hoards need their expectations managed ahead of catastrophic news (say, for example, a review of the business affairs of the klumpany) then the BBC are the shitpipe of choice that delivery the effluent.

I admire your sentiments, absolutely spot on, but I doubt if the true blues have an ounce of your integrity, always remenber, this lot are;- ra peeple! They will never change. It is this constant battle cry, WATP, which is their downfall.

  24. Someone posted last week that an administration event at ibrokes on Monday and coming out via a CVA by the beginning of the following week would see points deducted from this season but not next season. Thus allowing Sevco to still retain the third tier championship whilst starting anew in the second tier with no points deduction.
