At least one club will be supported through and through

1118

I can’t tell you how many statements I’ve read from those trying to bring down Newco Rangers (bonne chance) but not one comes near to approaching the key question: what can they offer the the men and women who own shares in Newco to convince them to accommodate their future aspirations?

Threats, intimidation and blackmail are all possible incentives, but no one has actually put a case forward which would compensate the investment made by the shareholders who, let’s remember, own all club assets.

An enormous assumption appears to have been made that hedge funds and various Easdales will capitulate and simply walk away and sign their paid-for assets over to a group who are regularly abusive towards them.  It’s like 2012 all over again, when parts of the world assumed HMRC would capitulate and agree to a CVA for Oldco, despite all genuine evidence (i.e. published policy) indicating otherwise.

Game Theorists would have a ball with this scenario.  Shareholders are being offered a choice, hand over your assets to a hostile opponent or attempt to continue with a vastly reduced business.  The former option should not be taken seriously.

Question is, where does this particular game end?  It’ll not be in an outcome satisfactory to many of those dreaming of ‘competing with Celtic’ anytime soon.

This mind-set should be familiar.  It’s the same one which blamed Celtic, or small-minded small clubs, the SPL and/or SFA, blamed anyone, in fact, apart from those who endorsed years of overspend at Rangers, for their eventual demise.

Walking headlong into unsustainable debt is no different than walking headlong into a conflict with hedge funds who would sell your valued acre for landfill rather than be held to ransom.

I’ll renew my season tickets tonight (still annoyed I didn’t do so in time for the free ticket draw).  Whatever happens in the wider scheme of Scottish football, one club will be supported ‘through and through’.

  1. Can’t believe Christmas has turned up so soon after Easter.

    Good Friday 2 is tomorrow.

One of 2 things have a very positive chance of ocurring:

    1) the zombies will be dragged back intot he grave, officially.

    2) The Whispering Connery Tribute Act will take the walk of shame, conveniently for him blaming all on the budget/board/boogie/Neil Lennon…

Oh, happy schadenfreude days. Well worth the decades of waiting.

We’ll have no trouble in there anyway but I understand why we can’t just post the venue name on here. My better half is working night-shift on the Friday. So I will be out-of-control.

  24. Ernie Lynch ( Ernesto Che Guevarra Lynch) at 20:26

First of all, I think I asked you at least two times on different occasion to scroll past my comments and ignore them. If I said a lie, Okay you could prove that I’m the liar, said something that puts you or yours in bad light. My polite request would not count in that case. Can’t see the gentleman doing otherwise on occasion like after my post of today. Your person probably shows how big difference is between the gentleman and the Communist, and that second example for this is that difference between Zenith and Nadir.

You again start your private war against me because I said something about the Communists that does not suit your agenda. “Go home, Jews” in 1956 was the Communists motto and that was why those who survived Holocaust left Poland before or after 1956. This is not my view, this is fact. If you don’t know this, go and learn.

Here is my ling for you that shows the level of anti-Semitism in Poland. The results differ much from those from your article. http://wyborcza.pl/1,75478,14636649,Polacy_antysemici__Ilu_ich_jest_.html

I think I read EU statistics where Poland was in the middle of the table, and France was top of it.

Ah, Ernie Lynch, you were so quick with your private war against me again. You posted link that had nothing to do with my conversation with the other posters.

My third polite request. Can’t you ignore my posts? Thanks God you have keyboard not the gun. Your bitter character shows you have chosen good nickname. Would you hesitate to pull the trigger to eliminate the boy who stolen piece of bread. Did you read that story?

  25. winning captains – I was surprised by you last post – a kind of “let bgones be bygones”.

    You are way too kind.

They have won two successive leagues, yes.

However, they have massively overspent compared with the well-run clubs in each of those leagues.

Overspent money they don’t have – remind you of anything?

In fact, they shouldn’t even have been in the leagues in the first place…

As for losing the bigot section of their support – dream on.

As I say, way too kind.

For me, the Third Lanark solution would be ideal.

You, CQN, CFC, the SFA, the Scottish media, the teddy bears, Alex Salmond et al better get used to it…

    … they are NO MORE.

Also as an aside, surely the easedale boy broke some sort of record for amount of times the word loyal used in an interview
