Atletico, Malaga, “breathtaking hypocrisy”

I was pleased Hearts won last night as all season I’ve been telling people we will win the league by double figures. Dropping the ball on Wednesday night put that in jeopardy but the gap is back to 12 points ahead of the visit of Motherwell on Sunday.

Ronny is likely to deploy more first choice players for his final game as Celtic manager against a Motherwell team who staged a remarkable recovery after a dreadful 2015, which would have seem them relegated if it weren’t for the huge gap between Premiership and Championship.

It looked like farewell from Emilio on Wednesday but you have to expect a few more will possibly make their final competitive appearances in the hoops this weekend.

I see a “Five-in-a-row but Peter Lawwell just cannot win” article in The Scotsman. Aye, fair enough, but the article ploughs into the Resolution 12 guys, and accuses other Celtic fans of “breathtaking hypocrisy”.

It appears to imply Financial Fair Play rules are not applied elsewhere in Europe (citing Atletico Madrid), so there should be no issues with the rules not applying to Rangers in 2011. I don’t follow Spanish club licencing too closely, but you will remember Malaga being banned by Uefa for having “overdue payables” to the Spanish tax authorities.

The rules ARE applied, clubs are banned from European competition for overdue payables.

I’ve been in touch with both the Res 12 guys and Celtic on this matter this morning (they continue to work together on a daily basis). It’s fair to say both robustly rejected the tone in the article.  I don’t know how this matter will end, but it will not be decided at Hampden, or in a newspaper office – cards marked one more time.

Zlatan on ending his stay at PSG, “I came like a king, I leave like a legend”. And then some.

  1. Peter Lawwell has made many mistakes as the CEO of Celtic but it should also recognised that he’s done some good as well.

This week, as a ‘get it up you’ to one particular Record journalist, he gave interviews to several newspapers and at least one broadcaster, which included The Sun.

As a Celtic, and a football supporter, I think the decision to do so was insulting, disrespectful and verging on stupid.

On this single issue his actions disgust me.

? I thought he meant was it me who became the president of Finland ? What a strange question?

  6. Canamalar it looks like OCD obsession on

HT you’ve got to wonder why Celtic selected you to represent the supporters on the Park last Sunday when it’s obvious to some that you are obviously working against the club, eh :)

  7. THINDIMEBHOY, I remember during that period saying to anyone who would listen that Rangers would eventually go bust, it took longer than I anticipated but eventually it happened.

The journalists in the written press scratch their heads and twiddle fingers as they watch circulation drop every day, they blame everything and anyone but themselves as they poison the well they drink from, the newspapers will be gone soon.

    Hail Hail.

Most will recognise my post had a semblance of balance; I’ve recognised that PL has made many mistakes but also highlighted that he has done some good. I’m pretty sure that that would be the view of most balanced, fair minded Tims.

The thoughts expressed are those of a Celtic supporter who was disgusted at PL giving an interview to The Sun.

Of course there are some out there who, if PL asked if he could pish in their shoe, would reply,

    “Which one Peter?”

  9. HT represented who? Lol, now yer having a laugh, I’m not saying he wasent on the park, but he sure as feck wasent representing me, the CT aye,?

    Busy morning this morning.

I havent read back so apologies if I repeat anything.

    Wow.

So here we have Lawwell using the Scotsman to berate Celtic supporters. Who said that Celtic dont use the MSM. Not only is Lawwell using Smith to bleat about us celtic supporters having the temerity to complain about the boards disasterous performance but then wantonly attacks those fighting for justice in a terrible attempt to undermine res 12. Quite apart from the sinister use of media to blacken our name (just part of an institutionally racist society) lawwell will have signed off this article.

    ==============================

Perhaps this has been answered already but I’ll clarify.

The views of the author of the Scotsman article are not Peter Lawwel’s they are Andrew Smiths.

How do I know? Because he expressed them to me in a number of e mails exchanges last May in which I explained Res12 was about SFA accountability. I thought he had accepted that reasoning but for some bizarre reason he now comes out and suggests its not about the SFA because it should also be about the Spanish FA, What next? The Italians? The Arab Emirates? Should Canalamar use his geographical closeness to start Res13 in Arabic? Yup its that risible.

When it comes to double standards Smith’s hypocrisy knows no bounds as I reminded him. Having agreed ” It does make fascinating reading and it does really nail Rangers on the Flo/de Boer cases. ” (LNS) he did sod all to publish it.

You really shouldn’t believe everything you read in the press particularly when it appears to supports an already held idea. Paul has provided an update on Res12 which I imagine you have difficulty accepting because it does not tie in with your core belief.

My point here is if you are going to get support, pick your arguments with more care.

    Starry,

Aw I know. I just can’t get my head round the linky thing.

There was the unmistakable pucker of sour grapes in much of Smith’s piece today.

I’d take it as a backhanded compliment.

Yep indeed I was and incredibly, incredibly proud to do so in solidarity with the families and friends of those who were unlawfully killed at Hillsborough.

Three days later the CEO of Celtic gave an interview to the newspaper which claimed that their fellow supporters caused their deaths.

I’ll leave the pathetic personal insults to you.

I saw your earlier comment about Efe at the second St Johnstone goal on Wednesday night.

I’ve only seen it live and haven’t had time to watch the recording, however, I spoke to a few guys coming out of the ground. The feeling was that if there was no call from the keeper then Efe was correct to make an attempt to clear it.

  19. Donation made. Pressed the ‘Finished’ button just as I saw the part where I could enter a message. Ah well, if it arrives with no CQN name attached, it’s from me.

Grabbing the moral high ground on Hillsboro, well, that’s an all time CQN low, and an awful thing to accuse our CEO of CFC, you should be ashamed of yourself, there was no need for that at all, your moral compass has no boundaries .

As some have hinted at a Q & A with PL next week, am I the only one who is a bit uncomfortable about it ? This is an open forum that could attract zoomers from many places (as well as our own ;-) ) If this does happen I would hope that there would be some filter in place to remove any offensive questions before they appear. By offensive I don’t mean reaching or searching questions for PL, but the abusive ones that we all know could happen.

Then again, maybe I’m just shit at hints and got the wrong end of the stick. Anyway, off to PDC so I’ll catch up on the fun later on the balcony with a few bottles of red….

  23. Auldheid. As i said earlier uf this isnt celtics view of res12, given that the article is pitched as an interview with lawwell. Celtic should come out strongly against smiths article.

    Not that they will mind.

Quite apart from this lawwells approach appears to be to tell his customers how very stupid they are. Classy.
